AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON DASHBOARD STARTED BLINKING AND WILL NOT STOP. TOOK 2009 MURANO TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE AIRBAG SENSORS WAS MALFUNCTIONING AND I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE MY ENTIRE PASSENGER SEAT TO FIX IT, AT A COST OF OVER $5,000. THE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OF MY VEHICLE IS INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN 08V521000, WHICH HIGHLIGHTS THIS IDENTICAL PROBLEM YET MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. HOW CAN THIS BE? NISSAN SHOULD COVER THIS SEVERE SAFETY FAILURE THAT IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF 2009 MURANOS. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND HAS ABOUT 80,000 MILES. VEHICLE NO LONGER FEELS SAFE TO DRIVE AND REPAIR COST IS PROHIBITIVELY HIGH.

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A FRIGID NIGHT AND SHE FELT THAT SHE NEEDED TO PUMP THE BRAKE UNTIL IT HITS THE FLOOR TO STOP, NEXT DAY AS SHE WAS DRIVING FROM OUR GARAGE IT JUST SLID OFF THE SLOPED DRIVEWAY. I NEEDED TO DRIVE HER TO WORK IN ANOTHER VEHICLE. I HAD THE BRAKE PADS REPLACED BECAUSE THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED THAT THE SPONGINESS OF THE BRAKE MIGHT GO AWAY IF I HAVE A NEW BRAKE PAD. AFTER THE REPLACEMENT IT WAS IF NOTHING WAS DONE TO THE BRAKES IT WAS STILLSPONGY.

WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL RANDOMLY LOSE PRESSURE AND GO ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIREWALL WHEN TRYING TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP WHICH RESULTS IN THE VEHICLE FAILING TO STOP. IT APPEARS TO ONLY BE HAPPENING AT SPEEDS OF 45 MPH OR LESS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT 30-45 DAYS NOW ARE IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT NOW OCCURRING AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 3-4 DAYS. WHEN THIS 1ST STARTED I WAS ADVISED THAT IT MAY BE DUE TO LOW BRAKE PADS AND UNDER SPEC ROTORS SO WE REPLACED THE ROTORS AND PADS ON ALL 4 WHEELS AND BLEED THE BRAKES TO ENSURE THERE WAS NO AIR TRAPPED IN THE LINES HOWEVER THIS DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THERE IS NO LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES ARE IN GREAT SHAPE. WE ARE THE 2ND OWNERS OF THE VEHICLE AND PURCHASED IT WITH ABOUT 30K MILES ON IT IN 2012 AND IT NOW HAS 70K MILES ON IT. THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND DRIVES MY 2 YOUNG CHILDREN AROUND IN IT AND WE NO LONGER FEEL SAFE USING IT AS YESTERDAY SHE COULD NOT STOP THE CAR TRYING TO TURN INTO THE YMCA PARKING LOT AND SHE COULDN'T STOP! LUCKILY THERE WAS NO-ONE IN FRONT OF HER AS SHE WOULD HAVE SLAMMED INTO THEM. I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE SELLING OR TRADING THE CAR SINCE THIS IS APPARENTLY AN ISSUE THAT MULTIPLE OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THAT DEALERS CAN'T FIGURE OUT AND I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE PASSING THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION ON TO SOMEONE ELSE.

I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED AT LEAST TWICE, HOWEVER THE SHOP CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. AS A PRECAUTION, I HAD THE BRAKE SYSTEM FLUSHED AND BLEEDED AND REPLACED ALL 4 BRAKE PADS, HOWEVER, THE BRAKE FAILURE CONTINUES TO OCCUR.

WENT BACK TO MECHANIC AND HE WANTED TO REPLACE ABS BUT ONLY NISSAN COULD MAKE REPAIR. BACK TO DEALER AND SPENT $2800 REPLACING ABS. BELIEVE IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THIS DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. SPENT A YEAR FEELING UNSAFE, NEVER KNOWING WHEN BRAKES MIGHT FAIL.
