I PURCHASED A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED CAR ON JAN. 2015. SINCE MID-2016 (ONE AND A HALF YEAR SINCE I OWNED THE CAR) I'VE BEEN NOTICING THAT MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON EVERY NOW AND THEN, AND GEAR SHIFTING BECAME SIGNIFICANTLY LAGGING AROUND 30MPH. EVERY SINGLE TIME IN A SERVICE APPOINTMENT (WHICH I TOOK STRICTLY ON SCHEDULE FOR EVERY 3 MONTHS), I WOULD POINT THAT OUT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, AND EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY WOULD CLAIM THAT THEY TESTED EVERYTHING AND THERE WAS NO PROBLEM THEY DETECTED. WHILE LAST WEEK (LATE JUNE 2017, 2 AND A HALF YEARS SINCE I OWNED THE CAR, AND INTERESTINGLY 5 MONTHS AFTER ALL MY WARRANTY EXPIRED), I WAS TRYING TO DRIVE BACK HOME FROM OFFICE VIA THE HIGHWAY. WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY AND SPEEDUP, I NOTICED THAT MY ENGINE SPEED WENT UPS AND DOWNS IN A SERIOUS, UNCOMMON, RAPID MANNER. THERE WAS ALSO AN UNPLEASANT NOISE COMING OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM. MY CAR SERIOUSLY SHAKES, AND ALL GEAR SHIFTING ATTEMPTS BECAME USELESS. THE CAR WENT OUT OF CONTROL AND WENT TO NEUTRAL GEAR ON THE HIGHWAY--WHICH PUSHED ME TO A VERY DANGEROUS EMERGENCY SITUATION. IT WAS THE SAME AMOUNT FOR SELLING THE SAME MODEL WITH GOOD CONDITION !!!! I READ EVERY COMPLAINTS FOR 2011 CHEVY CRUZE REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM, AND FOUND VERY SIMILAR EXPERIENCES FOR ALL THE CASES. TODAY, WE DISCOVERED WHILE CHECKING THE OIL THAT IT HAD GAS IN THE OIL CHAMBER. IN PULLING THE DIP STICK OUT, IT LEAKED ALL OVER THE ENGINE..I QUICKLY SMELLED OF IT, SMELLED LIKE GAS. The car overheated out of nowhere. Oil busted out of the compartment it’s supposed to be held in and got all over my mechanical parts inside the vehicle. My car caught on fire from the bottom where the engine and transmission are. The car started rattling and giving me warnings to get out of the vehicle because the vehicle was unsafe. It gave me the warning that the engine is idle, Engine locked up, and also an coolant issue. The car didn’t have issues before this. I literally had to jump out of the car with my family. The warning light for the engine and coolant came on. There hasn’t been In problems prior to this other than changing a sensor. The insurance was notified and don’t have a solution. We’re trying to figure out what to do because it’s not driveable. Going to contact Chevy dealer or GM as well.

Summary of Complaint

MY TRUNK IS COMING OPEN ON ITS OWN. SOMETIMES WHEN I UNLOCK MY CAR THE TRUNK WILL POP OPEN OTHER TIMES IT WILL JUST POP OPEN WHEN I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. IT IS NOT MY KEY FOB BECAUSE I HAVE USED DIFFERENT KEY FOBS THAT I HAVE AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL HAPPENING. THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. THIS CAN HAPPEN WHEN IT'S SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY. OVERNIGHT I WAKE UP IN THE MORNING AND THE TRUNK IS OPEN OR WHEN I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS STARTED HAPPENING JUST THIS MONTH AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING SPORADICALLY BUT AT LEAST ONCE A DAY IF NOT MORE. I'VE DONE SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET AND I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS IS HAPPENING TO WITH THEIR CHEVY CRUZE. I THINK IT RECALL IS AN ORDER BEFORE A WRECK DOES HAPPEN IF IT HASN'T ALREADY.

ISSUE 1: CAR JERKS WHILE AT LOW SPEEDS AND SOMETIMES ACTS LIKE IT'S IN NEUTRAL, EVEN THOUGH MY GEAR IS IN DRIVE. ISSUE 2: WHEN I PUT MY CAR INTO REVERSE, THEN TO DRIVE, THE CAR ACTS LIKE IT'S IN NEUTRAL, INSTEAD OF DRIVE. THE ENGINE REVS, BUT DOESN'T MOVE, UNLESS I HAPPEN TO BE ON A HILL, AT WHICH POINT IT WILL ROLL, WITHOUT ME WANITING IT TO. IN ORDER TO GO INTO DRIVE I HAVE TO PUT ON THE BRAKE AND PUT IT INTO PARK, LET GO OF THE BRAKE, PUT THE BRAKE BACK ON THEN PUT THE GEAR BACK IN DRIVE FOR IT TO MOVE FORWARD. ISSUE 3: CAR RUNS IN GEAR 1 AND 2, BUT WILL NOT SHIFT TO ANOTHER GEAR. WHEN YOU'RE DRIVING, THE ENGINE JUST REVS, BUT YOU CAN'T GO PAST A VERY LOW SPEED. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW IN 2011, IT HAS 80,000 MILES. I DON'T EXPECT IT TO BE A PERFECT CAR, BUT FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO ALREADY BE OUT, ISN'T RIGHT. IT'S DANGEROUS. PLEASE DO THE RIGHT THING AND INVESTIGATE THIS CAR'S TRANSMISSION. EVERYONE IS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR CAR. PLEASE. I'M BEGGING.

BOTH OF MY KEYS HAVE BROKEN OFF. THANKFULLY, THEY'VE NEVER BEEN STUCK IN MY IGNITION, BUT THEY HAVE BOTH SNAPPED OFF. I WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY (I HAD JUST ARRIVED) AND WENT TO TURN MY IGNITION OFF AND THE KEY SNAPPED AT THE BASE, BY WHERE THE PIN HOLDS IT. THE KEY ITSELF IS OK, BUT COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE BASE OR HOUSING. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, I THOUGHT MY 11 YEAR OLD BROKE THE FIRST ONE SO I HAVE BEEN USING THE SPARE. THE BREAK LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME THIS TIME AS THE FIRST TIME, I JUST MUST HAVE DROPPED THE ACTUAL KEY PART OUT WITHOUT NOTICING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V288000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 103,000.

I'VE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GENERAL MOTORS AWARING ME ABOUT THE POSITIVE CRANKCASE VENTILATION (PCV) PRESSURE REGULATOR VALVE. THAT MAY DEVELOP A CONDITION WITH MY VEHICLE, AND I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE IS IN THE CONDITION AS THEY DESCRIBED. BUT THE I CAN ONLY GET IT REPAIR AT NO COST IF MY VEHICLE WAS LESS THEN 120,000 MILES.
