THE INSTALLATION ON THIS VECHICLE IS ON THE REAR FLOOR BEHIND THE DRIVER. IF THE UNIT WERE TO GET WET AND THE BRAKES LOCK UP IT COULD CAUSE THE MOTOR HOME OPERATOR TO LOSE CONTROL AND/OR CAUSE SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE MOTORHOME OR TOWED VECHICLE. My Jeep Wrangler was having significant engine issues with shaking, random noises and vibrations, and it turns out the Engine Oil Cooler had a crack in it and leaked oil all over the intake manifold/under carriage of the vehicle. Upon speaking with over 15 dealerships in Southern California, they noted that there were over 40,000 of this replacement part on back-order as of March 2020. I had to wait two months to get the part delivered, which meant I went two months without a vehicle, and then had to pay over $800+ on a part + labor on an item that should absolutely be recalled. There are thousands of posts on Wrangler Forum and other Jeep pages that share the exact same issue. Jeep has ignored this issue since 2014, and it's only occurring in more vehicles now. This part breaking can cause engine seizure or failure and should not be a cost to the customer as there is CLEARLY a nation-wide problem that Chrysler is ignoring.

TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT IS LEAKING FROM A CRACKED "ENGINE OIL COOLER AND OIL FILTER HOUSING ADAPTER". CALLED AROUND FOR THIS PART AND ALL DEALERS HAD A BACK ORDER ON THIS PART AND DIDN'T KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD BE GETTING THEM IN. FINALLY LOCATED ONE FROM A DEALER IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA THROUGH A PERSON I KNEW PERSONALLY THAT WORKED FOR A DEALER. HE SAID THERE HAVE BEEN MORE THAN 4,200 ORDERS FOR THIS PART IN JUST SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA. THIS IS A VERY BIG PROBLEM! THIS CAN LEAD TO THE ENGINE CATCHING FIRE. ALSO A VERY EXPENSIVE COST FOR JUST THE PART AND THAN THEY STILL HAVE TO REMOVE THE UPPER AND LOWER INTAKE PLENUM GASKETS NEEDING REPLACEMENT WHEN THIS PART IS REPLACED. THE LEAKING OF OIL HAS BEEN HAPPENING OVER A WEEK OR SO.

THERE IS ENGINE OIL AND COOLANT POOLED IN THE VALLEY BETWEEN THE ENGINE HEADS, UNDERNEATH THE INTAKE MANIFOLD. THE OIL FILTER/COOLER ASSEMBLY IS LEAKING EITHER THE O-RINGS ARE BAD OR THE PLASTIC HOUSING HAS CRACKED. RESEARCHING I FOUND THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE FOR SOME TIME. CLEARLY A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. WHY NO RECALLS? PLUS THE PART FROM RETAILERS STATE THE THE PART IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE.

THIS PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND NOT EXPECTED TO BE AVAILABLE FOR 45 OR MORE DAYS. THIS TELLS ME THAT IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE MANUFACTURING OF THE VEHICLE. WHAT IF I HAD NOT NOTICED THE OIL THAT HAD LEAKED OUT AND MY THE ENGINE LOCK UP WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY.

HOWEVER, THE JEEP HAS LESS THAN 50K MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THE REPAIR WILL BE DONE BY MY SELF AS MY ABILITIES ARE COMPETENT AND I REFUSE TO PAY 1200.00 DOLLARS FOR A MECHANIC OR DEALERSHIP TO PERFORM THIS TASK, PARTICULARLY SEEING THE TOTAL COST OF PARTS IS LESS THAN 250.00. FCA SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE AS LEAKS IN THE LUBRICATING AND COOLING SYSTEM COULD RESULT IN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE, VEHICLE FIRES, LOSS OF LIFE OR GREAT BODILY HARM AND HARM TO SURROUNDING INDIVIDUALS, PROPERTY AND/OR THE ENVIRONMENT.
