Summary of Complaint

WE ARE THE ONLY OWNER OF THE VAN BOUGHT BRAND NEW FROM A HONDA DEALER. AT APPROXIMATELY 145K MILES THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A SECOND OPINION WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALERS WANTED A SMALL FORTUNE TO REPAIR IT, MORE THAN THE CAR WAS WORTH IT. I LEARNED THAT IT IS A TYPICAL PROBLEM WITH THOSE HONDA ODYSSEYS. THE CAR HAS BEEN REPAIRED THOUGH.

Summary of Complaint

ON SATURDAY AUGUST 1, 2015, I WAS ON MY WAY FROM THE AIRPORT WITH THREE OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS WHEN THE VAN SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. UPON SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO RESTART IT, THE VAN WOULD CRANK, BUT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. MY FUEL GAUGE AND LIGHT WERE NOT INDICATING NO FUEL (WHICH WAS THE FIRST THING THAT THE OFFICER WHO ASSISTED IN PUSHING THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD LOOKED AT). THE LOCAL AUTO REPAIR SHOP RAN A DIAGNOSTICS ON THE VEHICLE AND DECIDED THAT ALL THE VEHICLE'S SIX CYLINDERS WERE MIS-FIRING DUE TO LOW FUEL PRESSURE (5PSI) AND THAT I NEEDED A NEW FUEL PUMP. THE LAST TIME I HAD DRIVEN THE VAN PRIOR TO AUGUST 1, WAS JULY 21, 2015 WHEN I TOOK IT TO HONDA DEALER FOR THE FUEL PUMP FILTER REPLACEMENT (THE VEHICLE HAD 147,504 MILES ON IT LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP). THE DEALER CALLED TO TELL ME THAT THE REASON WHY THE VEHICLE STOPPED WAS THAT I HAD RUN OUT OF FUEL. I ASKED HOW THE CYLINDER MISFIRINGS AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT CAME ON EARLIER ON AUGUST 1ST WAS RELATED TO AN EMPTY TANK, THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT THEY WERE RELATED. BUT HE SAID HE COULD NOT PROMISE THAT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STALL AGAIN BECAUSE ALL THE FUEL PUMP PART COULD BE GETTING OLD AND FAILING. NOW, ABOUT THE FUEL GAUGE THAT "FAILED" TO WORK AFTER THE FUEL PUMP RECALL WORK WAS DONE, THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND CLAIMED THAT THEIR TECHNICIAN RECHECKED WHAT HE DID ON JULY 21ST AND FOUND NO PROBLEM WITH IT. FURTHERMORE, IT APPEARS THAT THE PROBLEM WITH THE 2005 ODYSSEY FUEL PUMP IS DEEPER THAN THE "FILTER" REPLACEMENT PATCH THAT HONDA HAS IMPROVISED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. PLEASE HELP US GO AFTER HONDA OF AMERICA TO DO THE RIGHT THING BY REPLACING ALL DEFECTIVE FUEL PUMPS AND NOT JUST THE FUEL PUMP FILTER.

Summary of Complaint

SUMMER OF 2014 MY 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY WAS LOSING POWER ON THE ROAD TO THE POINT I HAD TO BE TOWED TO MY MECHANIC. TURNED OUT I WAS LOW ON OIL WITH NO LEAKS AT ALL AND NOT DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE. THIS IS VERY STRESSFUL ON MY ENGINE. MY VAN IS ONLY USED FOR LOCAL TRAVEL, ABOUT 20 MILES PER DAY AND I HAVE BEEN NEEDING TO ADD OIL ABOUT ONCE PER MONTH, STILL WITH NO LEAKS. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR HONDA ODYSSEYS 2008-2013 FOR EXCESSIVE OIL BURNING, ENTERING THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER AND BURNING EXCESSIVE OIL AT NORMAL OPERATING SPEEDS AND CONDITIONS. COPIED FROM THE INTERNET, HTTP://WWW.HONDAPROBLEMS.COM/TRENDS/EXCESSIVE-OIL-CONSUMPTION/ THE ORIGINAL LAWSUIT CLAIMS HONDA HID THE PROBLEM FROM CONSUMERS. HONDA DENIED THE ALLEGATION, DESPITE ISSUING A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB #11-033) IN JULY OF 2011 THAT QUIETLY ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM. THE TSB STATES THAT "THE VCM (VARIABLE CYLINDER MANAGEMENT) MAY BE REPEATEDLY SWITCHING ON AND OFF DURING LIGHT THROTTLE OPERATION, AT CRUISING SPEEDS, ON FLAT ROADS." ESSENTIALLY, THE ENGINE IS WORKING MUCH HARDER THAN IT HAS TO IN NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. IN FACT, IF YOUR COMMUTE DOESN'T CONSIST OF CLIMBING THROUGH THE ROCKIES, YOU'RE PROBABLY GOING TO SEE MORE OIL CONSUMPTION THAN NORMAL. JUST SPOKE TO AMERICAN HONDA WHO ADVISED I NEED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO HONDA FOR AN INSPECTION.

Summary of Complaint

WE TOOK OUR VAN IN FOR SERVICING AND COMPLAINED TO THE HONDA SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE THAT WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING VEHICLE VIBRATIONS THAT BECAME WORSE DURING REGULAR HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN THE VARIABLE CYLINDER MANAGEMENT (VCM) SYSTEM SHIFTED FROM 6 TO 4 CYLINDERS AND BACK AGAIN. WE ALSO STARTED EXPERIENCING A DISTINCT "CLUNK" SOUND DURING OUR VACATION TRIP IN LATE JUNE. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT THREE MOTOR MOUNTS ("FRONT, REAR AND SIDE MOTOR MOUNTS") HAD FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACING. THE REPAIRS WERE MADE, AS WELL AS AN OIL/FILTER CHANGE, AND VEHICLE MULTI-POINT INSPECTION. THE SUBTOTAL COST FOR JUST THE MOTOR MOUNT REPLACEMENT PARTS AND LABOR WAS $987.13. WE DISCOVERED SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY WITH THE REAR MOTOR, HAS BEEN REPORTED NUMEROUS TIMES BY OTHER 2005, 2006, & 2007 HONDA ODYSSEY EXL & TOURING MODEL OWNERS. WE ARE NOW SEEKING "GOODWILL CONSIDERATION" FOR ALL, OR MOST OF THE MOTOR MOUNT REPLACEMENT COST, SINCE LEARNING THAT THE ODYSSEY HASN'T BEEN RECALLED FOR CHECKS SINCE THE 1 DECEMBER 2006 SERVICE BULLETIN 06-083. *TR

Summary of Complaint

I HAVE VERY LOW MILEAGE AND THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO BE GOING OUT. ALSO THE REAR MAIN SEAL HAS BLOWN. THE MECHANIC SAYS BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION IT AFFECT THE REAR SEAL. I KNOW HONDA HAS HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH ITS TRANSMISSIONS AND THEY HAVE HELPED SOME PEOPLE AND NOT OTHERS. I FILED A CLAIM AND WAS DENIED YET IT SEEMS THERE ARE ISSUES THAT ARE THE SAME AS OTHERS THAT HAVE BEEN HELPED. *TR

AT HIGHWAY SPEED, WE NOTICED A THUNK SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. WHEN WE STOPPED, WE NOTICED THAT THE REAR SPOILER OF OUR 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY HAD COME OFF. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, THE DANGER IS THE PIECE OF THE CAR FLYING THROUGH THE AIR IN THE HIGHWAY. THE PART IS THE SIZE OF A 2X4, IT WAS LOCATED AT THE ROOF LINE ABOVE THE REAR GATE. I DO NOT KNOW IF ANYONE HIT THE PART ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR

MICHELIN TIRES ENERGY LX4 235/65/R16-103T-WENT IN TO DEALER TODAY FOR ALIGNMENT. SAID THEY COULD NOT DO IT AS ALL 4 TIRES ARE SEPARATING ON THE INSIDES. ALL 4 AT ONCE? THIS IS ON A 2005 HONDA ODYSSEY VAN- THIS VAN HAS BEEN MAINTAINED TO THE UTMOST. AS A SALEPERSON-I LIVE IN IT. ALSO IN THE WEEKENDS I PUT SOME OF MY 10 GRANDCHILDREN IN IT. THE MOST VALUABLE CARGO ANYONE CAN HAVE. REASON FOR THE HONDA BRAND. SAFETY ETC. I WAS IN SHOCK WHEN TOLD THIS TOOK IT TO A LOCAL TIRE PLACE GOT SECOND OPINION. I ROTATE TIRES EVERY 2000 MILES AS I CHANGE OIL EVERY 1000 MILES. THIS IS VERY VERY UPSETTING AS DANGEROUS. AS IF I DRIVE IT THEY WILL BLOW. THE STEEL BELTS ARE GOING TO COME THROUGH THE INSIDE SIDEWALLS. WHAT ON EARTH!!! I WOULD EXPECT THIS FROM A FLY BY NIGHT COMPANY. BUT SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED WITH A BLOW OUT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD MICHELIN WILL DO NOTHING AS THEY HAVE HAD OTHER COMPLAINTS AND TIRES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. NOT TO WASTE MY TIME EVEN CONTACTING THEM. GO RIGHT TO THIS WEB SITE AND LET ALL KNOW ABOUT THEN PROBLEM. NOT JUST ONE SIZE MANY MANY SIZES OF MICHELINS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. GOD BLESS I FOUND OUT WITHOUT DAMAGE TO MY FAMILY OR SOMEONE ELSE'S ON THE HIGHWAY WITH ME. *TR
