It seems that the white 2015, 2016 and 2017 models need to be recalled due to a paint issue. From my understanding there is a "defect" with only the white paint and it seems the vehicles are peeling in the same exact spots as I have shown here. I took my vehicle to Hyundai of Greer on Wade Hampton Blvd in Greer, SC and they told me I would have to pay out of pocket to get these spots taken care of because the original manufacturer warranty has expired and CPO warranty will not cover. Clearly there is a defect or flaw in the white paint and consumers should not have to pay for such issue.

My motor to my vehicle all of a sudden started making noises as I was on my way home and dropped speed and didn’t accelerate past 55MPH, my car started stuttering every time I hit the gas and it won’t go past 2000RPM and my check engine light started blinking at me. The safety issue with this is that when it stutters it could cause a potential crash and put me and others in danger. I took it to a Swope Hyundai dealership and they told me the barrings just automatically became damaged and the motor has to be replaced. I had this car for less than a year and it already starting to have problems. This issue happened 05/18/2021. The issues before the problems started becoming more severe was constant stuttering after I drove off after being to a complete stop from a red light. I’m extremely irritated as to this is the car that is suppose to help me get to work and college yet I can’t because it just decided to just break down on me in less than a YEAR!

WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WITH A 55 MPH SPEED LIMIT, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR HESITATED AND WAS DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN THE SPEED LIMIT. THE CODE, P200A IS DESCRIBED IN A HYUNDAI TECHNICAL SERVICE REPORT FOR 2015 - 2016 SONATAS HOWEVER AFTER TAKING THE CAR INTO NEW PORT RICHEY HYUNDAI I WAS TOLD THAT THE SERVICE BULLETIN DIDN'T APPLY TO MY VEHICLE. IT IS A DANGER TO DRIVE WITH THE CONTROL UNIT FAILING AND MAY AT ANY TIME CAUSE THE CAR TO DECELLARATE.

1/2 MILE AFTER STARTING MY VEHICLE AND DRIVING APPROX 30 MPH, MY CAR SHUTTERED AND SHOOK. PULLED OVER AND IT SEEMED TO FIX ITSELF SO I CONTINUED 23 MILES TO WORK. THREW ON MY HAZARDS AND THE SCREEN INDICATED I SHOULD PUT IT IN PARK AND RESTART. THE BATTERY LIGHT AND MASTER INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. CAR RESTARTED AND THE LIGHTS DISAPPEARED. WENT STRAIGHT TO HYUNDAI DEALER. THEY ATTEMPTED A 17 MILE ROAD TEST THE NEXT DAY AFTER THE CAR SAT OVERNIGHT AND IT DID NOT REPEAT THE ISSUE. NOTHING WAS STORED IN THE COMPUTER SYSTEM FROM WHEN THE LIGHTS CAME ON. THEY HAVE NO EXPLANATION. OIL WAS CHANGED AND TOOK CAR BACK AT 5PM THE DAY AFTER THE ISSUE TOOK PLACE. DROVE 24 MILES TO WORK TODAY AND IT DID NOT REPEAT YET.

AT ABOUT 12:00 PM ON 7 APRIL 2017, I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT ON A MAJOR THOROUGHFARE (50 MPH SPEED LIMIT). WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I DEPRESSED THE GAS PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO THE DEALER AND TURNED IT OVER TO THEM FOR DIAGNOSIS/REPAIR. THE DEALER COULD NEITHER DETECT ANY PROBLEM NOR DUPLICATE THE INCIDENT. ACCORDING TO THEIR WRITE-UP: "SCANNED FOR CODES. NO DTCS AT THIS TIME. FUEL PRESSURE IS NORMAL. 10 MILE TEST DRIVE AND UPDATE HAS ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED....UNABLE TO DUPLICATE..." THIS MORNING, I LEARNED THAT HYUNDAI HAS RECALLED 1.2 MILLION VEHICLES AND SYMPTOMS OF THE PROBLEM ARE EXACTLY THOSE THAT MY VEHICLE EXHIBITED. HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE IS A 2015 MODEL AND DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE COVERED BY THE RECALL, NOTWITHSTANDING THE PROBLEM I EXPERIENCED YESTERDAY. SHORTLY AFTER EXITING INTERSTATE AND SLOWDOWN FOR SIGNAL, I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE, LIKE I WASN'T EVEN GIVING IT GAS. IT WAS LIKE THE PASSING GEAR WOULD NOT ENGAGE. AFRAID MY CAR WOULD JUST STALL AGAIN, I DID NOT PURSUE HEAVY ACCELERATION OR PASSING GEAR ATTEMPTS ANY FURTHER. THEN THIS HAPPENED TODAY.
