JUST AFTER 100K MILES THE CAR STARTED TO JERK FROM R TO D AND SLOWLY PROGRESSED INTO FULL BLOWN SLIPPING, RPMS SHOOT THROUGH THE ROOF WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE CAR TO SLIP AND SLAM INTO GEAR AT WHATEVER SPEED I'M GOING WHICH SOMETIMES CAUSE THE CAR TO BE UNCONTROLLABLE. I'VE SEEN 1,000S OF FORUMS WITH PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND CLAIMING NISSAN KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Summary of Complaint

BRAKE ABS SYSTEM FAILURE. SUBFRAME RUST BREAKS THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) AND RENDERS THE ABS BRAKE, TRACTION CONTROL, AND VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS INOPERABLE. THE SLIP, BRAKE, VDC OFF (TCS OFF) LIGHTS ALL ILLUMINATE ON THE VEHICLE DASHBOARD, NOTIFYING THE DRIVER OF THIS PROBLEM. FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO THE PROBLEM DEMONSTRATES THAT THE ABS SENSORS AND/OR ABS ACTUATOR FAIL ON THE VEHICLE DUE TO A DESIGN DEFECT THAT PROMOTES EXCESSIVE RUST ACCUMULATION ON ABS COMPONENTS. THE ABS SENSOR FAILURES DISABLE ALL ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS. DRIVER AND OCCUPANT SAFETY IS SEVERELY COMPROMISED DUE TO THE VEHICLE'S SIGNIFICANTLY DIMINISHED STEERING AND ACCIDENT AVOIDANCE CAPABILITY DURING EMERGENCY BRAKING AND CRASH AVOIDANCE SITUATIONS (ESPECIALLY SKID SITUATIONS) DUE TO THE NON-FUNCTIONING ABS, TRACTION CONTROL, AND VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE ABS BRAKE, TRACTION CONTROL, AND VEHICLE DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEM FAILURES AND THE CAUSE, BUT REQUESTS TO NISSAN TO FIX THE SYSTEMS ARE DENIED. NISSAN HAS DOCUMENTED THE PROBLEM IN TSB NTB07-016(B) WHICH SHOWS NISSAN HAS BEEN AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM SINCE AT LEAST MARCH 16, 2007. NISSAN'S TSB DOCUMENTATION SHOWS HOW TO CORRECT THE DESIGN DEFECT ON THE VEHICLE BY GRINDING THE SUBFRAME AND REPLACING DEFECTIVE PARTS WITH NISSAN REDESIGNED PARTS.

I PURCHASED A USED/NEW VALVE BODY FROM A TRANSMISSION SHOP, IT LASTED A FEW MONTHS WENT BAD AS IN JUMPING OUT OF GEAR, STAYING STUCK IN 5TH OR 3RD, PUTTING IT IN PARK AND TRYING TO SHIFT TO DRIVE AND IT NOT GOING INTO GEAR. I RETURNED THE PART GOT ANOTHER USED VALVE BODY AND IT ONLY LASTED A FEW WEEKS. NOW I AM HAVING TO PURCHASE A NEW VALVE BODY FROM NISSAN HOPING THIS WILL FIX IT. ALSO EVERY TRANSMISSION SHOP IN MY TOWN THAT I CONTACTED KNEW EXACTLY THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY HAD SEEN IT SO MANY TIMES AND HAD A FLEET OF THEM ALREADY AT THEIR SHOP TO REPAIR. THEN WAS TOLD BY NISSAN CORPORATE THAT IT WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, SO NO RECALL. SO THIS HAS COST SO MANY PEOPLE THEIR TIME AND MONEY ONLY TO GENERATE MORE PROFIT FOR NISSAN. THESE BAD VALVE BODIES THAT THEY KNOWINGLY PUT IN THESE MODELS WHICH ARE EXPENSIVE AND DANGEROUS HAD TO BE PURCHASED FROM NISSAN!!! THIS IS SO WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT ALMOST EVERY 2004-2006 NISSAN MAXIMA OWNER HAS, BUT NISSAN REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM AND ISSUE A RECALL. A QUICK GOOGLE SEARCH WILL YIELD THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE, AND NISSAN REFUSING TO HELP. THIS IS WHY IN 2007 NISSAN WENT TO A CVT TRANSMISSION AND WARRANTIED IT UP TO 10YEARS/120K MILES (BECAUSE THEY KNEW OF THE 04-06 FAILURES EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE NOT HELPING THOSE PEOPLE OUT). I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE IN HELPING ME FIX THE PROBLEM. I NOW HAVE TO PAY $3,450 FOR A REPAIR DUE TO AN ISSUE WITH NISSANS WORKSMANSHIP. *TR
