I TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC ON 11/23/13 WITH COMPLAINTS OF NOISE WITH THE REAR WHEEL BRAKES. WHEN THEY CHECKED THIS OUT, THEY FOUND THE REAR BREAKS HAD WORN OUT AND HAD TO REPLACE THE ROTOR AND THE BRAKE PADS. I HAD THEM DO THE PA STATE & EMISSION INSPECTION EARLY (WERE DUE IN JANUARY 14) WHILE THEY HAD THE CAR. THE TOTAL COST INCLUDING INSPECTION WAS $361.05. THE COST OF THE BRAKE PADS & ROTORS WERE $328.10. I TOOK MY CAR TO HONDA DEALER IN HAMILTON, NJ ON 3/22/14 FORAN OIL CHANGE. DURING THIS VISIT THEY DID A MULTI POINT INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE AND FOUND STATED THAT THE REAR BRAKES HAVE ONLY 5MM (6/32") LINING LEFT. THE MILEAGE AT THIS DATE WAS 36,995 (10,153 MILES AFTER THE LAST REPLACEMENT OF THE ROTORS AND PADS). I WAS SHOCKED TO HEAR THE LINING HAD WORN DOWN TO THIS THICKNESS SO QUICKLY. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS AGAIN BEFORE THE NEXT INSPECTION NOW DUE INNOVEMBER 2014, WHICH WILL COST ME ANOTHER $328.10. *TR

ON JULY 16TH I LEFT MY 2009 HONDA ACCORD IN TO MY TRUSTED MECHANIC FOR MY ANNUAL NEW YORK STATE SAFETY INSPECTION WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO FIX ANYTHING HE FINDS WRONG IN ORDER TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS, SO WHEN I RETURNED FROM OUT OF TOWN, I COULD PICK IT UP AND IT WOULD BE LEGAL AND SAFE. I WAS QUITE SURPRISED TO FIND THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE WORN TO THE POINT WHERE NEW PADS WERE NEEDED FOR IT TO PASS, WHICH HE REPLACED AS DIRECTED. SINCE IT ONLY HAS 23,400 MILES ON IT, A LOT OF THAT HIGHWAY DRIVING, I CALLED HONDA AND FOUND THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM, ALTHOUGH I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED. WHEN I LOOKED ON THE SUGGESTED WEBSITE, ACCORDSETTLEMENT.COM, I READ WHERE YOU HAD TO HAVE HAD THE BRAKES REPLACED WITH HONDA BRAKE PADS IN ORDER TO RECEIVE COMPENSATION FOR THE PREMATURE WEAR, ALTHOUGH I CANNOT IMAGINE ANYONE WANTING TO REPLACE WITH ANOTHER BAD SET OF PADS AND HAVE THIS REOCCUR. THE 2009 MAKES MORE NOISE THAN THE 2016. IT SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE VCT ACTUATOR ON THE CAR. THIS IS JUST AN ISSUE AT STATIONARY STARTUP. WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION THERE IS NO ISSUES. I DID A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH TO SEE AND I PULLED PAGES AND PAGES OF INFO ABOUT PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. IT EVEN SHOWS THAT HONDA IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND THEY SENT OUT SERVICE BULLETINS REGARDING THIS BUT AS TO WHY THE OWNERS ARE STILL HAVING TO PAY FOR THIS IS NOT RIGHT. AND IF YOU WANT TO USE CAR WITHOUT RUNNING BATTERY DOWN MY HUSBAND HAS PULLED A FUSE OR TWO BUT THIS DISABLES SEVERAL THINGS RADIO, SOME DASHBOARD FUNCTIONS. WHICH IF IT KEEPS GOING COULD BE PROBLEMATIC ON THE FUNCTION OF THE HONDA MAYBE AFFECTING LIGHTS EVENTUALLY OR OTHER SAFETY FEATURES. SO WOULD LIKE TO SEE HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM AND HOW BAD IT CAN GET AND HOW IT CAN BE FIXED.
