THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING FINE FOR THE PAST YEAR THAT I HAVE BEEN HOME. I HAVE ROUTINELY CHANGED MY OIL AND INSPECTED FLUIDS AND AIR PRESSURES ETC. ON VEHICLES. THEY REFUSED TO HONOR MY EXTENDED GM WARRANTY AND ARE DEMANDING $1700 JUST TO TEAR IT DOWN TO SEE WHAT THE FAULT OR PROBLEM IS. I HAVE CONTACTED GM EXT WARRANTY AND THEY HAVE FINALLY AGREED TO SEND A INSPECTOR. NOW THEY ARE DEMANDING PROOF OF OIL CHANGES. I CONTACTED MY OIL CHANGE SERVICE CENTER AND THEY JUST SOLD TO A NEW OWNER AND CANNOT ACCESS OLD DATABASE PAST 1 APR 2010...THIS VEHICLE HAS BROKE DOWN (STALLED WITH NO POWER) ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS IN VERY DANGEROUS AREAS WITH LIMITED ROOM TO PULL OVER DUE TO MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN AND NUMEROUS BIG RIGS TRAVELING THE ROUTE. I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY EQUINOX THAT HAS EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. FIRST I HAD IGNITION PROBLEMS, AIR CONDITIONER PROBLEMS, BATTERY BEING DRAINED WITHOUT CAUSE, WINDOW CONTROL AND SO FORTH. EACH TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS AND EACH TIME A REPAIR WAS MADE. ONLY AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS OUT DID I DISCOVER BY ACCIDENT THAT THE PROBLEMS WERE CAUSED BY A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS. THE MAIN DASH WIRING HARNESS LOCATED IN THE LEFT FLOOR PANEL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE HAS SIGNS OF MELTING, AND SHORTS WITH THE SLIGHTEST MOVEMENT. THE SHORTAGE CAUSES THE AIR CONDITIONER TO STOP BLOWING AND WILL CAUSE THE ENGINE TO COMPLETELY DIE OUT. I HAVE HAD THE CAR EVALUATED BY TWO MECHANICS WHO BOTH STATED, WITHOUT KNOWING SOMEONE ELSE HAD LOOKED AT IT, THAT THE CAR IS A FIRE HAZARD AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY. I ALSO SPOKE WITH A LOCAL BODY SHOP THAT HAS REPAIRED AT LEAST ONE EQUINOX THAT BURNED DUE TO THIS SAME WIRING HARNESS. THE REPAIRS ARE CURRENTLY BEING MADE AT A COST OF $4,000.00. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A MORE WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM THAN HAS BEEN REPORTED AND HOPE THAT OTHERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS WILL SPEAK OUT AS GENERAL MOTORS IS UNWILLING TO INVESTIGATE THIS.
