THE ABS ACTIVATED EARLY IN THE MORNING WITH SUN SHINING THROUGH AN OVERHEAD TRAIN SIGNAL. I HAVE FILED TWO REQUEST FOR BUY BACK BUT MISSOURI HAS POOR LEMON LAWS AND ALLOWS TO KEEP REPLACING RADAR SENSOR. THEY HAVE PUT THE FOURTH ONE ON BUT THE SERVICE MANAGER WARNED ME THAT THE SYSTEM IS BETTER BUT WILL STILL ACTIVATE WITH MY INITIAL COMPLAINT IF THE SUN IS SHINING ON AN OVERHEAD OBJECT THAT THE SYSTEM THINKS IS IN FRONT OF IT. WHILE DRIVING ON A STAIGHT ROADWAY THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE AND AN ALARM SOUNDED AND A RED BOX WITH A YELLOW TRIANGLE APPEARED ON THE DISPLAY AND THE CAR BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN AS IF TO AVOID A CRASH OR SOMETHING IN THE ROADWAY. THERE WAS NOTHING IN THE ROADWAY, NO CARS, NO DEER, NO PEOPLE. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO ONE BEHIND ME EITHER. I WAS SHOCKED THAT HIS HAPPENED UNTIL I READ THAT THIS IS HAPPENING WITH A LOT OF ROGUE'S FROM 2018 MODEL YEAR. CONTACTED NISSAN AND WAS TOLD TO CALL THE DEARLERSHIP. OCTOBER 3, 2018 I WENT TO A LOCAL MALL. ON MY WAY OUT OF THE PARKING LOT LIGHTS STARTED BLINKING ON MY DASH AND THE AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN THERE WAS NO OTHER CAR NEAR MY CAR EITHER IN FRONT OR ON EITHER SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING STEADILY ABOUT 25 TO 30 MPH ON THE ROAD BEFORE YOU GET TO RTE 100/422 BYPASS. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THIS INCIDENT TO OCCUR SINCE THERE WAS NO OTHER CAR NEARBY, NO DEBRIS ON THE ROAD, AND NOTHING ADHERING TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR NEAR THE SENSOR. I WAS TOTALLY FREAKED OUT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS JERKING, THE CAR (NOT THE DRIVER WAS IN CONTROL) AND IT ALMOST DID NOT STOP AT TA MAJOR INTERSECTION. GOD FORBID I WAS ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY OR I WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION BUT THE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER ABSOLUTE CONTROL OF THE AUTOMATIC BREAKING SYSTEM.

On June 10, 2021, I was driving my vehicle preparing to merge on the interstate to go home when all of a sudden the AEB Warning light activates and I cannot not safely drive my vehicle. My vehicle speed would not increase above 3mph. I had the vehicle towed to my home. Today I contacted the dealership requesting that they have my vehicle towed for service and a loaner (as this is my only means of transportation) and was informed that I would be responsible for the tow, that it would be 3 to 4 days before they could run diagnostics and they have no loaner. My reality is if I had merged onto the interstate and this happened, I could either be dead or lying in the Intensive Care Unit.

Summary of Complaint

While driving at speeds between 30-40 miles per hour my 2018 Nissan Rogue suddenly brakes with no warning. I did not touch the brakes and there was no other vehicle in front or behind me. These incidents really scared me. This Sudden braking has happened six different times between November, 2020 and June 2021. I took it to the dealer(Nashville Downtown Nissan) to repair it when it first happened. They said that they fixed the problem free because it was under the 30,000 mile warranty. Four months later the the car suddenly braked at 40 miles per hour twice within a 3 day period May 27,2021 and May 30, 2021. Around June 1, 2020 I took my 2018 Nissan Rogue back to Nashville Downtown Nissan to repair the sudden braking problem again. They wanted to charge me $2,000 because it was no longer under warranty. I said that I did not have $2,000. So they told me to pay $182 for checking it. Now I drive my 2018 Nissan Rogue in fear of someone crashing into me. Nissan should be ashamed for letting this problem persist without offering A recall.

Summary of Complaint

The front seat rocked so bad I had to hang on to the steering wheel when braking and turning. Again, a huge safety issue. After arguing with Nissan that this was a safety issue they replaced the frame under the drivers side seat and I paid a $100.00 deductible. They said my extended warranty did not cover it, I really had to fight to get help on this. Safety issues should be covered no matter what, it's their fault. There's all kinds of complaints about this online. I should have complained a year ago to you but was unaware of the NHTSA. Sorry, I don't have documentation. Summary of Complaint

It started braking by itself while I was driving 65 mph on the freeway. Scary Sh**. This happened 7 times before I was able to get safely home. It happened even when slowing to 30mph. And the brake lights do not go on when this happens, my boyfriend was following me. I’m shocked there has not been a recall for this after reading online of other complaints and lawsuits. Huge safety issue. This isn’t a bad water pump issue it’s a peoples lives issue. I called Nissan and opened a case with them (case # 43890104) for the issue and to try to get my $165.00 back that I had to pay my local Nissan dealer. Although Nissan is going to reimburse me the $165.00 I paid, I strongly feel it needs a recall for this issue. People need to be aware that their lives are in danger. Please help. Make Nissan do the right thing and do a recall.

Summary of Complaint

Automatic opener for the automatic hatch back. I opened it i was reaching for something in to take something out when the hatch came down onto me. It rested on my back and did not go up. I was alone and had to maneuver myself out of the SUV trunk and had to manually close the hatch. This also happened to my 82 year old husband and the door when pressed to open, it starts UP, then comes down before it fully opens. This has happened more then once. We took the SUV to our dealer who said that we would have to pay for the repairs. Is this a manufacturing flaw or serious accident waiting to happen, or should this be a RECALL. Please advise as we have an appointment May 25, 2021. We have been in Florida for the past 5 months that is why we are just reporting this.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED MY 2018 NISSAN ROGUE IN AUGUST OF 2020 AND AS OF MARCH 2021, I'VE HAD 5 INSTANCES WHERE THE FRONT RADAR SYSTEM FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE MALFUNCTIONED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE FRONT RADAR SENSOR IS PART OF THE INTELLIGENT FORWARD WARNING SYSTEM IN NISSANS AND ITS JOB IS TO DETECT THE DISTANCE BETWEEN VEHICLES. THE SENSOR IS TIED TO THE CRUISE CONTROL AND EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM. THE FAULT CONSISTS OF A FRONT RADAR OBSTRUCTION WARNING LIGHT MALFUNCTION ILLUMINATING LEADING TO THE DISENGAGEMENT OF THE CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE (IF ENGAGED PRIOR TO THE MALFUNCTION) OR THE CRUISE CONTROL FEATURE AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM BECOMING DISABLED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL NISSAN DEALERSHIP AND THEY MENTIONED THAT THERE WERE NO CURRENT RECALLS IN PLACE FOR THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE AND THAT THE SYSTEM WOULD NEED TO BE UPDATED WITH THE LATEST SOFTWARE UPDATE TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM IS CORRECTED. I WAS TOLD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY APPROXIMATELY $150 TO INSTALL THE UPDATE TO THE SYSTEM, WHICH TO ME SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE COMPANY DUE TO IMPLIED SAFETY ISSUES. I WAS SURPRISED TO HEAR THAT A RECALL WAS NOT IN PLACE FOR THIS SYSTEM, CONSIDERING THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE SINCE 2014 AND YET THE NISSAN COMPANY HAS YET TO ISSUE ANY TYPE OF SAFETY RECALL FOR THE ROGUE MODELS, HENCE MY SAFETY COMPLAINT. IT WAS SNOWING SOME ON THAT TRIP. OUR RETURN TRIP THE NEXT DAY IT WAS SUNNY AND WE HAD NO PROBLEMS. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS A FUEL MILEAGE HISTORY THAT SHOWS UP WHEN YOU SHUT THE CAR OFF. IT SHOWED 10 MPG FOR THAT SHORT STINT WHEN WE HAD THE PROBLEM, OTHERWISE 26 MPG FOR ALL THE OTHER STINTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COLE NISSAN IN KALAMAZOO, MI WHERE THEY HAD IT FOR TWO WEEKS. WE DESCRIBED HOW THE INSTRUMENT LIGHT WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF SOMETIMES BEFORE THIS, BUT HAD NEVER APPLIED THE BRAKES LIKE THIS. WHEN WE WENT TO GET THE CAR WE WERE TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO CODE SET AND THEY TESTED THE SENSORS AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. INTERESTINGLY, WE DIDN'T GET ANY SORT OF SERVICE REPORT OR PAPERWORK. I TOTALED THE VEHICLE AND FRACTURED C5, C6, C7 IN MY NECK, AND HAD TO WEAR A CERVICAL COLLAR FOR 4 MONTHS FOLLOWING THE ACCIDENT. I ALSO SUFFERED A CONCUSSION. NISSAN TOOK OVER AND STARTED THEY NEEDED TO PERFORM AN INVESTIGATION. THEY FOUND AN ISSUE WITH THE SENSOR SYSTEM IN THE CAR, AND THE AEB WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. THIS COULD HAVE ALL BEEN AVOIDED. 10 MONTHS LATER THEY SEND OUT A CUSTOMER SERVICE INITIATIVE TO HAVE THE CAR UPDATED AND LOOKED AT AGAIN. HOWEVER THE CAR WAS NO LONGER IN MY POSSESSION.
