EVERY SINGLE DAY WHEN I START UP MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD 4 CYCL. AUTOMATIC FROM A COLD START THERE IS A HORRIBLE NOISE (RATTLE) FROM WHAT SOUNDS LIKE THE ENGINE. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN WALDORF, MD HAS TRIED TO FIX THIS PROBLEM 3 OR 4 TIMES. NOW THEY SAY THEY WON'T TRY TO FIX IT ANYMORE, EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. I'VE BEEN TOLD BY HONDA THAT IT IS THE VTC ACTUATOR AND IT IS A DEFECTIVE PART. TIL THIS DAY 5/15/15, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET THE ISSUE RESOLVED. THE PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AFTER I GOT THE CAR. IT IS THE ONLY ANNOYING AND UNNERVING PROBLEM WITH MY HONDA. WHY CAN'T THIS ISSUE BE RESOLVED? I FOUND ALL THESE COMPLAINTS IN THE HONDA TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN AND HAVE BEEN FIGHTING THIS ISSUE WITH HONDA EVER SINCE. OBVIOUSLY HONDA KNOWS ABOUT IT. AT COLD START-UP, CUSTOMERS MAY COMPLAIN ABOUT A LOUD ENGINE RATTLE THAT LASTS FOR ABOUT TWO SECONDS. THE PROBABLE CAUSE IS A FAULTY VTC (VARIABLE TIMING CONTROL) ACTUATOR. I VISITED THE HONDA DEALERSHIP IN STERLING, VA A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND HAD TO GET MY BRAKES REPLACED. AT THAT TIME I ASKED IF THEY COULD FIX MY BACK DRIVER'S SEAT..(MY DAUGHTER WHO IS 10 GOT INTO THE CAR ONE DAY AND KICKED THE BACK SEAT BY ACCIDENT WITH HER FOOT AND IT FELL) I WAS TOLD THEY COULD FIX IT AND THEY COULD DO IT THAT DAY BECAUSE THEY HAD THE PLASTIC CLIPS IN STOCK BUT IT WOULD COST AN ADDITIONAL $197.00 (I CAN'T REMEMBER EXACT AMOUNT) BUT I TOLD THEM I WAS PAYING A LOT OF MONEY ALREADY FOR REPLACING MY BRAKES AND I COULDN'T AFFORD RIGHT NOW AND TOLD THEM I WOULD BE BACK. THE GUYS TRIED TO GET THE CLIP TO HOLD (AND I WAS VERY THANKFUL) BUT AS SOON AS I PULLED OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP IT FELL AGAIN. I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE AND THERE WAS ONE MAN IN PARTICULAR WHO WAS VERY HELPFUL AND I WISHED I HAD HIS NAME TO TELL YOU. SO, I HAD AN APT TODAY AT 9:15 AND GOT THERE AT EARLY AT 8:50. THE GUY FINALLY CAME BACK TO ME ABOUT 10:30 OR SO AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIX THE BACK SEAT BECAUSE THE WAY THIS WAS BUILT WASN'T DONE PROPERLY AND THESE THIS WILL JUST KEEP BREAKING. HE SAID I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE SEAT BACK AND THE COST WOULD BE $335.00 PLUS TAX AND SHOP SUPPLIES. REALLY? I SAID THEN WHY WASN'T I TOLD THIS WHEN I WAS HERE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS A DEFECT IN THE FIRST PLACE? HE SAID SORRY I JUST FIX THE CARS I DON'T MAKE THEM. HE WAS VERY NICE A POLITE BUT I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS AT ALL. I ASKED HIM .... WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME WHEN I WAS HERE BEFORE AND HE REPLIED BECAUSE OF MY MONEY RESTRAINTS. AROUND DECEMBER 20TH, 2012 I STARTED TO NOTICE A DECLINE IN MILEAGE WITH MY OIL CHANGES. IT HAS ONLY GOTTEN WORSE FROM THERE. THE CAR BURNS UP SO MUCH OIL AT THIS POINT SO QUICKLY, I WOULD SAY THAT AT ABOUT EVERY 1000 TO 2000 MILES I AM PUTTING 4QTS MORE OF OIL INTO MY ENGINE BECAUSE IT HAS ALL BURNED UP. I HAVE ALSO NOTICE THAT MY OIL LIGHT NEVER COMES ON DURING THIS TIME. THE ONLY WAY I KNOW THAT I HAVE NO OIL IN MY CAR IS BY CHECKING IT MYSELF AND/OR WHEN I START TO HEAR THE CYLINDERS GRIND. I TOOK MY CAR INTO HONDA AND ASKED THEM WHY MY OIL WAS GETTING BURNED UP SO QUICKLY AND THEY FED ME A LINE OF NONSENSE AND TOLD ME IT WAS BECAUSE WE SIT IN TRAFFIC SO MUCH. THEY BASICALLY WERE TRYING TO GET RID OF ME AND TELL ME IT WAS NORMAL. AFTER THAT EXPERIENCE I WENT TO A JIFFY LUBE A MONTH LATER TO GET MY OIL CHECKED AGAIN AND WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING IN MY ENGINE THAT I HAD NO OIL IN MY CAR WHATSOEVER. HONDA REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. EVEN WITH THE EXCESSIVE OIL USE.
