Summary of Complaint

HELLO, I AM WRITING THIS BECAUSE MY 2006 NISSAN MURANO SL AWD HAS SIGNIFICANT RUST DAMAGE BEING ONLY 12 (ALMOST 13) YEARS OLD. I PUT HOURS OF RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND MY VEHICLE IS NOT ALONE IN THIS. [HTTP://WWW.CARPROBLEMZOO.COM/NISSAN/MURANO/FRAME-RUST-PROBLEMS.PHP] THIS LINK SHOWS JUST A FEW OF THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE COMPLAINED OF A SIMILAR ISSUE. MY ARGUMENT IS THAT NISSAN SHOULD HAVE STRENGTHENED THESE SUBFRAMES BECAUSE A 12-13 YEAR OLD CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE A BACK END DROP OUT OF IT BECAUSE OF SALT. I LIVE IN OHIO AND WE GET ABOUT 1-3 MONTHS OF SNOW AND OUR CITIES SALT A MODERATE AMOUNT. OTHER VEHICLE WE OWN/HAD (2001 FORD, 2002 FORD, 2005 FORD) HAVE RUST FROM THE SNOW BUT THE STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLES ARE INTACT AND SAFE TO DRIVE. HOWEVER, THE NISSAN SUBFRAMES IN THESE MURANO'S ARE FAILING AND ENDANGER DRIVERS AROUND THE VICTIM'S CAR. PERSONALLY, I CAN HANDLE A CAR THAT LOSES CONTROL EVEN WHEN CARS ARE NEXT TO ME, BUT THIS STILL PUTS MYSELF AND VEHICLES AROUND ME IN DANGER. JUST RECENTLY MY CAR WAS DRIVING FINE AND WITH NO ICE ON THE ROAD (9:00PM ON A 47 DEGREE RAINY DAY) MY VEHICLE WOBBLES FROM THE BACK END AND VEERS RIGHT WHILE I AM ON HE HIGHWAY. I ADVISE THAT NISSAN TAKE ACTION AND RECALL THE 2006 NISSAN MURANO BECAUSE THEIR SUBFRAMES ARE NOT BUILT TO LAST NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OF SNOW AND SALT THAT PEOPLE IN THE NORTH ARE SUBJECTED TO. I UNDERSTAND SALT IS CORROSIVE AND DETERIORATE THE CARS FASTER BUT THIS CAR IS A LUXURY CAR AND SHOULD BE BUILT TO LAST LONGER THAN MY 2002 FORD FOCUS HAS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. ALSO MAY I ADD THAT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THIS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ALIGN THE CAR AND STATED THAT THE 'RUSTED OUT' SUBFRAME WILL BREAK IF HE ATTEMPTS TO FREE THE PARTS NEEDED TO ALIGN THE REAR OF THE CAR. AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

Summary of Complaint

WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS ON A LIFT TO CHECK THE ALIGNMENT, THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE ENTIRE BACK SUSPENSION FRAME WAS COMPLETLY RUSTED OUT. IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING AND HIT A BUMP THE WRONG WAY, I WOULD HAVE LOST THE BACK END SUSPENSION AND LOST CONTROL OF MY CAR. AFTER LOOKING ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, THERE WERE NUMEROUS AND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ON THIS DANGEROUS, FAULTY FRAME.

Summary of Complaint

STARTED THE ENGINE ABOUT 1 MONTH AGO BEFORE PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED BLINKING AND REMAINED ON EVER SINCE. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A NISSAN DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED. INITIALLY THEY TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE AIRBAG SO THEY RESET THE LIGHT AND CHARGED A $75.00 DIAGNOSTIC FEE. BUT AS SOON AS THE TECHNICIAN RETURNED WITH THE VEHICLE THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN. HE TOOK IT BACK TO THE REPAIR AREA AND AFTER 2 HOURS HE CAME BACK AND SAID THE AIRBAG COMPUTER IS MALFUNCTIONING AND IS NOT ABLE TO RECOGNIZE THE VEHICLE. HE STATED THAT IT WOULD COST $1500.00 TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG COMPUTER WHICH MY WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER AND I DON'T BELIEVE THAT THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE A CUSTOMERS RESPONSIBILITY AS AIR BAGS ARE IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURES WHICH SHOULD NOT JUST RANDOMLY MALFUNCTION ESPECIALLY SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENTS WHATSOEVER. I ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE AIRBAG AND HE SAID NO, I ALSO ASKED IF THIS IS RECURRENT PROBLEM FOR OTHER CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE AND HE RESPONDED THAT HE DOES SEE THIS PROBLEM QUITE OFTEN WITH THE SAME VEHICLE.

Summary of Complaint

WILE DRIVING CASUALLY, THE SEAT FELT LIKE DISLOCATING OFF IT'S TRACK AND LEANED FORWARD AND TO THE RIGHT. I PULLED OVER WHEN POSSIBLE AND OBSERVED THAT THE SEAT IS LOOSE ON ITS REAR LEFT SIDE AND ROCKS FREELY TOWARDS THE FRONT. ELECTRICALLY IT FUNCTIONED AS USUAL. MY GARAGE MECHANIC (NOT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP!) CHECKED IT AND FOUND OUT THE METAL FRAME OF THE SEAT IS BROKEN. HE WARNED ME OF KEEPING DRIVING IT AND SAID HE COULD NOT FIX IT BUT WILL LOOK FOR A BODY SHOP OR SOME ONE WHO WILL. I WENT ONLINE TO RESEARCH IT AND LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON WELL-KNOWN SAFETY VIOLATION BY THE MANUFACTURE, WHICH UNFORTUNATELY, OR IN A UNEXPLAINED OTHER REASON, WAS NEVER RECOGNIZED AS AN OFFICIAL SAFETY RECALL. I WANT TO ADD MY VOICE SO IT WILL BE TAKEN CARE OFF. BEFORE MORE PEOPLE WILL BE HURT. *TR

Summary of Complaint

STARTED NOTICING THAT THE DRIVER SIDE VISOR WOULD DROP DOWN FOR NO REASON. I NOW HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WITH NEAR MISSES WITH OTHER VEHICLES BECAUSE OF THIS THING FALLING DOWN. THEY HAVE BIG ADDS ABOUT TEXTING WHILE DRIVING AND ITS DANGERS. HOW ABOUT A COMPLETE LOSS OF VISION @ 70 MPH. I HAVE CONTACTED NISSAN MANY TIMES AND HAVE NEVER GOTTEN A REPLY. I HAVE VISITED NISSAN MURANO FORUM SITES. THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD THINK THAT NHTSA WOULD WANT TO WORK TO PREVENT A DEATH RATHER THAN WAITING UNTIL SOMEONE OR A FAMILY IS KILLED BECAUSE OF THESE VISORS. BUT THEN AGAIN IF THAT DEATH WAS CAUSED BECAUSE OF THE VISOR, HOW ARE YOU GOING TO KNOW. THEIR DEAD. PLEASE DO SOMETHING. *TR

Summary of Complaint

WHILE TUNING SLIGHTLY AND LOOKING BACKWARDS TO BACK OUT MY DRIVEWAY, HEARD A LOUD CRACK AND FELT MY SEAT FALL BACKWARD. I BRAKE AND STOPPED MY CAR. I THEN FELT MY SEAT FALL FORWARD.I EXITED MY CAR AND NOTICED THE LEFT FRONT OF MY DRIVES SEAT SITTING ON THE FLOOD. AND THAT MY AIRBAG INDICATOR HAD COME ON. AFTER LOOKING UNDER THE SEAT I NOTICED THAT ONE OF THE BARS UNDER THE SEAT HAD SNAPPED. I MANAGED TO TIE SOME WIRE AROUND TO KEEP IT IN PLACE. AFTER TAKING MY CAR IN FOR SERVICING,MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THE AUTO HAS TO BE REPAIRED BEFORE ANY STATE INSPECTION CERTIFICATE COULD BE THE ISSUED. I ASKED HOW MUCH THIS WOULD COST, AND AFTER SO RESEARCH I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO QUITE A FEW OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME AUTO AND THAT THIS IS A NISSAN ONLY PART WHICH COST $1,0000 FOR THE PART. AFTER SEARCHING THE WEB I HAVE LEARNED THAT IS COMMON AMONG THE NISSAN 2002-2007 AND YET NISSAN WILL NOT RECALL! *TR

Summary of Complaint

THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT A 2 YEARS NOW. I DECIDED I WAS TIRED OF GETTING UPSET AND SLAMMING THE VISOR ON THE TOP OF THE ROOF WHEN I HIT A BUMP AND IT FALLS. I AM TIRED OF DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VISOR DROPS AND BLOCKS MY VISION. I ALMOST WAS IN A WRECK YESTERDAY BECAUSE OF THIS STUPID VISOR. I RESEARCHED IT AND REALIZED THERE ARE MULTIPLE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE NISSAN VISOR AND THIS EXACT ISSUE. SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED WITH THIS STUPID THING. *TR

Summary of Complaint

I HAD JUST STOPPED MY VEHICLE AND OPENED THE DRIVER'S DOOR, TO EXIT. AS I BEGAN TO EXIT, THE BACK LEFT CORNER OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT COLLAPSED. I REMOVED THE SEAT CONTROL PANEL AND OBSERVED THE METAL SEAT FRAME HAD BROKEN. NOTE: THIS IS THE SECOND TIME, IN THE EXACT SAME LOCATION, THIS HAS HAPPENED IN THE PAST 4 MONTHS. THE FIRST TIME THE NISSAN DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR OFFERED TO WELD IT FOR JUST UNDER $500.00 DOLLARS OR REPLACE THE FRAME FOR JUST OVER $1300.00 DOLLARS. ADDITIONALLY, I PURCHASED A "CERTIFICATION" WITH THE VEHICLE WHEN I BOUGHT IT USED (2009 WITH 7900 MILES) AND THE CERTIFICATION, ALTHOUGH STILL ACTIVE, DOES NOT COVER THIS PART. IF I HAD PURCHASED A "GOLD" CERTIFICATION, IT WOULD HAVE BE COVERED. I OPTED TO GO TO A LOCAL, FULL SERVICE AUTO BODY SHOP WHERE IT WAS WELDED FOR $150.00. I RE-CONTACTED THE SAME LOCAL NISSAN DEALER AGAIN AND THEY OFFERED TO RESEARCH THE INCIDENT AND ATTEMPT TO HELP. TWO DAYS LATER I WAS CONTACTED AND TOLD THAT THE LOCAL NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS REPRESENTATIVE DENIED COVERING ANY PART OF THE REPAIR. THE NISSAN STORE THEN OFFERED TO PAY 50% OF THE REPLACEMENT COST CITING MY CUSTOMER LOYALTY (PURCHASING 5 CARS FROM THEM AN ANOTHER 3 FROM THEIR GROUP). *TR

AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I HEARD LOUD SNAP AND THE SEAT SAGED TO THE LEFT. THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SEAT IS NOW CONSIDERABLEY LOWER THAT THE RIGHT SIDE AND YOU CAN WOBBLE THE SEAT QUITE A BIT, IT NO LONGER FEELS LIKE IT IS ATTACHED TO THE CAR VERY WELL. IT SEEMS THIS COULD BE A SERIUOS PROBLEM IN AN EMERGENCEY SITUATION! *TR
