A SMALL CHIP WAS ON FOUND ON THE FRONT OF THE WINDSHIELD AND I WAS NOTIFIED BY THE DEALER THAT THE CHIP WAS SMALL AND THAT THEY THE REPAIR WOULD FIX IT WITH RESIN. THE NEXT DAY A CRACK AROUND 18 INCHES FORMED ALONG THE WINDSHIELD. . AFTER THE CRACK WAS FORMED THEY STATED THEY WEREN'T RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WINDSHIELD AFTER THE REPAIR. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE QUALITY OF THE WINDSHIELD MAZDA WON'T HOLD THEMSELVES RESPONSIBLE FOR. THIS NEW WINDSHIELD HAS BEEN QUOTED FOR $500 TO REPLACE. *TR

I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE HYDRAULIC BELT TENSIONER WAS LEAKING. THEY QUOTED ME $400 FOR REPAIR AND STATED THIS IS A WEAR ITEM YET THE MANUAL AND USER GUIDE PROVIDED BY MAZDA DO NOT STATE THAT THIS IS REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED ONLY INSPECTED. MY CAR HAS LESS THEN 46,000 MILES AND THIS PART WAS NEARLY AT THE POINT OF FAILURE. IF THIS PART FAILS AND THE BELT GETS TOO LOOSE OR SNAPS, YOUR CAR WILL SHUT DOWN. ESSENTIALLY, IF THAT BELT BREAKS, YOUR ALTERNATOR WILL STOP CHARGING THE BATTERY, THE DASH WILL LIGHT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE, AND THE CAR WILL SPUTTER TO A COMPLETE STOP. NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT THE BELT ALSO TURNS THE WATER PUMP. SO WHILE THE CAR COULD SHUT DOWN IN ORDER TO AVOID OVERHEATING. MAZDA HAS STATED THEY WILL NOT COVER THIS AS IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY FOR A WHAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A DEFECTIVE PART. IF YOU HEAR KNOCKING SOUNDS FROM YOUR ENGINE GET YOUR VEHICLE INSPECTED ASAP!

THE DRIVER'S HEADLIGHT HALO FOR THE DAYLIGHT RUNNING LIGHTS WAS HAVING ISSUES AT 30,939. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AND IT WOULD HAVE COST $1,000. NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE IS HAVING ISSUES AT 33,183 MILES AND NOW THAT IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY THE CURRENT QUOTE IS $1,200. A THREE YEAR OLD CAR UNDER 36,000 MILES SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE ISSUES, NOR SHOULD THEY BE ALMOST $2,500 IN REPAIRS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. CALLED MAZDA USA, AND THEY SAID WELL IT MUST BE DIAGNOSED BY ONE OF THERE DEALERSHIP AND EVEN THEN WOULD NOT PROBABLY CONSIDER COVERING ANY PART OF THE BILL WHICH CAN RUN UP TO $1000.00 FOR THE EPB MODULE. THIS CAR HAS BEEN 100% CARED FOR ALL RECORDS BARELY 21.000 MILES, THIS IS THE 3RD FAULTY ISSUE OF SOMETHING BREAKING ON THIS CAR-1ST- ONE OF THOSE EXPENSIVE LED LIGHTS BURNED OUT, 2ND ELECTRIC SEAT MOTOR BURN OUT,AND NOW THIS MODULE AND THE CUSTOMER REP STATES THEY ARE NOT AT LIBERTY TO DISCUSS IF THIS WAS IN FACT A PROBLEM AND SAFETY ISSUE .PLEASE BE SAFE AND CAREFUL WHEN YOU PURCHASING YOUR MAZDA CX-5

ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE (EPB) CONTROL MODULE FAILURE: ON JUNE 19 AND 20 OF 2019 MY 2016 CX-5 WITH ONLY 18,000 MILES EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE FUNCTION. WHEN I WOULD LIFT THE EPB SWITCH TO SET THE PARKING BRAKE THE INDICATOR LIGHT WOULD START FLASHING AND A WARNING SIGN ((P!)) WOULD SHOW UP ON THE DASH DISPLAY. THE MAZDA DEALER DID A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK AND DETERMINED THE EPB CONTROL MODULE NEEDED REPLACING. $765 LATER I WAS BACK ON THE ROAD. *AS THIS APPEARS TO BE AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH 2016 CX-5S WITH VINS BELOW 781350 (SEE TSB 04-005/16 OF 08/05/2016 ATTACHED.) MY VIN IS 654830. ALSO, HTTPS://WWW.CARCOMPLAINTS.COM/MAZDA/CX-5/2016/BRAKES/SERVICE_BRAKES.SHTML SHOWS A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS STARTING IN 2016 ABOUT THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I ALSO SAW SOME COMMENTS THAT A FAULTY EPB COULD CAUSE THE BRAKES TO LOCK UP UNEXPECTEDLY. THIS WOULD BE A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF THAT WERE TO HAPPEN IN TRAFFIC.
