I HAVE BEEN HAVING MAJOR OVERHEATING IN MY VVEHICAL. ABS PULSATES BY ITSELF WHILE DRIVING MAKING IT HARD TO STOP WHEN I NEED TO. WHEN I DO PUSH DOWN ON THE BRAKES IT PUSHES BACK PREVENTING ME FROM STOPPING QUICKLY OR AT ALL. AFTER A WHILE DRIVING LIKE THIS THE ABS TRACTION LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON UNTIL I TURN IT OFF AND THEN IT HAPPEN ALL OVER AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT FIX BUT THE PROBLEM KEEPS REOCCURRING. IN 2012 THE CAR JUST STOP ON THE ROAD THAT WASN'T BRAKE RELATED CAUSING US TO GET HIT FROM BEHIND AND THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY STEERED TO THE EXTREME RIGHT. I WAS DRIVING AT APPROX 35 MPH APPROACHING A CURVE IN THE ROAD. I APPLIED THE BRAKES, THE CAR FISHTAILED AND SLID SIDEWAYS OFF THE ROAD, DOWN AN EMBANKMENT. LUCKILY I WAS TRAVELING AT A VERY SLOW SPEED & THERE WERE NO ON COMING VEHICLES. BY STOPPING AND TURNING OFF ENGINE, LIGHTS WOULD GO OUT BUT COME BACK ON AFTER ABOUT A MILE. CAR WOULD STALL OR JUMP FORWARD, BRAKING DIFFICULT. NEW BRAKES INSTALLED, PROBLEMS CONTINUED. 10-26-11 TOOK CAR BACK & HAD BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS & SENSORS REPLACED. PROBLEMS CONTINUE. 11-18-2011 CAR TAKEN TO CHEVY MECH. & TESTED. THEY DECIDED I NEEDED THE LF JUMPER HARNESS & SPEED SENSOR REPLACED. 4 WEEKS AGO: SLIGHT GRINDING SOUND FROM FRONT WHEELS WHILE TURNING. CHECK ENGINE & TC LIGHTS CAME ON, STALLING & BRAKING PROBLEMS. TOOK CAR IN FOR 100,000 SERVICE, DROVE 30 MILES TO MY HOME. CAR RAN PERFECTLY. LATER THE SAME DAY CAR RAN FINE FOR 2 MILES, THEN ABS & TC LIGHTS CAME ON, BEGAN TO LUG DOWN & STALL, SURGE FORWARD, STALL. CAR STALLING CONTINUALLY. TOWED CAR. MECHANIC IS UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT IS WRONG. TOMORROW HE WILL TOW THE CAR TO THE CHEVY DEALER FOR EVALUATION. QUESTION FOR CHEVROLET AND NHTSA~~MY CAR IS A 2005. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM & REALIZE THAT THIS IS AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THE EQUINOX, A SAFETY PROBLEM TO MYSELF, MY FAMILY & OTHER CHEVY OWNERS & MOTORISTS. WHY HAVEN'T THESE VEHICLES BEEN RECALLED, WHY HAS CHEVROLET BEEN ALLOWED TO CONTINUE SELLING THE EQUINOX WITH THIS LIFE THREATENING BRAKE AND T/C PROBLEM? SCARY. MY 2005 CHEVROLET EQUINOX STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART IN TRAFFIC FOR APPROXIMATELY THE 5TH TIME IN THE PAST THREE YEARS. THE FIRST FOUR TIMES WERE FINALLY DIAGNOSED BY GM AS A FAULTY COMPUTER THAT WAS GETTING WET DUE TO A BAD SEAL FROM THE SUNROOF. BECAUSE OF THESE PROBLEMS, I LEASED ANOTHER CAR FOR MY WIFE WHILE I WAS DEPLOYED TO IRAQ SO I WOULD NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT HER SAFETY. THE CAR HAS BEEN RUNNING FINE FOR THE PAST YEAR THAT I HAVE BEEN HOME. I HAVE ROUTINELY CHANGED MY OIL AND INSPECTED FLUIDS AND AIR PRESSURES ETC. ON VEHICLES. THE LATEST OCCURRENCE HAPPENED ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. IT STALLED WAS DUE TO WHAT THE DEALER IS CALLING INTERNAL DAMAGE. SPEAKING TO A CLAIMS AGENT FOR GM I WAS INITIALLY TOLD TO HAVE DEALER CALL FOR AN AUTHORIZATION. THEY REFUSED TO HONOR MY EXTENDED GM WARRANTY AND ARE DEMANDING $1700 JUST TO TEAR IT DOWN TO SEE WHAT THE FAULT OR PROBLEM IS. I HAVE CONTACTED GM EXT WARRANTY AND THEY HAVE FINALLY AGREED TO SEND A INSPECTOR. NOW THEY ARE DEMANDING PROOF OF OIL CHANGES. I CONTACTED MY OIL CHANGE SERVICE CENTER AND THEY JUST SOLD TO A NEW OWNER AND CANNOT ACCESS OLD DATABASE PAST 1 APR 2010...THIS VEHICLE HAS BROKE DOWN (STALLED WITH NO POWER) ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS IN VERY DANGEROUS AREAS WITH LIMITED ROOM TO PULL OVER DUE TO MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN AND NUMEROUS BIG RIGS TRAVELING THE ROUTE. NO ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES HAVE OCCURRED YET, BUT THIS VEHICLE IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. AFTER THIS LATEST INCIDENT, I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS EXAMPLES OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVING SIMILAR INCIDENTS WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE/MOTOR. I AM GENUINELY CONCERNED FOR MY FAMILY'S SAFETY, AND FURTHERMORE, DEEPLY DISTURBED THAT I HAVE BEEN PAYING FOR A GM EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT THEY DO NOT WISH TO CHOOSE TO HONOR. Summary of Complaint

I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY EQUINOX THAT HAS EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. FIRST I HAD IGNITION PROBLEMS, AIR CONDITIONER PROBLEMS, BATTERY BEING DRAINED WITHOUT CAUSE, WINDOW CONTROL AND SO FORTH. EACH TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS AND EACH TIME A REPAIR WAS MADE. ONLY AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS OUT DID I DISCOVER BY ACCIDENT THAT THE PROBLEMS WERE CAUSED BY A FAULTY WIRING HARNESS. THE MAIN DASH WIRING HARNESS LOCATED IN THE LEFT FLOOR PANEL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE HAS SIGNS OF MELTING, AND SHORTS WITH THE SLIGHTEST MOVEMENT. THE SHORTAGE CAUSES THE AIR CONDITIONER TO STOP BLOWING AND WILL CAUSE THE ENGINE TO COMPLETELY DIE OUT. I HAVE HAD THE CAR EVALUATED BY TWO MECHANICS WHO BOTH STATED, WITHOUT KNOWING SOMEONE ELSE HAD LOOKED AT IT, THAT THE CAR IS A FIRE HAZARD AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY. I ALSO SPOKE WITH A LOCAL BODY SHOP THAT HAS REPAIRED AT LEAST ONE EQUINOX THAT BURNED DUE TO THIS SAME WIRING HARNESS. THE REPAIRS ARE CURRENTLY BEING MADE AT A COST OF $4,000.00. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A MORE WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM THAN HAS BEEN REPORTED AND HOPE THAT OTHERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS WILL SPEAK OUT AS GENERAL MOTORS IS UNWILLING TO INVESTIGATE THIS. I ENCOURAGE NEW CAR BUYERS TO BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY, AS I HAVE BEEN SORELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THEIR PRODUCT AND SERVICE. *TR THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THERE WAS A ROARING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS TRAVELING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY (RTE 495 S). I SUDDENLY HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND FELT A JOLT. I THOUGHT THAT I HAD GOTTEN A FLAT TIRE, SO I PROCEEDED TO PULL INTO THE BREAK DOWN LANE. THE CAR WAS IDLING FINE BUT MADE A HORRIBLE SCRAPING NOISE WHEN MOVING.
