Summary of Complaint

WENT TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH FIRESTONE TO HAVE MY PLUGS CHANGED PER FORD MANUAL ON MY 2002 F150 5.4 LITER V8. IT WAS TOLD TO ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT TOUCH THE VEHICLE AS I SHOULD CONTACT FORD DIRECTLY. THEY CLAIM THE PLUGS EXPLODE. WE THEN CALLED THE FORD DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN SAYVILLE THE WOMAN STATED AT SAYVILLE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE PLUGS WOULD COST TO REPLACE $ 383.00 UNLESS THE PLUGS EXPLODE INSIDE THE ENGINE WHEN REMOVED THEN IT WOULD COST 1/2 HOUR MORE PER PLUG AS THEY ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE PLUGS EXPLODING IT COULD RUN UP TO A TOTAL COST OF$ 800.00 MAX TO REMOVE. SOMETHING ABOUT NEW SLEEVE HAS TO BE REPLACED WHEN IT EXPLODES. I WAS REALLY IRATE WE ARE ONLY TALKING ABOUT PLUGS. I THEN CONTACTED FORD AT 1 800 392-3673 AT CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER CLAIMS THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WELL I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS IF FIRESTONE WILL NOT TOUCH THE VEHICLE AND THERE OWN FORD DEALERS EXPLAINS THEY HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM THEN HOW DO YOU NOT KNOW ABOUT IT. PROBLEM. I HAVE A BIG PROBLEM WITH THIS NOT ONLY CONCERNS ABOUT ENGINE ALSO THE COST FACTOR WITH REGARDS WITH THE REMOVAL OF DEFECTED PLUGS I BELIEVE THEY ALREADY KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM AND AS USUAL THEY ARE TRYING TO PASS THE DEFECT TO THE CONSUMER. IT NEEDS TO BE STOPPED. *KB

Summary of Complaint

I OWN A 2002 FORD F-150 XLT 4X4 WITH A TRITION 5.4L V-8. I WENT OUT TO START IT THIS MORNING AND I HEARD A LOUD NOISE THAT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOT WENT OFF. THEN MY TRUCK STARTED SHAKING AND MAKING A CHUGGING NOISE. I SHUT IT OFF AND OPENED THE HOOD AND FOUND THAT ONE OF MY SPARK PLUGS JUST BLEW OUT OF THE ENGINE. IT BROKE THE COIL AND STRIPPED OUT THE THREADS WHERE THE SPARK PLUG GOES. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC AND IT COST $503.83 FOR THE REPAIR. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TRITION ENGINES. I WENT ONLINE AND DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME SUBJECT. I THINK FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR

Summary of Complaint

SUA sudden unwanted acceleration, at least 4 times. No floor mats. 1st time truck surged back and forth a little then accelerated full throttle. I went to neutral. I kicked gas pedal although gas peddle was not depressed. It stopped. I was shook up but in control. I decided to remove throttle body and clean extensively. Replaced TB Sensor w/ genuine Ford part and replaced throttle valve on top. Hoped for the best. Still have the problem. 2002 F 150 XL 4.2 purchased new. I still have truck because its been such a great truck, I never felt like it was time to move on. It runs like new and I've taken care of it. I am writing this info for safety and only safety. I've been researching this issue. trying to solve problem. I took truck to qualified shop where mechanic is known to me and he was a little stumped. No codes, no check engine light. Can't solve the puzzle? So, I'm on top of the possibility of it happening. I really don't go anywhere w/ truck, to the store and back pretty much. So when its happens, I'm fast to go to neutral. I also feel like if I wanted to show somebody what I'm talking about, all they have to do is get in. I'm almost positive if I punch the gas peddle just a little, say to pass a slow driver, it'll go like hell. I have started thinking about my next truck. But no way I'm trading or selling this truck and passing the problem to someone else. So, I'm dealing with it and really hope my experience helps. I've read the story's on line. Because I've lived it, I can tell you its a bit terrifying. That's my story Thank You Jim Winn

Summary of Complaint

When it rains the rain is somehow getting into the fuse box under the steering column and causing it to drain the battery, short out some of the instrument cluster, make noise, blow fuses, and rust up. It is a fire hazard and it puts all inside the truck in danger. I have not yet had a fire but if I keep the truck as is it will eventually.

Summary of Complaint

FRAME HAS RUSTED TO THE EXTENT THAT THE BED HAS DROPPED AND IS ABOUT TO FALL OFF. WHEN I WAS REPLACING THE FUEL TANK, WHICH HAD RUSTED THROUGH, I DISCOVERED THAT THE ENTIRE FRAME HAS HOLES AND CRACKS FROM RUST.I HAVE NOW BEEN HEARING THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED BY MANY, BUT NO ANSWER OR RECALLS FROM FORD. WHY DO THESE TRUCKS RUST SO BADLY. IS THERE NO RECOURSE FOR THOSE OF US WHO HAVE A TRUCK THAT FALLS APART?
