ON 6/15/15, WHILE ON HIGHWAY MY CAR STALLED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. STARTED UP AFTER FEW ATTEMPTS. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND REMAINED ON. I SCANNED FOR ERROR CODE AND I'VE GOT P0340 (CRANK POSITION AND/OR CAMSHAFT SENSOR(S)). ON 6/26/15 I TOOK THE CAR TO HILTON HEAD NISSAN DEALER IN HARDEEVILLE, SC - THEY SCANNED IT POSITIVE FOR CODE P0340(CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT FAILURE) AND THEY REPLACED THE TWO SENSORS. THEY NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT NISSAN RECALL FOR SENSORS (NHTSA #03V4550000). I FOUND TODAY ABOUT THIS RECALL AND CALLED NISSAN DEALER ON 6/27/16 - THEY TOLD ME THE CAR IS TO OLD TO APPLY THE RECALL, DESPITE THE FACT THAT NISSAN MURANO 2003 IS SPECIFIED ON THE RECALL AND DESPITE HAVING THE SAME COMPLICATION IDENTIFIED BY NISSAN AND NHTSA WHICH NECESSITATED THE RECALL. IN ADDITION, LETTER WRITTEN BY THE TECHNICAL COMPLIANCE DEPARTMENT OF NISSAN TO THE NHTSA, DATED 12/4/03, CLEARLY STATES THAT MY CAR IS INCLUDED IN THE LIST OF RECALLED VEHICLES. NO UPDATED LETTER OR OTHER PUBLIC INFORMATION FOUND STATING THAT CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS ARE REQUIRED TO HAVE CAR REPAIRED. LEAKING TRANSMISSION TRANSFER CASE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS THE TC CAN FAIL AT ANY TIME. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. NISSAN NA HAS GIVEN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON CVT TRANSMISSION, BUT THE TC IS MOST LIKELY TO FAIL DUE TO LEAKS AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED CVT WARRANTY NISSAN JUST CAME OUT WITH. MANY MANY POSTS ON INTERNET BASED ON THIS ISSUE. NNA WILL NOT CORRECT THIS DESIGN DEFECT, EVEN THOUGH IT IS PART OF THE TRANSMISSION. NNA WILL NOT HONOR THE TRANSMISSION EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE CVT TRANSMISSION, AS THEY SAY THE TC IS NOT PART OF THE TRANSMISSION. REPLACEMENT COST FOR TC IS $3500-$4000 AND IF IT'S LEAKING IT WILL FAIL. SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE IF VEHICLE IS MOVING, CAUSING POTENTIALLY BODILY INJURY IN A CRASH, OR BODILY INJURY WHILE ON SIDE OF HIGHWAY. I CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND THEY WOULD NOT ADDRESS THIS OBVIOUS ENGINEERING DEFECT. NISSAN SHOULD BE MADE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS DEFECT. THE TC PART IS NOT DESIGNED TO SURVIVE THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PART FAIL. PLEASE HELP. *TR

I HAVE A RECURRING PROBLEM THAT WHEN I AM IN TRAFFIC AND I PUT MY FOOT ON THE GAS PEDAL, THERE IS NO RESPONSE AND THEN THE CAR SURGES FORWARD. I WAS CHANGING LANES AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE NEXT DAY I BROUGHT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE VALVE BODY AND GASKET. THEY SAID THE EXTENDED 120,000 WARRANTY ON THE CVT TRANSMISSON WOULD NOT COVER THE REPAIR. I CALLED NISSAN CUSTOMER SUPPORT, AND AFTER INVESTIGATING THEY AGREED THE REPAIR WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. I HAVE HEARD SO MANY COMPLAINTS THAT THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM THAT I JUST HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. I WAS TOO WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY HAZARD. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM , THAT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN AT THIS MILEAGE. I ALSO HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED AND ALSO THE FUEL PUMP, JUST AFTER IT TURNED 100,000.

I HAVE A 2003 NISSAN MURANO W/ 88K MILES. WHEN DRIVING MY NISSAN MURANO, THERE SEEMS TO BE QUITE AN ISSUE WITH THE ACCELERATION AND THAT IT HESITATES WHEN I I STEP ON THE ACCELERATION. THE MURANO DOES NOT MOVE FORWARD FOR A FEW SECONDS, AFTER STEPPING ALMOST FULLY ON THE GAS PEDAL. THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR CATCHES BACK ON AND THEN THE CAR JOLTS FORWARD, LETTING THE CAR FINALLY MOVE. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS SPORADICLY AND ACTUALLY ON A LEFT TURN JUST YESTERDAY, (7-10-11), THE CAR JUST COMPLETELY LOST IT'S POWER. I AM GLAD NO ACCIDENT OCCURED, I WAS VERY LUCKY. I WAS ABLE TO TURN TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON. AFTER I DID THAT I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR INTO A PARKING LOT SO I COULD HAVE MY FATHER PICK ME UP. AFTER DOING SOME IN-DEPTH RESEARCH ON THE WEB FOR THE 2003 NISSAN MURANOS, IT SHOWS THAT THERE ARE TONS OF THOUSANDS OF OTHER 2003 NISSAN MURANO OWNERS HAVING THE COMPLETELY SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2003 NISSAN MURANO. AT APPROXIMATELY 81,000 MILES I NOTICED A BURNING OIL SMELL AFTER DRIVING. I HAD THE CAR CHECKED AND THE TRANSFER CASE WAS OUT OF OIL. THE SERVICE DEPT. RESEALED THE TRANSFER CASE UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. AT ABOUT 96,000 MILES I HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT BEFORE END OF WARRANTY AND AGAIN THE TRANSFER CASE LEAKED OUT THE OIL AND I HAD SERVICE ON TRANSFER CASE. THE SEALS HAD TO BE REDONE, ALSO UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. I HAVE THE CAR IN NOW FOR ROUTINE SERVICE WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSH AND FILL AND BECAUSE I AM GETTING A STRANGE TICKING NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING. NOTIFIED THAT CVT FLUID LEAKING ONTO OUTSIDE OF TRANSFER CASE. NEEDS TRANSMISSION SEAL REDONE. OVER $2000. I AM GETTING THE SEAL REDONE UNDER TRANSMISSION 120,000 WARRANTY FROM NISSAN. DEALERSHIP SAYS I SHOULD GET THE TRANSFER CASE SEALS REDONE BUT THEY ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE TRANSMISSION WARRANTY AND I CANNOT AFFORD THE CLOSE TO $2000 EXTRA THIS WOULD COST. SEEMS THAT THE SEALS SHOULD LAST MORE THAN 8,000 MILES AS THEY SEEMED TOO AFTER BUYING THE VEHICLE NEW AND NOT REPLACING THEM UNTIL AFTER 50,000 MILES. AFTER READING MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT A PRESSURE VALVE AND OTHER TRANSMISSION ISSUES I BELIEVE THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE REPLACED AS I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT JUST REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION FORWARD SEAL(?) WILL NOT CORRECT THE LEAKING PROBLEMS WITH THE TRANSMISSION TRANSFER CASE AND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WILL "GO OUT" AFTER THE FACTORY WARRANTY.
