Summary of Complaint

SIENNA 2011 LE DEVELOPED PROBLEM WITH THE SLIDING DOOR AFTER 5 YEARS OF USED AND A ABOUT 60K MILES, AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE LH SLIDING DOOR WORKS SOMETIMES, BUT MOSTLY OPENS HALF WAY AND GET STUCK OR CLOSES AGAIN. I HAVE TO PUSH IT MANUALLY TO GET IT TO OPEN OR CLOSE. THIS PROBLEM SEAMS TO BE PREVALENT IN SIENNA MODELS 2011+. TOYOTA HAS RECALLED MY SIENNA MODEL MULTIPLE TIMES TO ADDRESS MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE SLIDING DOORS. A TOYOTA DEALER SAID THE MOTOR NEEDS CHANGING AND THE REPAIR WILL COST ABOUT 1800 (ABOUT 1300 FOR A NEW MOTOR.) I AM SURE THE MOTOR FAILED BECAUSE OF THESE MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH THE SLIDING DOOR MECHANISMS PUT UNDUE STRESS ON THE MOTOR LEADING TO ITS FAILURE. THEREFORE, TOYOTA SHOULD OWN THIS PROBLEM AND FIX IT WITHOUT CHARGE. THE DEALER FOUND A USED MOTOR FOR 700 FROM LKQ. I FOUND A NEW MOTOR (PART NO 8500608013) FOR ABOUT 760 FROM ANOTHER TOYOTA DEALER ONLINE. USING THESE OPTIONS, I WILL STILL HAVE TO PAY ABOUT 1400-1500 TO FIX A DOOR THAT SHOULD WORK FINE LONGER THAN 5 YEARS.

Summary of Complaint

Loud Noise from the rear end, diagnosed to be a viscous coupler bearing malfunction by my mechanic. Total cost of repair is 2428 Dollars. In doing my research into this matter, this is a very common issue with my model Sienna. It is also common with same year Rav4 which a TSB was issued and covered by Toyota T-SB-0080-13. To cite a transmission mechanics who have experiences with the Rav4/Sienna rear differential issues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1vg2sbYL68 I hope you can help, this is a very large cost which is almost the price of the car in total. My family needs this car as we do not live in a city with very little public transportation available to us for utilize. The price of the repair will be a hardship on our family. I hope you can convince Toyota to step up and stand behind their product, to a very well known issue. Thank you for all you do.

MILLIONS OF PEOPLE COULD BE STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE IF THEY DO NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS NEGLIGENT DESIGN FLAW. TOYOTA DESIGNED AN RUBBER OIL HOSE THAT GETS STIFF AND BREAKS. THIS IS DESIGN NEGLIGENCE TO USE RUBBER HOSES ON AN OIL SYSTEM. TOYOTA REDESIGNED THIS PART WITH STEEL INSTEAD OF RUBBER .THIS SHOWS ME THEY KNEW THE DESIGN WAS BAD IN THE FIRST PLACE. VAN'S ABS AND VSC LIGHTS COME ON BUT NO OIL LIGHT WARNING. MY MOTOR STARTED MAKING NOISE BUT I DIDN'T KNOW IT RAN OUT OF OIL. THERE WAS NO OIL WARNING LIGHT. I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS THE MOTOR MAKING NOISE. MY CAR ENGINE WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF OIL. AGAIN, NO OIL LIGHT WARNING. SINCE I FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS, I FOUND OUT ABOUT FOUR MORE SIENNA'S THAT HAD THE SAME DEFECTIVE PARTS. FRANKLY ALL OF THESE HOSES WILL GO BAD AS THE MECHANIC REMARKED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM CAR ENGINEERS KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING WHEN THEY DESIGN A CAR. I WORKED IN MANUFACTURING AND ENGINEERING THOSE PARTS ARE WELL DOCUMENTED WHEN THEY ARE PREDICTED TO FAIL. ONE WOULD CONSIDER TWO SCENARIOS. 1.THEY HAD BAD ENGINEERS DESIGNING THIS SYSTEM, HOWEVER CAR MANUFACTURERS KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THEY ARE DOING WHEN THEY DESIGN A VEHICLE. 2.OR THEY DESIGNED IT TO BREAK TO SELL MORE REPLACEMENT ENGINES FOR FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS EACH. THEY KEPT THIS A SECRET OR MADE NO MENTION OF THIS PROBABLY TO SELL ENGINE REPLACEMENTS. THE TOYOTA MANAGER CALLED ME AND BASICALLY TOLD ME TOUGH. THEREFORE I WILL BE SUING THEM IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT. HOPEFULLY TOYOTA WILL BE REPLACING MY MOTOR. BY THE WAY I TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF MY VEHICLES I MAINTAIN THEM WITH REGULAR VEHICLE INSPECTIONS ALONG WITH OIL CHANGES AT THE PRESCRIBED MILEAGE.

Summary of Complaint

THE VAN HAS EXTREME OUTER TIRE WEAR ON THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT SEEMS TO BE TO WORST. TIRES ARE BEING ROTATED AT RECOMMENDED INTERVALS (5000-6000MI) AND AN ALIGNMENT CHECK AND ADJUSTMENT IS DONE AT THE SAME TIME. 60,000MI RATED TIRES ARE LASTING 10,000-15,000MI BEFORE REQUIRING REPLACEMENT AND CAUSING VERY POOR TURNING/STEERING, EXCESSIVE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION AND PULL, AND DRAMATICALLY INCREASED HYDROPLANING IN MILD RAIN CONDITIONS.

Summary of Complaint

RECENTLY STARTED HAVING THIS ISSUE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN CHANGING LANES MY DOOR OPEN INDICATOR LIGHT AS WELL AS THE EXCLAMATION INSIDE THE TRIANGLE WILL ILLUMINATE ON MY DASH, A BEEPING SOUND STARTS CHIMING AND ALL THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT 15 TIMES IN A 20 MINUTE PERIOD. ITS VERY AGGRAVATING AND DISTRACTING. IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND DOES IT ON SIDE STREETS AND LOWER SPEEDS AS WELL NOW. I HAVE DONE SOME TROUBLE SHOOTING OF MY OWN AND REALIZE THAT IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I HAVE A WINDOW CRACKED OR DOWN. IF THE WINDOWS ARE UP IT WILL ALSO HAPPEN WITH SHARP TURNS ENDING WITH ABRUPT BRAKING. I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER 3 TIMES IN A 4 MONTH PERIOD BECAUSE OF THE LIGHTS GOING ON AND OFF. POLICE SEEM TO THINK I'M SENDING SOME TYPE OF CODE FOR THEM TO HELP ME! IT IS RIDICULOUS. ASIDE FROM THIS LIGHTING/ DOOR ISSUE I AM ALSO HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE SLIDING DOORS CLOSING ON ME WHILE TRYING TO REMOVE MY 10 MONTH OLD SON FROM HIS CARSEAT. I BOUGHT THIS VAN USED AT 99,000 MILES. I NOW HAVE AROUND 120,000. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE AN ISSUE REPAIRED BY A TOYOTA RECALL. I HAVE GOOGLED AND FOUND MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE FROM PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME YEAR/MAKE/ MODEL AS MYSELF. UPON BROWSING THROUGH THE RECALLS ON THIS SITE I NOTED THESE ID#S THAT SEEM TO BE THE SAME TYPE OF ISSUE #11025347 #10995738 #10986378 CAMPAIGN # 16V858000 (STRUCTURE) #10928386

Summary of Complaint

BEGAN HEARING A LOUD WHIRRING SOUND FROM REAR OF CAR WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION. GOT LOUDER OVER TIME. OUR REGULAR MECHANIC COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE NOISE. TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FINALLY DIAGNOSED AS A FAILED ELECTROMAGNETIC REAR COUPLER. SUGGESTED WE NOT USE 'CHEAP TIRES.' WE NEVER HAVE. WE ACTUALLY WENT THROUGH THREE SETS OF THE RECOMMENDED 'RUN FLAT' TIRES IN UNDER 75,000 MILES. AS YOU KNOW, THESE ARE NOT CHEAP TIRES TO REPLACE. COST TO REPLACE COUPLER IS INCREDIBLY HIGH - SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, AS A GOOGLE SEARCH AND DISCUSSIONS ON TOYOTA CHAT SITES TELL ME THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM.

Summary of Complaint

THE UNIT MARKS DOOR OPEN SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING AND SOMETIMES WHEN THE BRAKES ARE PRESSED DOWN. THE UNIT WAS TAKEN TO AUTHORIZED DEALER BECAUSE THERE WAS A RECALL. THE RECALL STATED THAT THIS ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY THE SLIDING DOOR'S LOCK. THEY VERIFIED THE UNIT AND SAID THE SLIDING DOOR'S LOCK WERE OK, BUT THE ISSUE APPARENTLY WAS ON THE REAR DOOR. THE LOCK ON THE REAR DOOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THAT LOCK. THE REPAIR SHOULD BE PAID ON OUR OWN.
