TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TURNING, THE STEERING WHEEL FELT LOSS, AND THE CHECK AIR PRESSURE FOR TIRES WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ONCE THE CONTACT LEFT THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DRIVING AT 45 MPH IN THE RAIN, BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER REAR TIRES SHIFTED TO THE RIGHT. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND TRIED TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL WHICH FAILED TO OPERATED CORRECTLY. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WHICH FAILED, CAUSING THE CONTACT TO CRASHED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE. ALL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISING TO THE LEFT SIDE OF HER BODY. THE LEFT FOOT SEVERELY SPRUNG. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS CONTACTED AND HAD TAKEN THE CONTACT TO THE HOSPITAL WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TREATED FOR HER INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY THE POLICE TO A COLLISION SHOP, WHERE THE CONTACT INSURANCE COMPANY WAS CONTACTED CAME OUT TO THE LOT AND TOWED THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER LOT WHERE AT THIS TIME WAS AWAITING RESULTS. THE "SMART KEY" IGNITION SYSTEM SOMETIMES FAILS TO WORK, AT IRREGULAR INTERVALS. DEALER SERVICE PEOPLE SAY THE WAY TO CORRECT THE FAILURE IS TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DRIVER'S DOOR. THE SYSTEM THEN REBOOTS AND USUALLY WORKS OK THEREAFTER -- USUALLY. TODAY THE CAR WAS PARKED, SHE ENTERED, AND THE KEY FOB FAILED TO WORK. SHE HAD TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DRIVER'S DOOR 4 TIMES BEFORE IT DID WORK. THIS IS A SAFETY PROBLEM WHEN SHE IS FREQUENTLY THE LAST PERSON OUT OF THE LOT AT WORK, AND SHE MUST OPEN AND CLOSE HER DOOR BEFORE THE CAR WILL START AND THE PHONE BLUE-TOOTH WILL WORK. I PULLED UP TO A FAST FOOD DRIVE THRU AND APPLIED MY BRAKES. THE FIRST TIME WAS WHEN I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY TWO MONTHS AGO. THIS TIME THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I BACKED OVER A CEMENT RETAINING WALL IN MY NEIGHBOR'S YARD. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO PULL ME OUT BECAUSE THE REAR WHEELS WERE HANGING IN MID AIR AND IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET ENOUGH TRACTION TO GET MY CAR RIGHTED UP. WHEN DRIVING ON A SUNNY DAY---OR AT NIGHT ON A LIGHTED THOROUGHFARE---WITH THE WINDOWS ROLLED UP, THE FOLLOWING OCCURS: THE AC OUTLET ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, AS WELL AS THE AC OUTLET ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE---BOTH OF THESE IMAGES (THAT IS, THE ENTIRE AC OUTLET, INCLUDING THE CHROME BEZEL SURROUNDING IT) ARE REFLECTED ONTO THE DRIVER & FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOWS---AND THEN SUBSEQUENTLY REFLECTED ONTO THE 2 OUTSIDE MIRRORS. THE RESULT IS THAT, WHEN ANOTHER AUTO IS APPROACHING ON EITHER THE LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR VEHICLE, THEN YOU WILL SEE THE APPROACHING CAR IN THE OUTSIDE MIRROR, BUT SUPERIMPOSED OVER IT WILL BE THE ENTIRE REFLECTION OF THE AC OUTLETS. THUS, IT WOULD APPEAR THAT, WHEN LIGHT ENTERS THE CAR & HITS ON THE AC OUTLETS, THEN THE IMAGE IS REFLECTED ONTO THE SIDE WINDOWS, & THEN CONTINUES ITS REFLECTION ONTO THE OUTSIDE MIRRORS. HOWEVER, WHEN THE WINDOWS ARE ROLLED DOWN, THERE IS NO REFLECTION ISSUE AT ALL. IN ADDITION, ALL OF THE BUTTONS & SWITCHES INSIDE THE CAR ARE COATED WITH SOME SORT OF CHEMICAL, WHICH MAKES THEM ALL LIGHT UP AT NIGHT IN A BLUE TONE; THIS MAKES IT VERY EASY TO IDENTIFY BUTTONS/SWITCHES IN THE DARK; HOWEVER, SOME OF THE BUTTONS ALSO ARE REFLECTED ONTO THE SIDE WINDOWS, & END UP AS WELL ON THE OUTSIDE MIRRORS (IN PARTICULAR, THE BLIND SPOT MONITOR, TRACTION CONTROL, LANE DEPARTURE, & DYNAMIC RADAR BUTTONS, WHICH ARE LOCATED ON THE DASHBOARD JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. MY DEALERSHIP TRIED THEIR BEST TO CORRECT THE ABOVE "DESIGN FAULTS", BUT WERE UNABLE TO DO SO. I HAVE 2 CASE #'S: ONE IS WITH THE DEALERSHIP --#[XXX]; THE OTHER IS WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE, #[XXX]. RECENTLY WE HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A SOFT STEERING RESPONSE, AND THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY VEERS TO THE RIGHT (AT ANY SPEED). OUR CAMRY WAS PURCHASED IN DEC'14, AND WE HAVE NOTICED THERE WERE A RECALL FOR SOME CAMRYS' OF THAT YEAR. COULD OUR CAMRY BATCH HAVE SIMILAR ISSUES, HOWEVER THE PROBLEMS NOT AS APPARENT AS THOSE ALREADY RECALLED? PLEASE INVESTIGATE AS STEERING ISSUES SEEM TO BE THE TOP PROBLEM FOR THE 2015 CAMRY ON CARPROBLEMZOO.COM, AND MANY PEOPLE ARE ALSO NOTING THE SAME DEFECT BUT THEIR CAR'S VIN IS NOT ON ANY RECALL LIST. WHEN DRIVING THE CAR AND ACCELERATING, NOTICE A SLIGHT SHUDDER. WHEN THE TORQUE CONVERTER IS LOCKED, THE SHUTTER GOES AWAY. IT DOES THIS WHEN ACCELERATING FREQUENTLY. WHEN I FELL THE SHUDDER, IF I INCREASE ACCELERATION, THE SHUDDER STOPS. I SUSPECT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE TORQUE CONVERTER.

THIS EMITTED FOUL ODORS THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER GAVE THE CONTACT A CASE NUMBER AND SAID TO CALLBACK WHEN SHE RETURNED TO HER PERMANENT ADDRESS IN ANOTHER STATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
