Summary of Complaint

I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE, GOING THE SPEED LIMIT. I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL ON WHEN THE CAR ALERTED ME THAT THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE AS THESE MESSAGES HAVE APPEARED ON MY CAR BEFORE. I TRAVELED ANOTHER 40 MILES ALONG THE INTERSTATE AND WAS ABOUT A MILE FROM MY EXIT. I WAS PASSING AN OVER-SIZED TRACTOR TRAILER GOING UP HILL WHEN THE CAR DISPLAYED STARTING DISABLED THROTTLE SERVICE AND THE CAR SHUT OFF. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE AND HAD TO INITIATE MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND WAIT FOR THE TRACTOR TRAILER TO PASS ME SO I COULD MOVE THE CAR OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. AS THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY SHUTOFF AND WAS JUST COASTING, I HAD TO FIGHT THE STEERING WHEEL TO CONTROL THE CAR. I FEEL LIKE HAD MY SITUATION WAS JUST A LITTLE DIFFERENT, THE CAR COULD HAVE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE WITH CARS TRAVELING 70+ MPH AND POSSIBLY CAUSED A CRASH. I'VE ALREADY REPLACED THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR AND THAT REMEDIED THE SITUATION FOR A COUPLE MONTHS. THIS A HIGHLY DANGEROUS OCCURRENCE THAT I KNOW IS COMMON WITH THE IMPALA'S AS I'VE HEARD IT HAPPENING TO SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE OWNING IMPALA'S.

Summary of Complaint

OCTOBER 2015, WHILE DRIVING DISPLAY CAME UP WITH MESSAGE "SERVICE AIR BAG" WITH ICON ALSO SHOWING ON DISPLAY. CHECKING INTO THIS MESSAGE I FOUND THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND THAT I CANNOT DEPEND ON HAVING AIR BAG PROTECTION IF IN AN ACCIDENT. CHECKING VARIOUS SOURCES ONLINE, FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS AND THAT WHEN MANY SERIOUS ACCIDENTS OCCURED, NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED . CALLED MY GM DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT PROBLEM COULD BE CAUSED BY SEVERAL DIFFERENT PROBLEMS AND COULD MEAN INSTALLING NEW AIR BAGS AT A COST OF $1200.00. WITH ALL THE CURRENT RECALLS FOR THE TAKADE AIR BAGS, WHY ARE THESE AIR BAG DEFECTS ON THE CHEVOLET IMPALA'S NOT BEING RECALLED. THEY PRESENT A REAL DANGER TO PASSENGERS IN THESE CARS. IN SOME OF THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE, EVEN AFTER THE CARS WERE SERVICED BY THE DEALERS, THE PROBLEMS REOCCURED. I AM AN 81 YEAR OLD FEMALE WITH OUT THE RESOURCES TO PAY SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO, MAYBE, HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED AND I AM SURE MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THE IMPALA'S ARE IN THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCE. I FEEL THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSURE AND SHOULD BE CONSIDERED AS SUCH.

Summary of Complaint

SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. HAD THE CAR SCANNED TO FIND OUT IT WAS A PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. NOW ON 6/2/15 I AM GETTING ANOTHER SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT, BUT AFTER I SHUT THE CAR OFF, AND TURN IT BACK ON, THE LIGHT DOES NOT COME BACK ON. THE DEALER TELLS ME THAT UNTIL IT STAYS ON, THEY CAN NOT SCAN IT. I AM NOT VERY CONFIDENT IN THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY A TECHNICIAN THAT IF ONE AIRBAG IS NOT FUNCTIONING RIGHT THE WHOLE AIR BAG SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN. SCARY!

Summary of Complaint

THIS INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES LEADING UP TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINING ON. AS I WOULD BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY START TO JERK TO ACCELERATE AND DECELERATE WITHOUT ME WANTING TO CHANGE SPEEDS. SEVERAL OF THESE INCIDENTS HAVE BEEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. THEN THE MESSAGE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" WOULD APPEAR ON THE DASH AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND STAY ON. THIS WOULD ALSO CAUSE THE CAR TO REDUCE ITS SPEED AND CAUSE SIGNIFICANT ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. I REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR AS INDICATED BY A CODE LOOK UP AND HAVEN'T HAD ANYMORE PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR AS OF OCTOBER 25, 2014. *TR
