WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 CHEVY CRUZE, MY RADIO WILL SHUT OFF RANDOMLY FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS, AND WHEN IT DOES, I LOSE COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE STEERING. IT IS LIKE THE CAR SHUTS OFF BUT WHEN THE RADIO TURNS BACK ON, THEN THE CAR WILL RESTORE POWER. VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY!!! AND YET, THERE IS STILL NO RECALL FOR MY SPECIFIC VIN. ALSO, FOR TWO MORNINGS IN A ROW, I HAVE NOTICED A SMELL AND SOME SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. IT WILL ONLY DO IT FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND THE CAR WILL NOT OVERHEAT. I SWEAR IT IS ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER WITH THIS CAR.

WITHOUT ANY PREVIOUS PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS DAY.. MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WITH ONLY 80,000 MILES ON JUNE 7, 2018. BEING ON A BUSY 2 LANE, CURVY HIGHWAY, MY CAR JUST COMPLETELY WENT OUT OF GEAR AND THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE CRUISE OFF TO THE SIDE. A FEW MINUTES LATER AN ALERT THAN CAME UP ON MY DASH AND SAID "TRANSMISSION HOT, IDLE ENGINE". I HAD BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2014 WITH ONLY ONE PREVIOUS OWNER THAT TOOK REALLY GOOD CARE OF IT. IT IS RIDICULOUS FOR MY TRANSMISSION TO GO OUT WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE AND TO HAVE TO PAY $5,000 FOR A NEW ONE AND PLUS THE CAR PAYMENTS I STILL HAVE ON IT. UNFORTUNATELY, I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON TO HAVE THIS ISSUE. THERE ARE MANY OTHERS. JUST BECAUSE THEY LOOK NICE DOESN'T MEAN IT WILL LAST LONG.

I WASN'T ALLOWED TO GET REFUNDED I WAS JUST GIVEN A BUNCH OF BS. A MONTH LATER IT KEPT DOING THE SAME THING BUT THIS TIME THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE HOOD, TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND NOTHING. 3RD TIME I FILED A COMPLAINT AND SAID I WAS GOING TO FILE A LAWSUIT AND THE TOOK MY CAR IN AN APPARENTLY THEY HAD TO CHANGE MY RADIATOR, FAN, BRAKES ALONG WITH THE DISK. EVEN AFTER ALL THIS MY CAR CONTINUED DOING THE SAME THING BUT NOW IT TURNS OFF!! I TRIED TO TURN ON MY CAR THIS SATURDAY AND IT JUST WOULDN'T START. IT SAID SOMETHING ABOUT THEFT, I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AND THEN IT GAVE A MESSAGE ABOUT CHECK POWER STEERING! THIS WILL BE MY 5TH TIME TAKING IT IN! I THINK I HAVE GOTTEN RIPPED OFF!! I REGRET PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE!! NOW IM STUCK WITH A JACKED UP CAR AND A VERY HIGH CAR PAYMENT THAT IS NOT EVEN WORTH PAYING FOR. AND TO TOP IT OFF THE DEALER I PURCHASED IT FROM IS NO HELP!! THEY SEEM TO GET UPSET EVERY TIME YOU TAKE THE CAR AND TELL THEM THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT. IM A MOTHER OF 3 AND MY BIGGEST FEAR IS SOMETHING HAPPENING TO MY CHILDREN BECAUSE OF THIS. I PURCHASE THIS CAR BECAUSE I NEEDED SOMETHING RELIABLE SINCE IM ALWAYS ON THE ROAD. It is unknown exactly as to why this is happening but it has happened on more than one occasion. I was at a red light and when the light turned green I pushed the gas but my car wouldn’t drive, I was stuck in the middle of the road. This put me in significant danger as I was on a very busy road with a speed limit of 55. I had to jump out of the car onto the road and run to a side walk as I was afraid someone would crash into me had I stayed in the car. I then had to call the police to block off the lane where my car was so that no one driving on the road would get into an accident. There were NO warning signs at all making this situation even worse because had I been warned I would’ve at least been able to pull over safely. I took it to my mechanic and he thought he fixed the issue I got it back and it did the same exact thing a couple days later. My mechanic says he doesn’t know what else to do. I’m waiting for an appointment at the dealership. This car should seriously be recalled because I looked this issue up and many other people unfortunately have experienced the same exact thing with their 2012 Chevy Cruze shutting off in the middle of the road at a traffic light.

The problem I have is a very, very common problem and a huge safety issue to my life or anyone with the same car within around 2011 to 2015. The cheap plastic levers for the mode actuator for my defrost and vents do not work. They have broken and this I barely have any heat coming out of the front vents and absolutely none coming from the defrost. This is a huge issue and highly affects my driving in the cold and snowy, or even rainy, weather. I’m so upset there has not been a recall thus far. No one wants to spend 1000 dollars for a five dollar part when it’s not their fault that the levers are faulty! This is Chevrolets and thus, GMCs problem. My safety is highly threatened when I can’t defrost the ice nor the fog over my windshield meaning I cannot see!! I scrape it and as soon as I drive it gets worse I had to pull over today because I couldn’t see at all! It’s scary and not okay! Please admit to the mistake and fix the problem. Please!

I had no heat for a long time, as well as the engine light constantly being on and never knowing why. There was a lag to accelerate. Also it would suddenly overheat and say turn off ac due to overheating, as well as suddenly fluctuate to cold and back to normal. I change the throttle body inlet heater hose to see if that would get it working. It did for a day. Then all over a sudden the same issues started happening. From what I can tell it is an extremely common issue that has not been address yet or had a recall yet....the thermostat. That is the only thing it could be at this point. I am going to try and bleed out the coolant for air again. But other than that it is the thermostat, it is the only thing that covers every symptom and it is an extremely, well documented problem with these types of cars.

The transmission is a known issue, so much so they issued a service bulletin. The transmission will give out or shift very abruptly or shift in to neutral without warning and at various speeds. Our specific case was sudden downshift while travelling about 65 mph, then shifted into neutral which turned the engine off causing an abrupt stop then eventual release and had to coast to a stop. We then got a code for transmission code that a mechanic inspected and tried to replace a part they said the code was most likely related to. The mechanic then stated that if this did not fix it, it would require complete replacement of transmission. The independent service provider confirmed that it was indeed related to an internal service notice for GM. They did not give us the related number. We also received a notice to bring the car in for related notice if the car was under certain mileage however they knew our vehicle was over since they do all the service. In research, this is a common problem where Chevrolet is not able to accurately detect, troubleshoot and repair. It is a known issue however we are on the hook for the repair when this is clearly a design issue and a severe safety issue.

Service Bulletin Number: 14311B, Date: June 2015, Service Bulletin: SB-10057574-8899 CONDITION On certain 2011–2015 model year Chevrolet Cruze vehicles, the negative battery cable terminal clamp may have an insufficient crimp at the battery negative terminal. Over time, the internal resistance increases and vehicle electrical systems do not receive adequate power. With this condition, the following effects are possible: the Radio/HVAC Display may turn off and on; the Antilock Brake System, Service Traction System, Service Stabilitrac and Steering vehicle messages may come on and off; the turn signal sound may not be heard; “Battery Saver Active” and “Service Steering” may display in the Driver Information Center (DIC); and the interior and exterior lighting may flicker. Power steering assist may also be lost, and greater effort may be needed to turn the steering wheel at low speeds or while the vehicle is stopped. It's in the Service Bulletin Provided below. I am not sure if my 2012 Chevy Cruze Eco is included in this Service Bulletin (Below), but this Service Bulletin is the closest thing I could find that describes what is going on with my Vehicle. Lights blinking, steering hard to turn, steering warning light coming on (Stabilitrac), and other things as well described in the Service Bulletin. Again, I am not sure if my car's VIN Number, is included in the Service Bulletin, I would like to know if it is? or not?, before taking it in to the Dealer Ship, for repairs/service, because it is unsafe to drive at this point forward.

Brake assist, no brakes when backing up. This was recalled on almost 300,000 Chevy cruzes but not all. Recall number 12213. My vehicle being one that was not included. I believe Chevy needs to recall more than the 300,000. Brakes work fine driving forward, but again no brakes in reverse. This is not ok! Could definitely cause vehicle to crash. Not safe at all!
