ESC failed. I was attempting to make a left turn from a stopped position at a typical intersection. I lost control of the vehicle as it started to fishtail once I began the turn. Brakes did not respond and I ended up hitting the curb on the outer lane with both front and rear tires. Side curtain and passenger seat airbags deployed. Vehicle is now a total loss. I believe the faulty ESC poises a lot more risk that just a fire. From other reports on genesis forums by consumers like me, this problem with Hyundai's ESC seems to be a common and reoccurring problem. Recall should be updated to include that ESC may fail and makes the vehicle unsafe to drive.

The DAB module assembly (air bag system) driver's side has to be replaced due to failure. Only warning was a creaking sound from the steering column when turning. Although I have an extended warranty, never been in an accident, and the car is only 6 years old with 44,000 miles, the extended warranty for the air bags is only for 5 years. The rear passenger door will not open from inside or from outside of the vehicle. The door lock mechanism has failed internally while the door was shut. This causes a safety issue as passengers are not able to exit the vehicle in an emergency event. Worse, a child car seat is not able to be accessed as the door will not open. There are not warning lights in the vehicle to alert you that the door lock/handle mechanism has failed. Hyundai/Genesis will not repair the defective components under warranty, as they consider it a wear item. As the door will not open it is extremely difficult to repair this issue. The door panel has to be cut off which renders it destroyed. The door lock/latch mechanism has failed at 60000 miles and with a vehicle that is 6 years old. This is a huge safety issue as people will become trapped in a crash, which can lead to injury and loss of life.

There is an electrical issue that could malfunction internally and cause an electrical short, potentially resulting in an engine compartment fire. The front bulb for the daylight running lamps/ lane changing blinker has been consistently stopped working and/or blown out. The dealer where I purchased the vehicle has worked on the vehicle a minimum of six times, changing the electrical harnesses (among other things) with no success. When looking up this issue on the internet, other owners have reported this problem with the 2015 model and older Hyundai Genesis. Hyundai did changed the daylight running lights in 2016. On a few occasions (3 times), the headlights turned off at night which may or may not be related. I have another appointment in ten days to address the situation once again.

This issue has started with my car stalling out in a parking lot sitting idle. The car just turned off. I restarted the car and it turned off again. After this happened i have noticed turning my car on its slow - like the battery is dieing. I went to Hyundai to get a diagostic test and nothing came up and they could not duplicate the car turning over slowly. Since then my car is still slow to start - "sometimes" . NOW, I can go out and if I have to make several stops - it is garanteed to start slow and get stuck with the Auto Brake on - Which you can not release. SECOND ISSUES THE LEFT SIDE BACK PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE CAME APART THE SAME WAY TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR IT JUST COMPLETELY CAME OFF. I CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY USAA FILE A CLAIM TOOK THE VEHICLE TO CALIBER COLLISION HEAR IN KYLE, TEXAS AND THEY GLUED BACK ON NO PIECES BROKE OFF INSIDE THE DOOR. NOW I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE RIGHT SIDE HEADLIGHT BULB THAT KEEPS GOING OUT WHILE IM DRIVING. I TOOK IT TO SOUTH POINT HYUNDAI JULY 6,, 2020 FOR THIS ISSUE. ACCORDING TO THE SERVICE REPORT THEY IDENTIFIED THE BULB NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND REPLACED IT. I TOLD THEM THE BULB IS NOT THE PROBLEM, THEY NEEDED TO FIND OUT WHATS CAUSING IT TO GO OUT. ON JULY 7, 2020 BULB WENT OUT AGAIN RETUNED BACK TO SOUTH POINT HYUNDAI ALL THEY DID WAS OPENED THE HOOD THE SERVICE GUY GIGGLED SOMETHING ON THE RIGHT SIDE HEADLIGHT AND IT CAME ON, I TOLD HIM THATS IS SO UNPROFESSIONAL AND SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED JUST TO GET MY HEADLIGHT TO WORK. ON SEPTEMBER 7, 2020 BULB WENT OUT AGAIN CALL SEPTEMBER 8, 2020 THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME TO BRING THE CAR IN AFTER I EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED FOR THE SECOND TIME AFTER IVE BEEN CHARGED FOR THE SERVICE THAT DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. ONCE I REACHED SOUTH POINT HYUNDAI THE SERVICE MANAGER JOHN WAYNE DRIVE MY VEHICLE AROUND THE BACK DROVE BACK AFTER 30 MINUTES AND TOLD ME ITS GOING TO COST ME $130. NOT INCLUDING LABOR TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I JUST LEFT VERY UPSET.
