THE 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES HAVE AN ISSUE WHERE THE INJECTORS GET REALLY HOT AND CAUSE ENGINE MISFIRE AND COULD CATCH ON FIRE DUE TO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BEING RIGHT UNDERNEATH THEM. THE RECALL WAS ALREADY ISSUE FOR THESE JEEPS BY PROVIDING INSULATORS THAT ARE PUT ON THE INJECTORS AND BETWEEN ON THE INJECTORS AND THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. MY JEEP ALREADY HAD THE INSULATOR INSTALLED BUT BECAUSE THE VALVE COVER GASKET BROKE AND LEAKED OIL ALL OVER THE INSULATOR BLANKET AND SOAKED IT WITH OIL AND MADE IT A FIRE A HAZARD, I THREW IT AWAY THINKING THAT I CAN JUST BUY A NEW ONE FROM CHRYSLER. I WENT ONTO IWANTMOPAR.COM, A FCA DEALERSHIP (MCGOVERN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM ON 777 WASHINGTON ST, NEWTON, MA 02460), AND ORDERED SIX INJECTOR SHIELDS AND AN INSULATOR BLANKET TO REPLACE THE ONE THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY ON MY JEEP. THREE WEEK PASSED AND I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM THEM REFUSING TO SELL ME THE RECALL PARTS, STATING THAT MY JEEP HAD THESE PARTS ALREADY. HOW CAN A DEALERSHIP REFUSE TO SELL ME PARTS THAT MAKE MY JEEP SAFE AND COMPLIANT WITH FEDERAL LAWS? THANKS

COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY LOOSE ALL POWER. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE PISTON SKIRT HAD CRACKED AND EVENTUALLY BROKE AWAY CAUSING A COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE ENGINE. RESOLUTION WAS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THIS IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP 4.0 ENGINE AFTER THE PISTON WAS REDESIGNED AROUND 2000-2001. THE EVENT LEADING TO THE WINDOW REGULATOR BRAKING WAS USE OF THE WINDOW. THE REGULATOR FAILED AT 32,485 MILES. THE WINDOW WOULD NOT STAY UP. THE JEEP DEALER WAS ABLE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM WITH NEW PARTS. I HAVE FOUND WHILE LOOKING THROUGH THE NHTSA WEBSITE THAT THIS IS YET ONE MORE EXAMPLE OF CHRYSLER'S POOR QUALITY COMPONENTS THAT I CAN LOOK FORWARD TO REPLACING REGULARLY JUST AS I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE WARPED ROTORS EVERY 12,000 TO 15,000 MILES. *JB

THE ROTORS ON MY 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WARPED AT 12,000 MILES. CHRYSLER REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS, CALIPERS, AND ROTORS. THE ROTORS WARPED AGAIN AT 29,000 MILES--ONLY 17,000 MILES LATER. DURING BOTH FAILURES, THERE WAS A NOTICEABLE PULSATING, SHAKING SENSATION FROM THE FRONT END WHEN BRAKING AT SPEEDS OF 30-35 MPH AND ABOVE. THE KEY EVENT LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE WAS USE OF THE BRAKES--UNFORTUNATELY THE BRAKES ARE A VERY INTEGRAL COMPONENT OF MY JEEP--AS THEY ARE FOR THE MANY OTHER OWNERS OF 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THIS VERY SAME FAILURE OVER AND OVER AGAIN. BRAKES THAT DON'T WORK OR PERFORM THE WAY THEY ARE DESIGNED AND INTENDED TO WORK ARE A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. I IMPLORE YOU TO ISSUE A RECALL SINCE CHRYSLER WILL DO NOTHING PAST THE 12,000 MILE POINT. THE POWER WIDOWS FAIL DUE TO A PLASTIC PART THAT HOLDS THE CABLE TOGETHER. THE REPLACEMENT PART COSTS $214.00 AT THE DEALERSHIP ONLY, AND THAT IS THE WHOLE MECHANISM, NOT JUST THE PART THAT BREAKS.
