TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V904000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) AND 21V158000 (AIR BAGS) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT CALLED ATCHINSON FORD (9800 BELLEVILLE RD, BELLEVILLE, MI 48111, (734) 697-9161) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE PART WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHORTLY AFTER RECEIVING THE LETTER AND WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH OVER A RAILROAD TRACK, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD BUT FAILED TO COMPLETELY STOP THE VEHICLE. Summary of Complaint

MY 2009 FORD FUSION HAS THE ANTILOCK BRAKE PROBLEM IN WHICH THE BRAKE PEDAL DROPS SIGNIFICANTLY AFTER AN ANTI-LOCK STOP EVENT. I RECEIVED THE 19V-904 RECALL NOTICE, HOWEVER FORD IS NOT SUPPLYING THE PARTS TO THE DEALER. FOR THIS REASON, I CAN NOT GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED. MY FUSION EXHIBITS A SEVERE LOW BRAKE PEDAL PROBLEM AFTER AN ANTI-LOCK STOP IN THE WINTER, AND IS DANGEROUS WHEN TRYING TO COME TO A STOP AFTER AN ANTI-LOCK STOP EVENT. I'M AFRAID I WILL END UP IN AN ACCIDENT, AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS WON'T EVEN DRIVE THE CAR ANYMORE DUE TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AS OF THIS WRITING. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE NHTSA PUT SOME PRESSURE ON FORD MOTOR COMPANY TO GET THE PARTS TO THEIR DEALERS SO WE CAN HAVE OUR VEHICLE REPAIRED. WE'VE WAITED A COUPLE YEARS FOR FORD TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. THE RECALL NOTICE FROM JANUARY 2020 STATES THAT "PARTS ARE ANTICIPATED TO BE AVAILABLE LATE FIRST QUARTER 2020." IT IS NOW EARLY THIRD QUARTER, AND STILL NO PARTS. FORD EITHER NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR TIMELY REPAIRS, OR SHOULD BE FORCED TO OFFER A FULL NADA RETAIL BUYBACK OF THESE CARS.

Summary of Complaint

INITIALLY, ON A WET CITY STREET AT 45 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED WITH THE PEDAL GOING TO THE FLOOR. PUMPING THE BRAKE SEEMED TO RESTORE THE BRAKES. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER, TRAVELLING AT 35 MPH ON A DRY CITY STREET, MY BRAKES FAILED AS I APPROACHED A YELLOW TRAFFIC LIGHT. WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR, I TRAVELLED THROUGH THE INTERSECTION ON A RED LIGHT. I TOOK A BACK ROAD TO GET BACK TO MY POINT OF ORIGIN AND WAS UNABLE TO STOP FOR ANY OF THE STOP SIGNS. THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE BOOSTER WERE REPLACED BUT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. AFTER WEEKS OF BEING CHECKED OUT BY A FORD DEALER, THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO ME BUT THE BRAKES ARE STILL SOFT AND FEEL UNSAFE. IT SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE THE CAR ACCELERATES AFTER I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BEFORE THE BRAKING KICKS IN. A LONGER STOPPING DISTANCE IS REQUIRED.
