WAS ABLE TO GET CAR HOME HOWEVER A WEEK LATER WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR IT HAPPENED AGAIN ONLY THIS TIME IT COMPLETELY DIED, AFTER HAVING IT TOWED HOME, AFTER JUMP START VEHICLE STARTED RIGHT UP WITHOUT HESITATION, AND RAN FINE. SYSTEM CHECKS GOOD AND BATTERY IS NEW LESS THAN 60 DAYS. VERY DANGEROUS AS THERE IS NOT WARNING TO SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER AND STALLING. VEHICLE LIGHTS RADIIO ETC ALL STILL WORK BUT VEHICLE WON'T START. NISSAN RECALLED EARLIER MODELS ALTERNATOR FOR SAME SYMPTOMS HOWEVER NOT MY VEHICLE YEAR. SAME SET UP LOCATION AS THE 03-07 MODELS SAME PROBLEMS JUST NO RECALL ON 09 MODELS. CAR HAS POWER LIGHTS RADIO ETC JUST LOOSES ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND IF ENGINE STALLS THEN REQUIRES BOOSTING TO BE STARTED AGAIN. RUNS FINE AFTER NO WARNING LIGHTS AND THEN WITHOUT WARNING HAPPENS AGAIN.

OUR BRAKES BECAME SPONGY AND DID NOT WORK WHEN DRIVING.AT A SPEED OF 35 MPH. EVENTUALLY THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO REPLACED THE ABS ACTUATOR AT A COST OF $2176 FOR PART, $528 FOR LABOR AND $69 FOR DIAGNOSIS. WE FEEL NISSAN SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THIS VERY DANGEROUS ACTUATOR. WE WERE ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET SO OUR SPEED WAS 35 MPH WHEN THE BRAKES WENT OUT ABRUPTLY. WE ARE APPALLED THAT THE COMPANY IS CHARGING EXORBITANT PART PRICES AND ALLOWING HIGH LABOR FEES TO REPLACE THIS DEFECTIVE AND LIFE THREATENING ABS ACTUATOR. THE DEALER TOLD US THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REDUCING THE COSTS. IT IS TOTALLY UP TO NISSAN TO ADJUST THESE COSTS. MY VEHICLE IS 2009 NISSAN MURANO. IWENT OVER A SLIGHT DIP LEAVING A BUSINESS PARKING LOT ON TO THE ROAD AND WHEN I TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT ENGAGING THE BRAKES. I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES REPEATEDLY TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. IF I DID NOT HAVE MUCH MORE THAN THE USUAL DISTANCE AVAILABLE TO STOP, THE RESULTS WOULD HAVE BEEN BAD. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER AS THAT WAS WHAT THE SYMPTOMS SUGGESTED, BUT IT DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. I THEN TOOK IT TO THE NISSAN DEALER, WHO I WAS SURPRISED DID NOT KNOW OF THE ISSUE EVEN THOUGH AN INVESTIGATION WAS UNDERWAY SINCE MAY. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS THE ABS ACTUATOR WITH A COST OF $2500 TO RESOLVE.

MY 2009 NISSAN MURANO LE HAS 117K MILES. I HAD EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH EXPIRED AT 100K MILES & 7 MONTHS AGO. THE TRANSFER CASE IS LEAKING & NISSAN INFORMED ME IT NEEDS TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED COSTING ME $3350. THE TRANSFER CASE SEALS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE BEFORE ON THIS VEHICLE AT 30K MILES AND 75K MILES. UPON DOING RESEARCH, THE TRANSFER CASE APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH NISSANS. I WAS ALSO INFORMED BY A NISSAN ACE CERTIFIED TECH THAT THE FAULTY TRANSFER CASE IS A FACTORY DEFECT, AND THERE WERE REVISIONS MADE ON THE TRANSFER CASE ON MARCH 24, 2014; THEREFORE, THE NEWER, REVISED TRANSFER CASE "SHOULD NOT" FAIL AGAIN. WELL, AFTER UNSUCCESSFUL NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE LOCAL NISSAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT, I CONTACTED CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO REQUEST A PARTIAL GOOD-WILL PAYMENT (AT LEAST PAY FOR THE PARTS SINCE IT'S SUCH A COMMON ISSUE AND A DESIGN DEFECT AND I'LL PAY FOR THE LABOR), BUT THEY HAVE REFUSED. THIS LEAVES CONSUMERS WITH DEFECTED PRODUCTS WHICH WILL END UP COSTING CONSUMERS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS BECAUSE NISSAN REFUSES TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. WHAT A DISHONEST WAY TO DO BUSINESS.
