Summary of Complaint

SAFETY-DEFECT. THERE IS A MAJOR NATIONWIDE PROBLEM WITH MANY DIFFERENT NISSAN MODEL VEHICLES FROM 2002-2006: THE CHASSIS UNDER THE FLOORBOARDS ARE RUSTING OUT AND PEOPLE'S FEET ARE PUSHING THROUGH TO THE PAVEMENT. MANY NISSAN OWNERS HAVE ALREADY FILED COMPLAINTS WITH NHTSA. SEE THE VIDEO REPORT DETAILING THE PROBLEM BY KSHB-TV IN KANSAS CITY: HTTP://WWW.KSHB.COM/NEWS/LOCAL-NEWS/INVESTIGATIONS/NISSAN-OWNERS-FEEL-ROAD-RAGE-EXPRESS-SAFETY-CONCERNS-OVER-RUST-PROBLEM-HIDING-BENEATH-THEIR-FEET I HAVE A 2005 GARAGE-KEPT NISSAN MAXIMA WITH 58,000 MILES THAT I BOUGHT NEW, AND APPLIED UNDERCARRIAGE RUSTPROOFING TREATMENT WITHIN DAYS OF BUYING THE VEHICLE. I RECENTLY NOTICED THAT THE CHASSIS UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT IS RUSTING OUT AND THERE ARE HOLES IN THE VEHICLE. IF NISSAN OWNERS DON'T LOOK UNDER THEIR CAR AT THE CHASSIS, THEY MAY BE TOTALLY UNAWARE OF THE DEFECT UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE. SO FAR, NISSAN HAS NOT TAKEN ANY ACTION TO WARN THE PUBLIC OR RECALL THE VEHICLES. I HAVE BEEN A MEMBER OF CONSUMERS UNION (CU), PUBLISHER OF "CONSUMERS REPORT", FOR DECADES, AND THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST WIDESPREAD VEHICLE DEFECTS I HAVE SEEN. I HAVE ALSO FILED A LENGTHY COMPLAINT WITH CU ABOUT THE DANGER. PLEASE NOTIFY THE PUBLIC OF THESE DEFECTS. *TR

Summary of Complaint

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HARD SHIFT BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND. DELAYED ENGAGEMENT FROM 2ND TO 3RD THE WILL DROP A GEAR ALMOST COME TO A STOP WITH HIGH RPM. HARD SHIFTS ARE VIOLENT AND START AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING. HAVE BEEN MAKING DUE WITH MANUAL SHIFT BUT NOW IS NOT ENGAGING IN OVERDRIVE. CAR WILL DROP OUT OF OVERDRIVE NOT ALLOWING HIGHWAY SPEED. VEHICLE WILL STAY IN 5TH GEAR EVEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THEN MOVING AGAIN. WILL NOT DROP DOWN A GEAR. HAVE TO PULL OVER TO SET THE CAR IN PARK AND RESTART THE CAR TO GET IT OUT OF 5TH GEAR. CAR HAS ACTUALLY STALLED SLOWING TO A STOP LIGHT OR TRAFFIC. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON AND WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION IN TEXAS BECAUSE CODE SAYS TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND TO PASS I MUST NOW SPEND $2500 FOR REBUILT OR $4500+ FOR NEW. THIS IS A TOTAL MECHANICAL ERROR WHICH NISSAN IS NOT ACCEPTING RESPONSIBILITY AND IS AN ACTUAL SAFETY HAZARD WHEN THE CAR DIES AT SPEED AND DOWNSHIFT CAN BE SO VIOLENT THAT YOU DROP 10 MPH IMMEDIATELY AND CAUSES STEERING ISSUES TO CONTROL THE JOLT. *TR

Summary of Complaint

I BOUGHT MY NISSAN MAXIMA ABOUT 2YEARS AGO. MY DAD HAD BOUGHT ME A 1999 MAXIMA DURING MY HIGH SCHOOL YEARS AND IT NEVER GAVE ME PROBLEMS. IT RAN AWESOME SO THAT'S WHY I ENDED UP BUYING MY 1ST MAXIMA AND VERY DISAPPOINTED. I TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST BECAUSE AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WOULD BE HOT I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS. IT SEEMED AFTER COMING DOWN SPEED IT WOULD SLIP AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE AFTER BREAKING FOR EXAMPLE: IF A CAR INFRONT OF ME WOULD BRAKE TO TURN AND I WOULD BRAKE AND THEN ACCELERATE THE CAR SEEMS TO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO AND IT GETS STUCK AND DOESN'T WANT TO ACCELERATE FOLLOWED BY A HARD JERK THAT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE JUST HIT MY BACK BUMPER. IT'S SO UNSAFE DRIVING I'VE HAD ALMOST BEEN IN CAR ACCIDENTS BECAUSE IT WON'T ACCELERATE AND ALMOST GOT HIT. IT'S SO FRUSTRATING DEALING WITH THIS CAR ISSUE ESPECIALLY AFTER JUST BUYING IT AND STILL MAKING CAR PAYMENTS AND NOT BEING ABLE TO DRIVE IT. I WILL NEVER BUY NISSAN AGAIN!! MY MOM BOUGHT A 2011 NISSAN VERSA AND ARE LOOKING INTO TRADING IT IN FOR ANOTHER MAKE FOR THE FEAR THAT IT WILL HAVE ISSUES TOO!! THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY $3000-4000 ON A REBUILD TRANSMISSION!!!!! *TR

Summary of Complaint

VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT INTO DRIVE UNLESS THE TRANSMISSION LOCK IS ENGAGED (STARTED @ 50K MILES). ABRUPT DOWNSHIFTS AT ABOUT 20 MPH (STARTED @ 70K MILES). NOW THE TRANSMISSION IS STUCK IN 5TH AND WILL NOT DOWNSHIFT (STARTED AT 75K MILES). VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND I'M TOLD IT WILL COST AT LEAST $3000 TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE FOR A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 75K MILES. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NISSAN PRODUCT AGAIN. *TR
