BOUGHT CAR IN 2012 WITH 64,000 MILES. IN OCTOBER OF 2017 , WITH 121,000 MILES NOTICED A GRINDING NOISE WHEN TAKING OFF TOOK TO NISSAN DEALERSHIP , WAS INFORMED THAT TRANSMISSION WAS BAD. REPLACED TRANSMISSION FOR $3700. IN JUNE OF 2019 WITH 138,000 MILES STARTED HAVING A VIBRATION IN THE FRONT WHEN TAKING OFF IN BETWEEN 1500 AND 2500 RPM WAS TOLD THAT TRANSMISSION WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED IN THE INSIDE, THE PUMP WAS NOT WORKING AND METAL SHAVINGS. I AM WITHOUT A JOB AND HAD TO TAKE MY SEVERANCE PAY TO PAY $4,107 TO REPLACE ANOTHER TRANSMISSION. THAT DID NOT INCLUDE THE RIGHT TIE ROD THAT I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO REPLACE WHICH SEEMS TO GO OUT EVERY YEAR. FIXING BOTH LOWER CONTROL ARMS AND THE REAR SUSPENSION AT OVER $1200.00 THE WEEK BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION. THIS CAR IS WELL TAKEN CARE OF OIL CHANGES EVERY 3,000 MILES AND CONSTANT UPKEEP.

DRIVING ON A BUSY EXPRESSWAY, THERE WAS SUDDENLY A LOUD CLANGING UNDER THE CHASSIS. I STARTED DRIVING SLOWLY AND AGAIN THERE WAS AN EXTREMELY LOUD BANGING AGAINST THE CHASSIS. PULLED OF THE EXPRESSWAY WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED SLOWING DOWN. WHEN I STARTED TO PULL INTO THE FIRST MINIMALL I COULD FIND, THE CAR STARTED MOVING BACKWARDS AND NONE OF THE GEARS WOULD WORK. COULD NOT TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AS THE CAR CONTINUED TO GO REVERSE INTO TRAFFIC. FINALLY AFTER GETTING ASSISTANCE FROM SEVERAL PEOPLE HELPING ME GET THE CAR INTO THE PARKING LOT, I WAS ABLE TO BE TOWED TO MY GARAGE, WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVE SHAFT HAD BROKEN OFF, KNOCKING OFF A PIECE OF THE OD SENSOR AND THEN KNOCKED OUT THE EXHAUST PIPE WHICH THEN SNAPPED OFF THE SHIFT ASSEMBLY CABLE AND ALL THE GEARS. MY MECHANIC HAS NEVER SEEN ANYTHING AS BAD AS THIS. THE CAR IS COMPLETELY UNDRIVEABLE AND I SHUDDER TO THINK WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO MY FAMILY AND MYSELF AS WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THE CAR EXPERIENCED EXTREME DECELERATION ON THE HIGHWAY. AT THAT TIME I THOUGHT IT WAS AN ICE ON THE GROUND. LATER ON, 01/01/10, DRIVING ON ROUTE 50 AND MAKING A LEFT TURN ONTO ANNANDALE RD. ONCE AGAIN, I LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS A GREAT SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IF THE PINION SHAFT COME OUT OF THE STEERING GEAR IT WILL RESULT IN A COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND RISK THE CHANCES OF A CRASH INVOLVING MY SAFETY AND THE SAFTY OF OTHERS.

THERE WAS A RECALL CAMPAIGN BULLETIN FOR 2007-2009 FOR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM REF# NTB08-095A THAT INCLUDED THE 2008 NISSAN ROGUE AND A LIST OF OTHER CARS, BUT WHEN I TOOK THIS ISSUE TO THE DEALER I WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR WAS'NT SELECTED FOR A RECALL. I'M A VERY SAFE DRIVER SO I HAVE'NT HAD ANY ACCIDENTS BUT I I'M IN FEAR THAT IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT MY AIRBAG WILL NOT WORK DUE TO THE MANUFACTURES DEFECT IN MAKING THESE VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT LINKED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 08V521000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE MFG SAID THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. EVEN THOUGH THE CAR WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYMPTOMS THAT THE OTHER 2008 ROGUES THAT WERE RECALLED DID, THE MFG REFUSED TO INCLUDE THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED THE COST TO FIX THE FAILURE AND IT WOULD BE OVER $2000. THE MFG TOLD THE CONTACT THAT DUE TO THE CURRENT MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE, 190218 AS OF FEB 2020, THEY COULD NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. TODAY I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING A STEADY SPEED OF ABOUT 70 MPH FOR ABOUT 30-40 CONSECUTIVE MINUTES. MY 2008 NISSAN ROGUE SL BEGAN TO DECELERATE SLOWLY. I BEGAN TO PRESS GRADUALLY ON THE GAS PEDAL. AS I DID THIS, THE CAR MADE A WEIRD SOUND AS IF IT WAS TRYING TO SHUT OFF. AT THIS POINT MY FOOT WAS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CARS RPM WAS GOING AS HIGH AS 4000 BUT THE CAR ITSELF WAS NOT ACCELERATING OVER 50 MPH. ALL OF THIS HAPPENING WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 6:30 PM. I COULD HAVE EASILY GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN EITHER. A FEW TIMES I HAVE BEEN AT A COMPLETE STOP AT A RED LIGHT OR COMING OFF OF THE HIGHWAY RAMP AND THE CAR WILL TAKE 10-15 SECONDS TO ACCELERATE AND TAKE OFF! THIS IS SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS BUT CAN ALSO BE QUITE ANNOYING FOR THE CAR BEHIND ME. ALL THIS HAPPENING WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS ON MY DASH, I HAVE GOTTEN THE CAR CHECKED OUT BUT TO NO AVAIL NO CODES ARE COMING UP AND MY CAR SEEMS TO BE FINE. I HONESTLY BELIEVE THIS IS A GLITCH IN THE SOFTWARE OR SYSTEM. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ON MULITPLE DIFFERENT FORUMS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE ON THE SAME MAKE, YEAR AND MODEL! I HONESTLY BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND HOPE THAT ONE OF YOUR TECHNICIANS SERIOUSLY LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT!
