MY POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT CAME ON MY CAR. I TURNED IT OFF AND BACK ON AND IT WENT OFF AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. THIS MORNING I GET IN MY CAR TO COME WORK AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIGHT CAME ON. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND THEN TURNED IT BACK ON, THIS TIME IT DID NOT GO OFF AND THE POWER STEERING WAS NO DRIVEABLE AT ALL. I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT WASN'T DRIVEABLE AND THEN WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD NO VEHICLES TO LOAN TO US TO DRIVE. UNACCEPTABLE IN OUR BOOK!

WHILE DRIVING, BRAKES WILL INTERMITTENTLY HAVE EXCESSIVE TRAVEL. CAR EVENTUALLY DOES STOP BUT IT DOES REQUIRE INCREASED PEDAL TRAVEL AND INCREASED EFFORT ON THE DRIVER'S PART. SOMETIMES IT IS SELF CORRECTING BUT CURRENTLY IT IS STILL HAPPENING AND HAS NOT SELF-DIRECTED. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WE WERE ON THE INTERSTATE AND HIT A POTHOLE. AFTER WE HAD THE POTHOLE THE BRAKING ISSUE BEGAN. I BELIEVE IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ABS SYSTEM. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR BUT IT USUALLY SELF CORRECTS. IT'S BEEN ALMOST A MONTH AND IT HAS NOT CORRECTED ITSELF YET.

2011 FORD FUSIONS WERE RECALLED IN 2015 FOR SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING. MY 2011 FORD FUSION WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BUT SHOULD HAVE BEEN BECAUSE LAST WINTER I SUDDENLY LOST POWER STEERING WHILE IN MOTION, TURNING IN A PARKING LOT. FORTUNATELY I WASN'T GOING FAST AT THE TIME, AND I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY STOP. THE AUTO SHOP USED "TSB 11-11-03" THAT WAS PUBLISHED ON NOV 3, 2011, WHICH INDICATES THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY KNEW ABOUT HIGH FRICTION ISSUES IN SOME CONTROL ARMS THAT CAN CAUSE THE POWER STEERING TO FAIL. THE AUTO SHOP FOLLOWED THE SERVICE PROCEDURE SPECIFIED IN TSB 11-11-03 AND REPLACED BOTH CONTROL ARMS, WHICH FIXED THE PROBLEM. SINCE THE KNOWN SERVICE PROCEDURE FIXED THE KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING, I PRESUME MY 2011 FORD FUSION SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FROM 2015, AND PERHAPS OTHER EXCLUDED 2011 FORD FUSIONS COULD BE IN JEOPARDY OF THEIR POWER STEERING SUDDENLY FAILING, CONSIDERING MINE DIDN'T FAIL UNTIL NOVEMBER OF 2019.

TWO WEEKS AGO I NOTICED AFTER STARTING THE CAR I DIDN'T HAVE ANY POWER STEERING FOR FEW SECONDS, THEN IT WORKED FINE. A WEEK AGO WHEN I WENT TO START IT , I HAD NO POWER STEERING AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT LIT UP ON THE DASH. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED, AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE, NO FAULT LIGHT AND STEERING WORKED FINE. IT DID THIS COUPLE MORE DAYS UNTIL MARCH 13, 2020, NO POWER STEERING AT ALL, NOT EVEN AFTER RESTARTING. I'M VERY LUCKY THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING. I'M SURE THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. I TOOK IT TO REINEKE FORD IN FINDLAY, OH, AND THEY SAID IT NEEDS A WHOLE NEW STEERING RACK, AND MY CAR IS NOT COVERED IN THE RECALL SINCE MY VIN DIDN'T MATCH THE ONE'S THEY ARE COVERING. MY VIN SHOWS MY CAR WAS MADE IN MEXICO. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW FORD CAN COVER SOME 2011S, BUT NOT MINE THAT HAS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. I HOPE MY CARE WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL SOON. THE BRAKES CONTINUED TO LOOSE PRESSURE FROM TIME TO TIME, SO I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC, WHO FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH BRAKES, MASTER CYLINDER, NO LEAKS, AND ABS HYDRAULIC SYSTEM SHOWED NO WARNINGS. IN RESEARCHING INTERNET COMPLAINTS, I HAVE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME NATURE.
