Summary of Complaint

AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON DASHBOARD STARTED BLINKING AND WILL NOT STOP. TOOK 2009 MURANO TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE AIRBAG SENSORS WAS MALFUNCTIONING AND I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE MY ENTIRE PASSENGER SEAT TO FIX IT, AT A COST OF OVER $5,000. THE MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OF MY VEHICLE IS INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN 08V521000, WHICH HIGHLIGHTS THIS IDENTICAL PROBLEM YET MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. HOW CAN THIS BE? NISSAN SHOULD COVER THIS SEVERE SAFETY FAILURE THAT IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF 2009 MURANOS. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND HAS ABOUT 80,000 MILES. VEHICLE NO LONGER FEELS SAFE TO DRIVE AND REPAIR COST IS PROHIBITIVELY HIGH.

Summary of Complaint

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON A FRIGID NIGHT AND SHE FELT THAT SHE NEEDED TO PUMP THE BRAKE UNTIL IT HITS THE FLOOR TO STOP, NEXT DAY AS SHE WAS DRIVING FROM OUR GARAGE IT JUST SLID OFF THE SLOPED DRIVEWAY. I NEEDED TO DRIVE HER TO WORK IN ANOTHER VEHICLE. I HAD THE BRAKE PADS REPLACED BECAUSE THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED THAT THE SPONGINESS OF THE BRAKE MIGHT GO AWAY IF I HAVE A NEW BRAKE PAD. AFTER THE REPLACEMENT IT WAS IF NOTHING WAS DONE TO THE BRAKES IT WAS STILLSPONGY.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 NISSAN MURANO. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP IMMEDIATELY. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GREENACRES NISSAN (561-899-4294, LOCATED AT 5353 LAKE WORTH RD, GREENACRES, FL 33463) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000.

BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR DURING DRIVING, BECAME SPONGY, HAD TO BE PUMPED. STAYED SPONGY FOR 2-3 MILES IN ONE CASE. HAS DONE THIS 3 TIMES WITH ME AND ONCE WITH THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP MECHANIC. DIAGNOSED BY NISSAN AS ACTUATOR INSIDE ABS. NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE PER THE MECHANIC. COULD EASILY BE KILLED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. $2400 TO FIX. NO ASSISTANCE FROM NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE - SAID THEY WILL NOT HELP. 09.14.2018. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REPLACED IMMEDIATELY; NEXT THING FOR NISSAN WILL BE LAWSUITS FOR WRONGFUL DEATH!!

Summary of Complaint

WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKE PEDAL WILL RANDOMLY LOSE PRESSURE AND GO ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIREWALL WHEN TRYING TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP WHICH RESULTS IN THE VEHICLE FAILING TO STOP. IT APPEARS TO ONLY BE HAPPENING AT SPEEDS OF 45 MPH OR LESS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT 30-45 DAYS NOW ARE IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT NOW OCCURRING AT LEAST ONCE EVERY 3-4 DAYS. WHEN THIS 1ST STARTED I WAS ADVISED THAT IT MAY BE DUE TO LOW BRAKE PADS AND UNDER SPEC ROTORS SO WE REPLACED THE ROTORS AND PADS ON ALL 4 WHEELS AND BLEED THE BRAKES TO ENSURE THERE WAS NO AIR TRAPPED IN THE LINES HOWEVER THIS DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THERE IS NO LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES ARE IN GREAT SHAPE. WE ARE THE 2ND OWNERS OF THE VEHICLE AND PURCHASED IT WITH ABOUT 30K MILES ON IT IN 2012 AND IT NOW HAS 70K MILES ON IT. THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND DRIVES MY 2 YOUNG CHILDREN AROUND IN IT AND WE NO LONGER FEEL SAFE USING IT AS YESTERDAY SHE COULD NOT STOP THE CAR TRYING TO TURN INTO THE YMCA PARKING LOT AND SHE COULDN'T STOP! LUCKILY THERE WAS NO-ONE IN FRONT OF HER AS SHE WOULD HAVE SLAMMED INTO THEM. I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE SELLING OR TRADING THE CAR SINCE THIS IS APPARENTLY AN ISSUE THAT MULTIPLE OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING ISSUES WITH THAT DEALERS CAN'T FIGURE OUT AND I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE PASSING THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION ON TO SOMEONE ELSE.

THE BRAKES IN MY 2009 NISSAN MURANO INTERMITTENTLY FAIL ABOUT ONCE OR TWICE A MONTH. THE BRAKE FAILURE, WHICH BEGAN TO OCCUR SOMETIME ON OR AFTER MID-2017, CAUSES THE BRAKE PEDAL TO LOSE PRESSURE, BECOMING 'SPONGY' MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STOP. WHEN THE BRAKE FAILURE OCCURS NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ABS LIGHTS LIGHT UP AND NO ERROR CODES ARE SET. THE CONDITION MAY LAST ANYWHERE FROM A FEW MINUTES TO A COUPLE OF HOURS AND THEN RETURNS NORMAL. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED AT LEAST TWICE, HOWEVER THE SHOP CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. AS A PRECAUTION, I HAD THE BRAKE SYSTEM FLUSHED AND BLEEDED AND REPLACED ALL 4 BRAKE PADS, HOWEVER, THE BRAKE FAILURE CONTINUES TO OCCUR.

MY CAR JUST HIT 90K MILES AND I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN TRAFFIC SUDDENLY STOPPED. I TRIED TO QUICKLY STOP BUT MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR WAS HARDLY SLOWING DOWN. AFTER NEARLY HITTING THE CARS IN FRONT OF ME, I WAS ABLE TO SWERVE INTO THE NEXT LANE. THE BRAKES WERE MUSHY AFTER THAT BUT THEY SLOWED THE CAR A BIT MORE. NISSAN DID A BRAKE FLUSH BUT THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED A WEEK LATER WHEN I WENT OVER A BUMP. THE ABS KICKED IN AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. MY NISSAN DEALER CLAIMS THEY'VE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. I THINK IT'S A RECALL BASED ON THE NUMBER OF CASES I'VE READ ONLINE.

BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AFTER HITTING A BUMP IN PAVEMENT. TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND WAS ABLE TO RESTORE BRAKING. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WITH FIRST INCIDENT IN APRIL 2015. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP ON VARIOUS OCCASIONS. WAS KEPT OVERNIGHT BUT MECHANICS COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. WAS TOLD THEY HAD NO OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. IN SEPTEMBER WE TOOK TO MECHANIC WHO SUGGESTED NEW MASTER CYLINDER. WORKED TEMPORARILY. JANUARY HAD ANOTHER INCIDENT AFTER HAVING TO HIT BRAKES HARD, HAD NO BRAKES. BEYOND FRIGHTENING. WENT BACK TO MECHANIC AND HE WANTED TO REPLACE ABS BUT ONLY NISSAN COULD MAKE REPAIR. BACK TO DEALER AND SPENT $2800 REPLACING ABS. BELIEVE IT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THIS DIFFICULT FOR THEM TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. SPENT A YEAR FEELING UNSAFE, NEVER KNOWING WHEN BRAKES MIGHT FAIL.
