Summary of Complaint

THE BED OF MY 2000 TUNDRA IS RUSTING OUT WHERE THE CROSS MEMBERS ARE WELDED TO THE BED AND WHERE THE BOLTS ARE CONNECTED TO THE FRAME. TOYOTA REPLACED THE FRAME IN MAY OF 2011. I LOOKED ONLINE AND THERE ARE OTHER TUNDRA OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AS REQUESTED BY TOYOTA RECALL CENTER AND THE SERVICE MANAGER,HEAD MECHANIC ,AND CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER ALL LOOKED AT THE TRUCK AND SAID IT WAS IN BAD SHAPE AND HAD TO DO WITH INFERIOR METAL,POOR WORKMANSHIP,OR INFERIOR UNDER COATING. LAKEWOOD TOYOTA SAID THEY COULDN'T ADDRESS THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE'S NO RECALL FOR THE BED. IF THE BED BECOMES UNATTACHED FROM THE FRAME THEN THERE COULD BE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. I WAS HOPING YOU COULD NOTIFY TOYOTA OF THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THE COMPANY DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR INFERIOR QUALITY AND POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP WANT TO PUT THIS ON RECORD SO YOUR DEPT CAN ADDRESS THE ISSUE AND OR POINT ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION TO FURTHER PURSUE THIS MATTER. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND UNDERSTANDING. UPDATED 08/18/14

Summary of Complaint

RAPID PULSATING OF BRAKES UNDER LIGHT TO MODERATE BRAKING AT ALMOST ANY SPEED. SUSPECT A DESIGN DEFECT IN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. TOOK VEHICLE TO TOYOTA SEVERAL TIMES, WAS TOLD "NOTHING WRONG", BRAKE ROTORS WERE TURNED FINALLY AFTER SOME INSISTENCE ON MY PART. PROBLEM SEEMED TO GO AWAY BUT CAME BACK. BRAKES HAVE BEEN DONE AGAIN AND PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. THIS PHENOMENON HAS BEEN OBSERVED IN SEVERAL OTHER TOYOTA VEHICLES WE HAVE OWNED, A 1993 CAMRY, A 2001 AVALON AND A 2005 LEXUS ES330. PROBLEM DOESN'T OCCUR EVERY TIME BRAKES ARE APPLIED AND CAN BE BARELY NOTICEABLE WITH A SLIGHT WOBBLE IN THE STEERING WHEEL TO AN ALMOST VIOLENT SHAKING THAT COULD CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL. PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WORSE DURING WARMER WEATHER. *TR

Summary of Complaint

I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON MY 2000 TOYOTA TUNDRA FOR A RUSTED FRAME CROSS MEMBER IN 04/22/10. WENT TO THE DEALER,THEY LOOKED AT IT & SAID THE WHOLE FRAME WAS JUNK,INCLUDING THE CROSS MEMBER. THE SPARE TIRE ALREADY FELL OUT FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE ON TO THE HIGHWAY,NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME BY LUCK.I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT TOYOTA WAS BUYING THESE VEHICLES BACK,BUT AFTER (7) CALLS TO TOYOTA THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO REPAIR THEM (REPLACE THE FRAME) AS OF TODAY NOTHING WAS FIXED YET & PIECES OF THE FRAME KEEPS FALLING OFF EVERYTIME I DRIVE IT.THE DEALER KEEPS TELLING ME THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL THEY GET OK FROM TOYOTA. EVERYTIME I CALL TOYOTA THEY TELL ME I'M ON A LIST (#8) I HAVE BEEN THERE SINCE APRIL, BUT THE LIST SEEMS TO NEVER GO DOWN. TOYOTA KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE, 11//16/2009 I THINK ITS TIME TOYOTA FIXES THE PROBLEM OR BUY THE TRUCKS BACK. I WANT TO LIST, THIS TRUCK HAS NO RUST ON THE BODY AT ALL JUST NOTHING UNDER IT TO HOLD THE GOOD BODY. SO MUCH FOR THEIR "TRUCK OF THE YEAR" WITH THE "EXTRA HEAVY DUTY FRAME". *TR

Summary of Complaint

1. NORMAL EVERYDAY USE. NEVER PLOWED. NEVER TOWED. NO HITCH. 2. LOST MY BRAKES GOING DOWN HILL ON A BACK ROAD. LUCKY! 3. GOT TOWED TO MECHANIC. BRAKE REGULATOR FAILED DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION NEAR THE SPARE TIRE MOUNT. REPLACED PART ALONG W/ ALL NEW BRAKE LINES DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION ALONG THE FRAME. WAS ADVISED TO HAVE TOYOTA INSPECT THE FRAME DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAVY CORROSION. CALLED TOYOTA CORP AND GOT A CLAIM # TO HAVE THE FRAME INSPECTED. WAS TOLD THE ONLY PART OF THE FRAME TO BE LOOKED AT WAS THE "REAR CROSS MEMBER' DROPPED OF THE TRUCK. CALLED TO SEE IF IT WAS READY. WAS TOLD BUY THE DEALERSHIP "YOU ARE ALL SET. THE REAR CROSS MEMBER WAS FINE AND THE TRUCK WAS READY TO BE PICKED UP. I ASKED IF THEY LOOKED AT THE FRAME UNDER THE TRANSMISSION. THEY STATED THEY DID AND NOTED THERE WAS HEAVY RUST AND CORROSION. I ASKED IF ANY HOLES WERE FOUND IN THE FRAME DURING THE INSPECTION. THEY STATED THE NOTICED PERFORATION ON SOME AREAS OF THE FRAME. I THEN ASKED THEM IF IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE. THERE WAS A SILENT PAUSE AND THEN "LET ME CALL YOU BACK" THEY CALLED BACK AND STATED IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND WERE NOT FIXING ANYTHING. I CALLED CORPORATE AND ASKED THEM IF I WAS ABLE TO HAVE ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED. I WAS TOLD NO. I HAD TO GO TAKE MY UNSAFE TRUCK BACK. I HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED FOR ANY FOLLOW UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP OR THE CORP OFFICE. THE FRAME HAS HOLES IN IT. IT HAS NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD. IT HAS NEVER HAD A HITCH ATTACHED TO IT. IT HAS NEVER HAD A PLOW ATTACHED TO IT. THIS TRUCK IS NINE YEARS OLD HAS A GREAT ENGINE THAT HAS HAD ALL THE PROPER MAINTENANCE DONE AS SCHEDULED. THE BODY IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE. THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF. THERE ARE SEVERAL CLASS ACTION SUITS AGAINST TOYOTA FOR THIS MALFUNCTION AND LACK OF RESPONSE. I WILL BE DOING THE SAME. HOW CAN A DEALERSHIP ADVISE YOU TO COME GET YOUR TRUCK AND 5 MINS LATER TELL YOU IT IS UNSAFE FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. HAD I NOT ASKED THE PROPER QUESTIONS. MY DUE DILIGENCE. *TR
