After driving on the highway approximately 30 miles I came to a stop sign. Stopped and went to accurate again, car shifted so hard it felt like someone rear ended me. THIS MORNING WHILE I WAS PULLING OUT MY DRIVEWAY EVERYTHING WAS FINE. I BEGAN TO PICK UP SPEED AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME UP, WRENCH LIGHT, THEN IT JUST DOWNSHIFT HARD STOPPED. CAR CAME TO A HALT AND IT WOULDN'T EVEN SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE. ONCE I GOT THE CAR OUT OF THE ROAD, I LOOKED AT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE, THE RUBBER BUSHING WAS GONE. I CAN PICK THE ENTIRE CABLE UP AND DO IT WHATEVER I WANT WITH IT. I'VE LOOKED AROUND AND I AM SEEING MANY OF OTHER COMPLAINTS. THE ONLY SCARY THING IS MY DAUGHTER WAS WITH ME THIS MORNING WHEN IT HAPPENED, BUT THANKFULLY OUR ROAD ISN'T BUSILY TRAVELED ON.

OUT OF NO WHERE, I LOOSE POWER STEERING. MY LIGHT ARE NOW ON- POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE. SOMETIMES WHEN I TURN MY CAR ON AND OFF- IT WORKS, BUT LATELY THAT IS NOT EVEN HELPING. ONE EVENING WHEN PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY IN REVERSE AND THEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE, THE RADIAL DIAL SHIFTER AUTOMATICALLY SHIFTED TO PARK. IT WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK AT ALL, AND I SAT STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD NOT BEING ABLE TO MOVE MY CAR FOR OVER TWO HOURS. THE ROAD IS SUCH THAT PEOPLE HAD TO DRIVE THROUGH NEIGHBORS' YARDS TO GET AROUND ME. I'M VERY FORTUNATE THAT MY NEIGHBOR IS AN ENGINE MECHANIC AND WAS ABLE TO WALK OVER AND DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. HE TOLD ME THE SHIFT LINKAGE WAS NOT CONNECTED AND THAT THE BUSHING THAT HOLDS IT ON APPEARED TO BE MISSING. IF IT WERE NOT FOR HIM I MAY STILL BE SITTING IN THE ROAD. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL OF THIS EXACT SAME PART FOR FORD FUSION MODEL YEARS 2013-2016. HOWEVER, MINE IS A 2017 THAT CAME OUT OF THE PLANT IN APRIL OF 2016. THEREFORE, IT STANDS TO REASON THAT THE DESIGN OF THIS SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING DID NOT DRASTICALLY CHANGE BETWEEN THE MAKING OF MY VEHICLE IN APRIL OF 2016 AND A 2016 MODEL THAT WAS MADE JUST A MONTH OR SO EARLIER WHICH WAS ELIGIBLE FOR A RECALL. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THAT I HAVE A YOUNG CHILD AND MY DRIVEWAY IS ON AN INCLINE. THE COMPLAINTS THAT I'VE RESEARCHED SAID THAT WITH THIS ISSUE THE CAR COULD BE STUCK IN NEUTRAL WHEN YOU THINK IT IS IN PARK FOR EXAMPLE, AND MY CHILD COULD HAVE BEEN IN THEIR CAR SEAT WHILE THE VEHICLE ROLLED AWAY. THIS IS NOT OK! FORD SAID MY 2017 FUSION WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL AND CHARGED $6 FOR THE BUSHING AND $60 TO INSTALL A PART THAT'S BEEN A RECALL ISSUE ON OTHER MODELS. MY CONCERN IS THE SAFETY OF OTHERS AND THE FACT THAT MY VEHICLE IS SURELY ONE OF THE EARLIER 2017 MODELS MANUFACTURED WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AS A RECALLED MODEL WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN MADE JUST A MONTH OR TWO PRIOR. I DO HOPE THAT IT'S LOOKED INTO FOR THE 2017 FORD FUSION MODELS TO BE ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST FOR THE SHIFTER CABLE BUSHING RECALL.

I HAVE A 2017 FORD FUSION TITANIUM WITH THE 2.0L ECOBOOST ENGINE THAT HAS 72,890 MILES. I EXPERIENCED ROUGH IDLE FOR ABOUT A WEEK THEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT CHECKED AND SHOWED THE CODE P0302 WHICH IS A MISFIRE IN CYLINDER 2. WHEN I PROCEEDED TO LEAVE THE PLACE OF BUSINESS WHERE I HAD THE LIGHT CHECKED WHITE SMOKE CAME OUT OF MY EXHAUST UPON START UP AND WAS STILL COMING OUT BY THE TIME I DROVE HOME. I PROCEEDED TO DO MY RESEARCH OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS FOLLOWING AND FOUND OUT IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND FORD WILL ONLY COVER IF UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, EVEN THOUGH IT HAPPENS OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY TIME FRAME JUST AS MUCH AS WITH IN THE WARRANTY WINDOW. I PROCEEDED TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND A DIAGNOSTIC DONE AND THEY SAID THAT EVERYTHING I STATED ABOVE IS EXACTLY THE ISSUE ALONG WITH THE PCM SELF-TEST SHOWING P0217 ENGINE OVER TEMPERATURE CONDITION WAS DETECTED, AND THE ENGINE LONG BLOCK ASSEMBLY DOES HAVE TO BE REPLACED.NOTHING SHOWED UP ON MY DASH TO WARN ME OF OVERHEATING OR ANYTHING OF THE NATURE. ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED.

SO THAT'S WHEN I DECIDED TO ADD TRANSMISSION FLUID. THINKING THAT WOULD MAKE IT BETTER WHEN RETURNING BACK TO DRIVING IT STARTED OFF REAL GOOD RIDING SMOOTHLY LIKE EVER BEFORE. THEN IT OUT OF NO NEUTRALIZE LEAVING MY FOOT REVING THE ENGINE COASTING ALONG THE HIGHWAY, BREAKS LOCKED ON DRIVERS MAKING ME SWERVE AND TAIL WHIP, WHILE ALONG SIDE OF TRUCKS WITH ME AND FAMILY AT RISK OF OUR LIVES AND OTHERS TAKEN BECAUSE OF A POTENTIAL RECALL. MY VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND MY VIN A PART OF THIS RECALL. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER OFFERED TO PAY A PORTION OF THE REPAIRS. *JS

MY CAR HAS APPROXIMATELY 61,000 MILES ON IT AND ONE DAY, I TURNED IT ON AND IT MADE A ROUGH SOUND STARTING UP. I THEN NOTICED MY CAR WAS SHAKING AND THAT MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAD COME ON, SO I ELECTED TO NOT DRIVE IT TO ENSURE NO FURTHER DAMAGE COULD OCCUR. I CONSULTED WITH TWO MECHANICS WHO BOTH STATED THAT FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM MY SPARK PLUGS, CAUSED BY FLUID IN MY CYLINDERS, AND THAT IT WAS NECESSARY TO REPLACE MY ENGINE. THEY PLUGGED CODE READERS IN THAT INDICATED THAT MY SECOND CYLINDER WAS MISFIRING. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE ABOUT THIS ISSUE, I FOUND MANY OTHER CARS OF MY MAKE AND MODEL THAT HAD THE SAME ISSUE, SOME OF WHICH STATED FIRES AND OTHER SERIOUS DANGERS AND WERE ALL WITHIN 15,000 MILES OF USAGE AS MY CAR. I AM DISCOURAGED AND DISAPPOINTED BY THE FACT THAT I WAS SOLD A DEFECTIVE VEHICLE. I PAID GOOD MONEY FOR A CORPORATION TO NEGLECT THEIR MISTAKES AND LAND ME WITH A 400 DOLLAR CAR PAYMENT ON A NONFUNCTIONAL VEHICLE THAT COULD'VE CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES. I INTEND TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9TH, 2021 TO DISCUSS MY OPTIONS.
