I WAS NOT AWARE THAT HONDA HAD A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING PUMP. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR OVER A YEAR. MY LOCAL DEALER (AUTOPARKS HONDA, CARY, NC) IS TELLING ME THAT THE RECALL IS OVER AND THE EXTENDED RECALL IS OVER SO THEY CANNOT FIX IT AT NO COST TO ME. ORIGINAL OWNER OF 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN. AROUND 60,000 MILES AND WHILE STILL UNDER THE HONDA CARE WARRANTY, THE CAR BEGAN TO SHUDDER AT 20-40 MPH SPEEDS WHEN SHIFTING GEARS. SIMILAR TO THE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT TORQUE CONVERTER AND TRANSMISSIONS. THIS IS SCARY AND I KNOW NOT WHAT COULD HAPPEN WHEN TRANSMISSION DECIDES TO LET GO COMPLETELY. LOCAL HONDA DEALER CHECKED THE VEHICLE TWO TIMES BEFORE THE WARRANTY RAN OUT (JULY OF 2010) AND "COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY DROVE IT." ABSENT A RECALL BY HONDA TO CORRECT THIS DEFICIENCY, THE REPORTED PROBLEMS WILL CONTINUE TO GROW UNTIL SOMEONE GETS HURT. I HAVE A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY EX. SUMMER OF 2007 THE STRUTS WENT OUT THE REAR LIFTGATE SLAMMED DOWN NEARLY CATCHING MY HAND AS I WAS UNLOADING ITEMS. THE STRUTS WERE REPLACED. LAST SUMMER OF 2008 THE STRUTS FAILED AGAIN AND I WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE GATE AND IT WOULD SLAM SHUT. THEY REPLACED THE STRUTS. THIS SUMMER, AUGUST 2009 THEY FAILED AGAIN. HONDA IS NOT WILLING TO REPLACE THE STRUTS AT NO COST TO ME AT THIS POINT. THE HATCH SLAMS DOWN AND COULD EASILY DECAPITATE A PERSON THAT WAS LEANING INTO THE VEHICLE. AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING A HOLE IN THE A/C CONDENSER WHICH HONDA DEALER STATED WAS CAUSED BY ROAD DEBRIS WHICH WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. AFTER RESEARCHING FURTHER THE OBVIOUS CAUSE OF THIS WAS AN ENGINEERING DESIGN FLAW .- THE A/C CONDENSER WAS COMPLETELY EXPOSED TO ALL THE ELEMENTS OF THE ROAD WITH NO GRILLE/PROTECTION IN FRONT OF IT. HONDA SHOULD RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND INSTALL A GRILLE IN FRONT OF THE CONDENSER TO PROTECT IT, AND REIMBURSE THOSE OF US WHO HAVE PAID TO HAVE CONDENSERS REPLACED DUE TO THEIR ERROR. THIS CAR HASN'T WORKED SINCE WE FIRST GOT IT ON THE LOT. ALL THE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN ELECTRICAL. FIRST PROBLEM NOTED WAS THE RIGHT PASSENGER DOOR NOT OPENING WHEN THE BUTTON WAS PRESSED. IT WOULD OPEN ABOUT 1/4 INCH AND THEN START BEEPING. IT THEN IS STUCK AND THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN IT IS TO MANUALLY PULL THE DOOR OPEN. SIMILAR PROBLEM ON THE LEFT SIDE, BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS ON THE LEFT PASSENGER DOOR, THE WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FREEZES UP - CAN'T OPEN OR SHUT THE DOOR, CAN'T LOCK/UNLOCK DOORS. MUST SHUT CAR DOWN AND RE-START. SPARE TIRE CAME LOOSE AND CAUSE LOUD RATTLING IN BACK LEFT PART OF CAR. SIX WEEKS AFTER PURCHASE, WENT ON TRIP. RETURNED TO AIRPORT & CAR WAS DEAD. GOT A JUMP. NEXT DAY NOTICED THAT BACK-UP BEEPERS/SENSORS NOT WORKING. AT ONE POINT, A TROUBLE LIGHT ON THE DASH LIT UP FOR NO REASON & DIDN'T GO OUT FOR A FEW WEEKS. JUST TRIED OUT THE CRUISE CONTROL A FEW WEEKS AGO - IT DOESN'T WORK. THIS CAR IS A LEMON.
