Summary of Complaint

AFTER DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC OR AFTER DRIVING LONG ENOUGH FOR THE TRANSMISSION TO GET WARMED UP, WHEN ACCELLERATOR IS PUSHED THE CAR IS UNRESPONSIVE FOR 5 TO 10 SECONDS THEN SUDDENLY LUNGES FORWARD INTO TRAFFIC! THIS HAPPENS IN ALL DRIVING SITUATIONS. THE ONLY REQUIREMENT IS THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE DRIVEN ENOUGH TO BE WARMED UP. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE'S CVT TRANSMISSION FAILING! THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND ALL AFFECTED CVT'S SHOULD BE REPLACED OR REPAIRED! NISSAN HAS RECALLED OTHER VEHICLES THAT HAVE THE EXACT SAME TRANSMISSION AND EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME ISSUES BUT THEY HAVE IGNORED TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE 2003 MURANO'S TRANSMISSION! LOOK HERE AT YOUR COMPLAINTS AND YOU WILL FIND HUNDEREDS OF PEOPLE CLAIMING THE SAME THING. SOME ARE EXPLAINING THE ISSUE WITH KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT THE ISSUE IS AND MANY OTHERS ARE REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE JUST WITHOUT PROPER CAR KNOWLEDGE SO IT MAY NOT BE REPORTED AS THE SAME ISSUE. IF YOU LOOK INTO THESE COMPLAINTS YOU CAN SEE THE CVT TRANSMISSION IS A SAFETY HAZZARD AND SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR LIFE OF THE VEHICLE!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE BATTERY AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION. THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE IN A LOT. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO TISCHER NISSAN IN FORT MEADE. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 172,000.

Summary of Complaint

A WIRE BROKE INSIDE THE ALTERNATOR CAUSING THE BATTERY TO STOP FROM CHARGING. MY FAMILY WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60MPH ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE CHARGER WARNING AND BRAKE WARNING LAMPS CAME ON. THE BATTERY BEGAN TO DISCHARGE AND THE CAR LOST POWER. WE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE ENGINE WENT INTO A "FALL SAFE" MODE (ALL DASH INDICATORS AND RADIO DISPLAY FLASHED RAPIDLY) AND THEN THE ENGINE STOPPED RUNNING. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT RESTART AND THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED.

Summary of Complaint

THE PROBLEM WITH MY NISSAN MURANO LIKE SO MANY OTHERS IS THE TRANSMISSION. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND I WASTED $125 DOLLARS. I ALSO CONTACTED NISSAN COOPERATE AND THEY HAVE NOT DID ANYTHING. NISSAN KNOWS THIS IS A MANUFACTORY PROBLEM AND THEY WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM. I AM SO FRUSTRATED WITH THIS PROBLEM I SEEN THAT THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY BUT I AM 20,000 MILES OVER IT I NEED HELP

Summary of Complaint

PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2012, USED- BAG AN HAVING ISSUES IMMEDIATELY, INCLUDING , NO HEAT, STALLING, WINDOWS ROLLING DOWN ON THEIR OWN IN WINTER- RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY KEPT FOR 1 WEEK, SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG EXCEPT THE FUEL PUMP. WE REPLACED IT AND TROUBLE CONTINUED. CONTACTED NISSAN AND THEY SAID TO TAKE TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC, A CERTIFIED NISSAN MECHANIC NOW LOOKING IT OVER AND CLAIMS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG, WE HAVE THROWN SO MUCH MONEY INTO TRYING TO GET IT TO WORK. OVERHEATS AND CAN NOT CLIMB EVEN THE SMALLEST OF INCLINE WITHOUT OVERHEATING, THE NISSAN COMPANY WANTS US YO PAY FOR ALL THE TESTING THEY REQUIRE, WE HAVE BEEN PAYING FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS NOT DRIVABLE OR RELIABLE IN ANY WAY- AFTER 4 YEARS THERE IS STILL NO ANSWERS AS TO WHY IT WILL NOT RUN PROPERLY, SO DISAPPOINTING YO PURCHASE A VEHICLE THAT LOOKS GOOD AND IS COMFORTABLE, AND HAS BECOME A LAWN ORNAMENT THAT STILL HAS A LARGE BALANCE TO PAY- DOES NISSAN PRODUCE THINGS THEY WALK AWAY FROM LAUGHING AT THE CONSUMERS FOR PURCHASING A NON REPUTABLE VEHICLE. SO AGGRAVATING TO BE TOLD IT IS OUR PROBLEM, FEEL AS THOUGH I COULD HAVE GONE TO THE JUNKYARD AND PURCHASED A WRECKED VEHICLE AND HAD BETTER RESULTS, WE JUST WANT TO BE ABLE TO DEPEND ON A VEHICLE WE PURCHASED WITHOUT THE RUN AROUND. SOUNDS LIKE THEY MADE A PROBLEM CAR FROM THE OTHER COMMENTS ON HOW OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES, WITHOUT ANY ANSWERS. THE UNEXPECTED STALLING AND OVERHEATING AND NO PRODUCTION OF HEAT IN THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN ISSUE SINCE PURCHASING IN 2012 TO NOW 2016, JUST WOULD LIKE SOME SORT OF ANSWERS.

Summary of Complaint

2003 NISSAN MURANO STARTED AT 98,000 MILES. LIKE MANY, MANY THOUSANDS OF OTHERS THE CVT TRANSMISSION HAS FAILED AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! WHEN DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME , WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS THEN SUDDENLY LAUNCHES FORWARD UNEXPECTANTLY! NISSAN TRIED TO LOOK AS IF THEY ARE TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE SAFTEY FLAW BY EXTENDING THE WARRANTY PERIOD FROM 5 YR OR 60,000 MILES TO 10 YR OR 100,000 MILES. PROBLEM IS THE ISSUE A LOT OF THE TIMES STARTS OUTSIDE THOSE PERIMETERS SUCH AS MINE! EVEN MORE, IF THE VEHICLE DOES FALL IN THE WARRANTY PERIOD THEY REPLACED THE FAULTY TRANSMISSION WITH THE EXACT SAME TRANSMISSION WHICH ALSO FAILS AS THEY ARE IDENTICLE! IN MY CASE THE VEHICLE WAS ALREADY OUTSIDE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PERIOD WHEN I STARTED EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE THEREFORE NISSAN SAYS IT WILL NOT BE COVERED. HOW CAN A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW THAT IS A SERIOUS SAFTEY ISSUE BE COVERED UNDER A TIME LIMIT? THE DESIGN FLAW IS FOREVER THERFORE THE SAFETY ISSUE IS FOREVER! SO MY LIFE IS DEPENDING ON YOUR HELP TO GET THIS RESOLVED. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE AND I FEEL THAT NISSAN SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR CORRECTING THIS PROBLEM ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THE PURCHASE OF NISSAN PRODUCTS UNTIL THEY LIVE UP TO THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. IF THE GOVERNMENT CAN MAKE GM, CHRYSLER AND FORD RECALL THAT ARE OVER TEN-YEARS OLD ; WHY CAN'T THEY REQUIRE NISSAN TO DO THE SAME THING? THIS SHOULD BE 100% LIFETIME COVERED!!!

Summary of Complaint

MY DRIVERS SEAT FRAME BROKE LOOSE AND IS LIKE RIDING IN A ROCKING CHAIR. THE DEALER STATES THE REPAIR IS APPROXIMATELY $1,000. I STARTED SEARCHING ON LINE AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF NISSAN MURANOS (MOST APPEAR TO BE 2003 TO 2005) WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. CLEARLY THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT THAT COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY UP TO AND INCLUDING DEATH IF THIS SEAT FRAME BROKE DURING AN ACCIDENT. NISSAN HAS REDESIGNED THE PART TO BE MORE ROBUST FOR MODELS AFTER 2005, SO THEY APPARENTLY KNOW THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE A NATIONWIDE MANDATED RECALL AT NISSAN'S EXPENSE, FORCED BY THE NHTSA BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR

Summary of Complaint

THE NISSAN DEALER TOLD US IN JANUARY THAT THERE WAS A FLUID PRESSURE DROP AND WANTED TO REPLACE SEALS FOR AROUND $1,700. IN FEBRUARY THE DEALER TOLD US THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR $1,700 PLUS RESETTING THE TCM FOR ANOTHER $300. I BELIEVE NISSAN KNOWS FULL WELL THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS DESIGN AND THEY NEED TO ISSUE A RECALL TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS. *TR

Summary of Complaint

THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK IS NOT LOCKING OR UNLOCKING COMPLETELY WHEN USING THE REMOTE OR KEY. IT APPEARS TO BE LOCKED, BUT THE DOOR CAN BE OPENED FROM OUTSIDE THE CAR AND VISA VERSA. STARTING IN MAY 2011, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCK IS DOING THE SAME THING. I'M ALSO UNABLE TO ENTER THE VEHICLE THROUGH NEITHER OF THE FRONT DOORS AND HAVE TO ENTER THROUGH THE BACK DOORS TO UNLOCK THE FRONT DOORS MANUALLY FROM THE INSIDE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I OR A PASSENGER CAN GET LOCKED OUT OF THE CAR OR THINK THE DOOR IS LOCKED WHILE IN THE CAR AND SOMEONE FROM THE OUTSIDE COULD GAIN ACCESS. IN CASE OF EMERGENCY, I MAY OR MAY NOT BE ABLE TO GET INTO OR OUT OF THE CAR. STARTING IN NOVEMBER 2010 WHILE RAISING THE WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WITH THE POWER WINDOW BUTTON, IT AUTOMATICALLY LOWERS ON IT'S OWN ON OCCASION. IT STOPS WHEN HALF OPEN. TO KEEP IT CLOSED, I HAVE TO INCH IT UP SLOWLY. AGAIN THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE LOCK TO THE GAS CAP FAILED TO OPEN AROUND 40,000 MILES.

Summary of Complaint

1.) MY DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS ARE NOT WORKING AS OF YESTERDAY 4/13/11. I HAVE TO USE MY KEY TO UNLOCK MY DOOR- THE FAB WILL NOT WORK. FROM THE OUTSIDE AND MY UNLOCK/LOCK BUTTON DOES NOT WORK ON THE INSIDE EITHER. THE FAB DOES UNLOCK THE REARS DOORS ONLY. 2.) FAILURE OCCURS EVERY TIME 3.) HAVE NOT FIXED IT YET BECAUSE BASED ON RESEARCH, THIS IS A NISSAN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I SIGNED A RECENT PETITION WITH OVER 624 OTHER SIGNATURES OF PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS. NISSAN NEEDS TO FIX THIS NOW AS IT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND COULD RESULT IN HARM TO VEHICLE OWNERS IF THEY CANNOT LOCK THEIR DOORS INSTANTLY. *TR
