I TOOK IT BACK TO THE APPROVED AUTONATION DEALER (POWER FORD) AS THEY WERE THE ONES THAT CLEANED THE CABLES ALONG WITH MY 40,000 MI SERVICE. AN OLDER MECHANIC SAID THERE IS A SENSOR THAT HAS TO 'RESET' ITSELF AFTER BEING DISCONNECTED. HE TOOK THE CAR OUT AND DROVE IT TO PUT THE MILES ON IT, FOR IT TO STOP. I HAVE ASKED OTHER PEOPLE ABOUT THAT THEORY AND NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW ABOUT IT. IT IS SO DANGEROUS I CANNOT BELIEVE IT WOULD CONTINUE FOR THAT MANY MILES. I BELIEVE SOMETHING IS DEFECTIVE. THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND ONCE AGAIN IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE TRANSMISSION, EVEN THOUGH THE DEALER CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME. ON JUNE 2, 2005 THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN SLIPPING IN AND OUT OF GEAR AGAIN AND THE CONSUMER NOTICED WHITE SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE TAIL PIPE, MOMENTS LATER THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DETERMINED THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK FROM A LINE WHICH LED FROM THE TRANSMISSION TO THE LOWER PART OF THE RADIATOR AND WAS USED AS A COOLER LINE. *JB

A NEW CRANKSHAFT WAS INSTALLED AND THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE, WHERE IT BEGAN TO STALL AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND THEY DISCOVERED ISSUES WITH THE WIRING HEADING TO THE CRANKSHAFT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 00V299001 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:ENGINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,666.
