Summary of Complaint

THE FIRST TIME WE BECAME AWARE OF ANY ISSUE WAS AROUND 3/3/16 (64224MI) WHEN WE STARTED HEARING ENGINE/MUFFLER NOISE AND WE MENTIONED IT WHEN WE BROUGHT CAR IN FOR AIRBAG REPLACEMENT. BY 7/21/16 (67233MI) WE WERE HEARING VERY STRONG MOTOR NOISES AND THE CAR BEGAN TO DRIVE VERY ROUGH. WHEN WE TOOK IT IN THEY ADVISED US WE WERE 3QTS LOW. FROM THE LAST OIL CHANGE AT 60742MI THAT AMOUNTS TO 1.0QT/2164MI. THEY TOLD US WE NEEDED TO DO AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. ON 8/10/16 (67942MI) WE WERE ALREADY 1QT LOW AFTER ONLY 500MI AND THEY ASKED US TO DO AN OIL CHANGE WHEN WE WERE ONLY AT 40% ACCORDING TO THE "OIL LIFE" INDICATOR. BY 12/2/16 WHEN WE FINISHED THE OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AND THEY TOOK SEVERAL WEEKS TO GET BACK WITH US, THEY SAID OUR OIL CONSUMPTION WAS "WITHIN NORMAL LIMITS" ACCORDING TO THE FACTORY. ON 1/9/17 (73743MI) WE REQUESTED HONDA CHECK OUR OIL AND SURE ENOUGH IT WAS DOWN 1.8QTS AFTER 2790MI. THAT'S 1.0QTS/1500MI. THEY SUGGESTED WE DO ANOTHER OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. CLEARLY, HONDA HAS SET CONVENIENT "NORMAL LIMITS" IN ORDER TO DELAY REPAIRS THAT COULD MITIGATE FUTURE ENGINE ISSUES AFTER OUR WARRANTY (OR EXTENDED WARRANTY) HAS EXPIRED. WE HAVE REQUESTED THAT THEY FIX THIS PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL SO WE DO NOT HAVE TO BE GUESSING AS TO WHEN WE NEED TO ADD OIL AND MOST IMPORTANTLY BECAUSE IT HAS MOST DEFINITELY LOWERED THE RESALE VALUE OF OUR CAR AND MADE IT MUCH HARDER TO SELL. THE NUMBER ONE REASON WE PURCHASED THIS CAR WAS FOR IT'S HIGH RESALE VALUE WHICH IT CAN NO LONGER LIVE UP TO.

I HAVE A 2010 HONDA CRV AND IT IS CONSUMING AN EXCESS AMOUNT OF OIL. I HAVE PREFORMED NUMEROUS TESTS WITH THE DEALERSHIP EVERY 1000 MILES PER THE TEST REQUIREMENTS FOR EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION. MY CRV IS CURRENTLY USING 26OZ OF OIL OR MORE EVERY 1000 MILES AND THE DEALERSHIP AND HONDA STATE THAT IT IS WITHIN NORMAL RANGE. THEY STATED THAT I SHOULD CHECK MY OIL EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK. THEY STATED THAT IF I DO NOT CHECK MY OIL EVERY TIME I GET GAS, THE LEVEL MAY GO LOW AND MY ENGINE CAN BLOW UP. I DO NOT THINK IT IS REASONABLE TO HAVE TO CHECK MY OIL EVERY WEEK FOR A KNOWN ISSUE WITH HONDA CRVS FROM 2010 AND IT WOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF MY CAR STOPS WORKING WHILE DRIVING.

HONDA AIR CONDITIONING. MY CAR HAS HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH ITS AIR. MY AIR DIED AGAIN & WHEN I WENT ONLINE I SAW THAT HONDA HAD A CLASS ACTION SUIT THAT I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF, WHICH INVOLVED MY CAR. I SPOKE WITH HONDA ON FRIDAY & THEY ASKED ME TO BRING MY CAR IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC, WHICH I DID THE NEXT DAY IN 95 DEGREE HEAT. WHEN THE DEALERSHIP FOUND OUT I WAS AWARE OF THE CLASS ACTION SUIT & THAT I HAD CONTACTED HONDA, THEY DID EVERYTHING THEY COULD TO SHIFT BLAME FOR THE PROBLEM ONTO US, AS MY HUSBAND HAD PUT FREON INTO THE CAR. THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FREE, BUT WITHIN MINUTES, THEIR REP WAS ASKING ME TO PAY $225 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, WHICH I CAN'T AFFORD, AS I AM DISABLED. WHEN THE CAR WAS FINISHED THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULDN'T COVER ANYTHING, AS IT WAS MY HUSBANDS FAULT THE CONDENSER WAS BAD & THAT IT WOULD BE $1800 TO HAVE IT FIXED OR I COULD TRADE IT IN ON ANOTHER CAR. OH, & THAT I SHOULDN'T USE THE AIR SYSTEM AT ALL, AS IT COULD SPEW OUT METAL SHARDS WHICH COULD CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE. IF WE HAD BEEN NOTIFIED THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE AIR, WE WOULD HAVE NEVER TOUCHED THE SYSTEM, & TO ME IT SEEMED THAT HONDA IS TRYING TO SCREW HONDA OWNERS OVER BY NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FILED ABOUT THIS ISSUE & I'M SURE THERE ARE THOUSANDS MORE PEOPLE, LIKE MYSELF, THAT HAD NO KNOWLEDGE THAT THERE WAS A DEFECT IN THIS SYSTEM. THEY NOTIFIED ME WHEN MY CAR HAD THE PROBLEMS WITH CATCHING FIRE, & NOTIFIED & THEN TOOK THEIR SWEET TIME REPLACING MY AIRBAGS, SO WHY WOULDN'T THEY NOTIFY ME ABOUT SOMETHING AS SERIOUS AS METAL SHARDS BLOWING INTO MY FACE & BODY? I AM DISABLED & ONLY USE MY CAR TO GET BACK & FORTH TO MY MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS & CAN'T AFFORD $1800 FOR A CAR I ONLY USE OCCASIONALLY? IT IS A 2010 WITH 52K MILES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA CR-V. AN INCIDENT REPORT WAS FILED BY THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED NO INJURIES AND MEDICAL TREATMENT. THE DEALER BERNARDI HONDA IN NATICK, 960 WORCESTER ST, NATICK, MA 01760, (508) 319-5400 WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND WAS WAITING ON THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE WHEN THE INSURANCE COMPANY MAY HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND WAS ASSIGNED A CASE WORKER WHO INFORMED THAT ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS RELEASED FROM THE AUTO BODY SHOP IT WOULD BE TOWED TO A DEALER FOR A MECHANICAL AND COMPUTER ANALYSIS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL STALLED ENGINE INCIDENTS WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND ALSO STATIONARY AT A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT. NO ENGINE LIGHT HAS TURNED ON LEADING TO A WIRING ISSUE PERHAPS. THERE ARE THE IGNITION CIRCUIT COUPLER FAILURE (11V004000) AND THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE (11V395000) HOWEVER MY VIN IS NOT APART OF THAT RECALL. I AM SCARED AND FEAR FOR MY LIFE THAT THIS STALLED ENGINE ISSUE WILL CAUSE MY CAR TO GET INTO AN ACCIDENT OR EVEN WORST HAVE SOMEONE ELSE AND I GET KILLED.
