THE AIR CONDITIONER STILL FAULTY. REPLACED HOSES AND FREON. THE STRUTS STILL LEAKING FLUID AROUND TIRE AREA SINCE PURCHASED. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE AT DIFFERENT FORUMS ABOUT THIS. MY ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY ANF WHEN I HAVE IT TESTED IT JUST SAYS O2 SENSORS. THE LIGHT WILL STAY ON FOR 1-2 DAYS AND THEN GO OUT AND REMAIN OFF FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AT A TIME. EVERYTHING IN THE CAR IS PLASTIC AND KEEPS POPPING OFF. I HAVE REPLACED SO MANY DOOR AND SEAT PIECES THAT THIS IS CRAZY EVEN DOWN TO REPLACING MOTOR MOUNTS. I LOVE CHEVROLET BUT THIS BY FAR HAS BEEN MY MOST AGGRAVATING AND COSTLY PURCHASE.... THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 113,000 MILES. THIS WAS A KNOW FLAW BY GM AS PROBLEMS OCCURRED IN THE 2009 AND 2010 TRAVERSE ENGINE THAT RESULTED IN REIMBURSEMENTS FOR REPAIRS. THE 2011 TRAVERSE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE COST TO REPAIR IS ABOUT $4,500. GM SHOULD REIMBURSE FOR THIS ISSUE AS THE FLAW HAS NOT BEEN FIXED IN 2011 MODEL.

Summary of Complaint

A NUMBER OF MONTHS AGO, WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WENT ON AN A MESSAGE DISPLAYING "REDUCED POWER ENGINE" WAS DISPLAYED. AT THE SAME TIME, THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED., THE ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED FOR FEW SECONDS AND THEN EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL. MONTHS BEFORE THE DESCRIBED INCIDENT, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CHEVROLET DESCRIBING THIS ISSUE AND STATING ABOUT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER THIS ISSUE. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS I WILL BE CHARGED ROUGHLY $150.00 TO DETECT THE ISSUE AND, IF AND ONLY IF, CERTAIN CODES WERE DISPLAYED ON THE SCAN, IT WILL BE COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. SINCE IT WAS EXPENSIVE I DECIDED TO GO TO ANOTHER PLACE AND THE SCAN FOR FREE AND OBTAIN THE CODES. NO CODES WERE DISPLAYED. SINCE 4 MONTHS AGO THE ENGINE SHUTOFF WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING, TO START THE ENGINE IS REQUIRED TO STOP BY ANY POSSIBLE WAY, AND RESTART THE ENGINE. ONCE AGAIN, ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD TURN AND THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTOFF. THIS HAD HAPPENED AT LEAST SIX TIMES IN THE LAST 4 MONTHS. IN ALL OF THIS INCIDENTS I CAN NOT TELL IF THE "REDUCED POWER ENGINE" MESSAGE IS DISPLAYED SINCE THE PRIORITY IS TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE COUPLE WEEKS AGO TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I WAS CHARGED ABOUT $150.00 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE FEEDBACK FROM CHEVROLET WAS THAT NOTHING WAS WITH IN THE VEHICLE. IT IS INCONCEIVABLE THAT I WAS CHARGED THAT MUCH BY CHEVROLET TO COME BACK WITH A RESPONSE THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. CHEVROLET IS WELL AWARE (THE LETTER RECEIVED IN THE PAST) THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. FURTHERMORE, THE INTERNET IS PLENTY OF PEOPLE DESCRIBING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE TRAVERSE. I DO NOT KNOW THE PARAMETERS OF NHTSA TO CALL WHEN SHOULD BE A RECALL , BUT BASED ON THE LETTER THAT CHEVROLET SENT, AND THE MULTIPLE COMPLAINS SUGGESTS IT MIGHT BE.

I HAVE READ MANY FORUMS TODAY, ALL FILLED WITH PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. APPARENTLY GM IS DOING NOTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IT SEEMS THEY ARE WAITING FOR MULTIPLE INJURIES OR GOD FORBID DEATHS BEFORE THEY REACT. I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 2 MONTHS AGO, AND HAVE PUT A LITTLE OVER 10,000 MILES ON IT. The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a loud banging sound coming from the front of the vehicle. The front of the vehicle started shaking and vibrating before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine was damaged and needed to be replaced, due to a faulty oil pump seal which caused the engine rod to malfunction. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 139,000.

PURCHASED USED VEHICLE WITH 118XXX MILES AND WITHIN A YEAR THESE CODES APPEARED. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, WHO INSISTED IT WAS TIMING CHAIN, WITH ESTIMATE OF $2300. HOWEVER, SECOND AND THIRD OPINIONS DISAGREED...SUGGESTING SENSOR ISSUES, THROTTLE BODY ISSUES, ETC. WHY HAS THE TIMING CHAIN OR TENSIONER NOT BEEN RECALLED, IF THIS IS THE ISSUE? FORTUNATELY, OUR VEHICLE DOES NOT GO INTO LIMP MODE...HOWEVER, WE'VE BEEN TOLD THIS COULD HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE. WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT IF THE NHTSA WOULD DO A DEEPER DIVE AND GENERATE A RECALL. GOING TO ADDRESS CAMSHAFT BANK SENSORS NEXT BEFORE POSSIBLY REPLACING TIMING CHAIN AND/OR TENSIONER. ADDITIONALLY, PROBLEMS WITH MOISTURE ISSUE OF UNKNOWN LOCATION THAT CAUSES THE STEREO SPEAKERS TO NOT WORK. ON SUNNY, WARM DAYS, STEREO SPEAKERS WORK FINE...ANY MOISTURE, NO SPEAKERS.

WE WERE DRIVING ABOUT 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE ENGINE STARTED TO MAKE A KNOCKING SOUND AND LOSING POWER. WE PULLED OVER TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START. WE GOT A JUMP AND HAD TO BUY A NEW BATTERY DUE TO IT BEING DRAINED. GOT A NEW BATTERY AND PULLED UP THE CODE FOR THE KNOCK SENSOR. WE REPLACED IT AND NEW CODES PULLED UP. THE ENGINE THRU A ROD WITH NO WARNING OF ANYTHING BEING WRONG WITH THE TRAVERSE. IT WAS WELL MAINTAINED WITH ONLY 140,000 MILES. THE NEW BATTERY WE BOUGHT WAS DRAINED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AND NEEDS TO BE CHARGED FOR THE TRAVERSE TO EVEN START WHEN THE MECHANIC LOOKED AT IT.

THE BURNING OIL SMELL NEVER WENT AWAY SO I TOOK IT BACK AND HE FOUND THAT THE TIMING BELT NEEDS REPLACED AFTER TWO MONTHS BECAUSE A BRASS RING THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE REPLACED WASN'T. THIS BRASS RING WAS NEVER ON THE RECALL LIST SO THE PREVIOUS OWNERS KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT. CHEVY KNOWS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE BUT THEY WON'T REPLACE THEM. I AM NOT STUCK WITH A PILE OF JUNK THAT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE ALL BECAUSE CHEVY WON'T OWN UP TO THEIR FAILURE. SO FAR I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH MY SUV, BOUGHT A 2009 FOR 6,000 AND HAD TO PT 7,200 IN IT TO GET IT RUNNING RIGHT. I TRADED IT IN AT THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS BEING DIAGNOSED AT THANKFULLY. NOW I HAVE A 2011 AND STARTING TO HAVE MANY ISSUES UNFORTUNATELY. FIRST IT STARTED 3700 MILES AFTER I GOT MY 2011 BY LEAVING ME WITH NO POWER STEERING WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A TURN AND ALMOST WRECKED 3 TIMES GOING TO THE HOSPITAL. I WAS ABLE TO PUT POWER STEERING FLUID IN AND GOT MY POWER STEERING BACK BUT IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER. THEY SAID IF I CAME IN AT 3500 MILES THEY WOULD HAVE REPLACED THE PUMP AND WHOLE RACK UNDER WARRENTY, BUT THEY DIDNT. SO I GOTTA TOP IT OFF EVERY FEW MONTHS, NO BIG DEAL. SUSPENSION HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE, ROUGH IDLE, TUNED UP 3 TIMES IN 42,373 MILES. A/C ONLY BLOWS COLD ON DRIVER SIDE NOW, IT MAKES A DIFFERENT NOISE EVERY DAY AND THE DEALERSHIP SAYS I NEED TO HAVE THE ENGINE DROPPED AND TIMING CHAIN REPLACED. I CANT DROP 2400 BUCKS ON SOMETHING THAT DOESNT FIX THE PROBLEM! WAY TOO MANY NEGATIVE OUTCOMES THAT I'VE READ ON THE TIMING CHAIN ISSUE. PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED HAD BETTER LUCK THAN A REBUILD.
