Summary of Complaint

For no reason, the driver-side airbag light has come on (and stays on) in our 2-door 2012 Hyundai Elantra. It puts our daughter and son at risk, as the two drivers of the car, because the airbag may be defective and not deploy in the event of an accident. That is unacceptable. This is an auto-maker safety issue, and the consumer should NOT be responsible for having to get this repaired on their dime. Yet everything I read online is other Hyundai drivers have gotten this and the dealers are gouging them on the repairs. We will take it into the dealer, but in no way, shape or form should we have to pay for this repair! Please pay attention - many Hyundai drivers are reporting this same issue online, even if they are not reporting it directly to you at NHTSA!

WHEN I'M DRIVING AND I COME TO A STOP MY CAR WOULD MAKE CLANKING NOISES I TURN MY CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON AND IT WOULD STOP. WHEN IT WAS TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE I CHANGED MY OIL AND ONE NIGHT I'M DRIVING HOME AND IT MAKES THE CLANKING NOISE AGAIN ALONG WITH A BURNT SMELL I PULL OVER TURN MY CAR OFF TURN BACK ON IT STILL CLANKING AND HAS CLANKED EVER SINCE. Summary of Complaint

WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN NORMAL NON SLICK ROAD CONDITIONS, MY VEHICLES ESC LIGHT BEGAN TO BLINK. UNEXPECTEDLY, AND WITHOUT MY FOOT DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, MY VEHICLE DECELERATED FROM 55MPH TO 20MPH. THE FRONT LEFT TIRE CEASED TO ROTATE AND TORQUE WAS LOST TO THE ENGINE. THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN AND I IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF THE ESC SYSTEM AND DROVE HOME. THAT EVENING I RECEIVED THE NOTICE RECALL FOR EXACTLY THE ISSUE I HAD ENCOUNTERED. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TWO DAYS LATER TO SANSONE HYUNDAI WHERE THEY AGREED AFTER READING THE CAR'S COMPUTER THAT THE ESC ISSUE HAD INDEED OCCURRED. THE TECHNICIAN THEN EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THEY "RESET THE COMPUTER AND THIS PROBABLY SHOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN". HE WENT ON TO EXPLAIN THERE IS NO CURRENT SOLUTION, AND I HAVE TO BE PATIENT. I APPRECIATE THE FACT A SOLUTION HAS NOT YET BEEN FOUND BUT, I AM NOW FEARFUL TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. I WAS UNBELIEVABLE LUCKY THAT THERE WERE NO DRIVER'S BEHIND ME AND THAT I WAS NEAR THE SHOULDER WHEN THE SYSTEM FAILED. IF THOSE LUCKY CONDITIONS HAD NOT BEEN PRESENT I COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I FEEL I SHOULD HAVE BEEN PROVIDED WITH A LOANER VEHICLE IN THE MEANTIME. I PURCHASED MY HYUNDAI BECAUSE I FELT THEY WERE SAFE, RELIABLE CARS WITH GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. HAVE TALKED WITH HYUNDAI 3 TIMES ABOUT THIS ISSUE, SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNTIL THEY SEE IT HAPPENING THEMSELVES. I AM HAVING TO PRESS THE GAS HARD TO GO AT LEAST 50 MPH. YESTERDAY 10/19/2015. I STOP TO GET GAS. FULL MY TANK UP, GET IN THE CAR AND THE WON'T START AGAIN! PRESS MY FOOT ON THE GAS, CAR WON'T START. HAD TO CALL TRIPLE A AND THEY SAY MY BATTERY IS LOW. THIS FIRST INCIDENT WAS IN MID-OCTOBER. THREE WEEKS AGO, AFTER 2 MONTHS, AROUND DEC 20TH, 2014, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. SAME THING. JUST DEAD. BATTERY FINE. EVERYTHING WORKING BUT THE CAR. TRIED A HALF DOZEN TIMES, MOVING THE TRANNY SHIFTER, ETC. WENT IN THE HOUSE, CAME BACK OUT, STARTED LIKE NOTHING WAS WRONG. A WEEK AGO, SAME. THIS MORNING, JAN 8, 2015, AGAIN, SAME THING.
