Summary of Complaint

ON OCTOBER 31ST 2008 I WAS IN AN ACCIDENT INVOLVING MY 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THIS ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT 7:30AM ON I-20 JUST WEST OF ATLANTA. I HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE REAR AND TOTALED MY TRUCK. AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT I FELT LIKE MY TRUCK WAS ACCELERATING EVEN WHILE I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKE. UNTIL THE REPORTS STARTING APPEARING ABOUT THE ACCELERATOR ISSUE I REALLY DIDN'T THINK MUCH ABOUT MY ACCIDENT. I FEEL LIKE A STUCK ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAUSED MY ACCIDENT. *TR

BOUGHT MY TUNDRA IN 07 . IN 09 OF JAN. I TOOK IT TO TOYOTA STATING AFTER BRAKING IT FELT LIKE BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. TOYOTA REPLACED THE DRIVESHAFT. IN OCT. OF 09 IT STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK TO TOYOTA THEY SAID THEY REPLACED IT ONCE & WOULD NOT REPLACE IT AGAIN & THAT IT WOULD KEEP HAVING THIS PROBLEM. I'VE EMAILED TOYOTA , CALLED CUSTOMER CARE THEY SAID ITS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE TUNDRA. I ONLY HAVE 42000 MILES ON TRUCK. IF I WOULD OF KNOWN THIS I WOULDN'T HAVE BOUGHT IT. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE LEMON LAW WAS ONLY 2 YEARS & THAT WOULDNT HELP. WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE. *TR

Summary of Complaint

Rear fuel tank strap bracket detached from frame. Bracket appears to have corroded and detached at its frame weld without warning. Tank dropped about 3 inches down at rear and was barely supported by the front tank support strap and the flexible fill hose, which appeared to prevent it from shifting. The fill hose is attached to the tank via a stainless steel clamp. The tank could have dropped from vehicle when I was on the highway, before I was even aware of the issue. I happened to see something sagging when I was walking to my vehicle. It appears that the tank bracket would be very difficult to inspect, and I believe I had the vehicle inspected for a corrosion recall about 2-3 years ago. I was lucky I observed the tank when I did, it may have broken 1 or 2 days before I even noticed it. Attached photo shows the corroded detached bracket assembly. I was able to temporarily resupport the tank under the existing strap.

Summary of Complaint

Excessive frame corrosion. I brought the vehicle in for the corrosion recall in 2018. against my objection, they determined that my frame did not have to be replaced and they coated the frame without removing the rust. I recently brought the truck in for service at a location repair shop where he notified me that my fuel tank supports have completely rust off of the frame. He dropped the fuel tank and found that Toyota had never dropped the tank and coated the cross members above the tank. The tank has been supported only by the filler hose, endangering my life and the life of my family. When I contacted Toyota, their response was they did what they were supposed to do. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE, ESC, AND VSC WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AS I WAS ENTERING THE FREEWAY THEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE MORE THAN 60MPH, THE TRUCK WENT INTO A LIMP MODE. I RESET THE ECM BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY BUT IT CAME BACK. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71K. THIS ISSUE IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND SHOULD BE COVERED BY EMISSIONS WARRANTY. CALLED THE DEALER AND IT IS NOT COVERED BY FEDERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY AFTER 10YRS. NOT GOOD!

Summary of Complaint

I HAVE VERY BAD RUST IN THE BED OF MY 07 DC. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW. THE RUST WAS OBSCURED BY THE TOYOTA BED LINER UNTIL I SAW OTHER OWNERS POSTING AND CHECKED IT OUT. I KEEP MY TRUCK IN IMMACULATE CONDITION AND IT ONLY HAS 57,000 MILES. THE RUST IS COMING FROM UNDERNEATH AND IS FOCUSED AROUND THE BOLTS THAT HOLD THE BED TO THE FRAME. I AM AFRAID THAT THE BED WILL FALL OFF OF THE TRUCK! I AM TRYING TO BRING AWARENESS TO THIS DEFECT BEFORE IT CAUSES AN ACCIDENT. A CALL TO THE DEALER AND EVERY POST THAT I SEE SAYS THAT TOYOTA WILL NOT HELP. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED ISSUE AND TOYOTA SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE POOR WORKMANSHIP AND REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS BEFORE THERE ARE ACCIDENTS. MY FRAME IS ALSO RUSTED. TOYOTA DEALER SPRAYED A SOLUTION ON THE FRAME BUT IT IS STILL RUSTING AND IS AFFECTING THIS BED RUST AS WELL.

THE FRAME AND TRUCK BED HAVE SEVERE RUST ISSUES. THE TRUCK BED IS SHACKING NOW WHEN DRIVING. THE FRAME WAS "SPRAYED" WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ON WINCHESTER ROAD THEY HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF RUST ON THE FRAME AND ON THE TRUCK BED AND ADVICE ME TO RID OF THE CAR BECAUSE THEY CANNOT DO NOTHING ABOUT IT EVEN TRADE FOR ANOTHER CAR. I HAD THE TRUCK INSPECTED BY MY MECHANIC BEFORE I BOUGHT AND THE CAR SEEMS TO BE OK. LATE ON ANOTHER MECHANIC POINTED OUT SEVERE. TOYOTA DEALERSHIPS INSPECT THE TRUCK AND SAID THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW MYSEFL HOW TO GET A NEW FRAME AND A NEW TRUCK BED BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO OR WHO TO CONTACT. MY MECHANIC ADVICE ME TO CONTACT NHTSA.

IN 2018 I BROUGHT MY 2007 TO MY DEALER (ACTON TOYOTA LITTLETON MASS.) TO HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY CHECK ON THE FRAME. THEY FOUND IT TO BE RUSTED ENOUGH TO KEEP IT SEVERAL DAYS FOR RUST TREATMENT . A YEAR OR SO LATER MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT I HAD A SEVERE UNDERBODY RUST PROBLEM. AT THIS TIME TOYOTA REFUSED TO TAKE CARE OF IT BECAUSE I WAS 2 WEEKS BEYOND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. TOYOTA ORIGINALLY REPLACED A LOT OF THE RUSTED FRAMES AND ALSO TREATED OTHERS. I NOW HAVE A VEHICLE THAT HAS LESS THAN 80,000 MILES AND MAY BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I FEEL THAT THE RUST PROTECTION WAS A TEMPORARY SOLUTION TO PACIFY CUSTOMERS LIKE MYSELF .

THE AMPLIFIER FOR THE AC/HEAT CONTROLS BROKE. I NEED IT FIXED AS THE TRUCK IS NOT USABLE IN SOUTHEAST ARIZONA WITHOUT AC. TOYOTA PUT THE AMP IN THIS MODEL BEHIND THE DASH. THIS WAS WRONG AND THEY CHANGED IT FAIRLY QUICKLY. TO REPAIR THIS MODEL REQUIRES AN ADDITIONAL $1,200 OF COST BEYOND THAT OF THE BROKEN PART. I SPOKE WITH TOYOTA AND HAVE A FILE NUMBER. THEY WON'T DO ANYTHING TO HELP WITH THIS COST OR AN ELECTRONIC WORK AROUND. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE CAN BE DRIVEN BUT IT IS A DEATH TRAP AND THIS IS CAUSED BY POOR ENGINEERING. Summary of Complaint

ON JULY 18 2019 MY FILE TANK STRAP RUSTED OFF. I NOTICED THE TANK HANGING DOWN WHEN MY G AND I WERE ON A DINNER DATE. WHEN I TRIED TO REPAIR IT THE BRACKET THAT BOLTS TO THE FRAME TORE OFF DUE TO RUST. I HAD NO WAY TO FIX IT SO I PUT UP THE TANK WITH A RATCHET STRAP AND DROVE IT ONLY MINIMALLY. ON APRIL 15TH 2020 MY TRUCK WOULD NOT START AND SO AFTER ABOUT A WEEK OR SO I HAD A TOW TRUCK PICK IT UP AND BRING IT TO A LOCAL SHOP. BEFORE THE SHOP GOT STARTED ON THE VEHICLE THEY TOLD ME THE FRAME IS IN REALLY ROUGH CONDITION. THIS IS NEWS TO ME BECAUSE I BOUGHT IT FROM A LOCAL DEALER, RHINELANDER HONDA TO BE EXACT, ON NOVEMBER 27 2018. I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD IT A YEAR AND A HALF. THEY THEN PROCEED TO TELL ME ABOUT A TOYOTA FRAME RECALL/EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I MAY FALL UNDER. WHILE THE TRUCK IS IN THE SHOP I REACHED OUT TO MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER, RHINELANDER TOYOTA, AND THEY TOLD ME I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET HELP BECAUSE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED IN MARCH/MAY OF 2019 FOR MY TRUCK. I TOLD THEM I HAD JUST BOUGHT IT AND HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE FRAME RECALL. THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT HELP ME AND GAVE ME THE NUMBER TO THE CORPORATE OFFICE. I CONTACTED AND SPOKE WITH SEVERAL PEOPLE AT THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP ME EITHER. I HAVE A HARD TIME UNDERSTANDING WHY IF TOYOTA KNOWS THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH RUST/CORROSION ISSUE THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE FRAMES FOR THE TRUCK YEAR THAT MY TRUCK FALLS INTO BUT GIVE IT AN EXPIRATION DATE AND THEN NOT HONOR FIXING THE ISSUES THEY KNOW EXIST. I NEVER RECEIVED ANY LETTERS OR INFORMATION ABOUT THE ISSUES WITH THE FRAMES AND NOW MY TRUCK IS STILL AT THE SHOP WHILE THEY TRY TO DETERMINE THE BEST WAY TO MAKE IT ROAD WORTHY. THIS IS NOT A POORLY MAINTAINED TRUCK. OTHER THAN THE FRAME ISSUES IT IS A VERY NICE PICKUP. I HAVE ONE PICTURE FROM THE MECHANIC SO FAR AND I WILL ATTACH IT.

Summary of Complaint

THE RECALL ON MY 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA FOR RUSTED FRAME WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER WHO SAID THEY WOULD SPRAY IT WITH RUST PROHIBITIVE. I WAS A MECHANIC FOR MANY YEARS AND IF THE FRAME IS NOT STRIPPED DOWN AND SANDBLASTED TO METAL THERE IS NO GUARANTEED METHOD TO STOP THE RUSTING. TOYOTA SHOULD BE MADE TO REPLACE ALL THE FRAMES OTHERWISE IN A FEW YEARS THERE WILL BE MORE BROKEN FRAMES ON THE ROADS. I DON'T KNOW IF YOUR OFFICE WAS INVOLVED IN THE CLASS ACTION SUITE BUT I AM REASONABLE SURE LAWYERS AND JUDGES NO NOTHING OF MECHANICS OR ENGINEERING. I PLAN OF KEEPING MY TRUCK FOR MANY MORE YEARS AND IF THE FRAME FAILS THEN I WILL GETTING LEGAL COUNSEL FOR A RECOURSE TO SOME ENTITY BE IT GOVERNMENT OR COMMERCIAL. IF YOU ALL TAKE YOUR JOBS SERIOUSLY THAN THIS NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED SOONEST BEFORE TOYOTAS ARE FALLING APART ON THE HIGHWAYS AND KILLING PEOPLE. THEY MADE THE ERROR AND THEY SHOULD PAY FOR IT NOT US!!!!

Summary of Complaint

MY 2007 TOYOTA TUNDRA HAS A VERY BAD FRAME AND UNDER BODY RUST ISSUE (I HAVE MULTIPLE PICTURES AND VIDEOS I CAN PROVIDE). LAST AUGUST, I FOUND OUT ON A TOYOTA FORUM THAT THERE IS A RECALL/CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT FOR THIS ISSUE HTTP://WWW.TOYOTAFRAMESETTLEMENT.COM I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA COORPORATE ON (OR AROUND) 08/03/2018 (INCIDENT: 180803-000275) FOR MORE INFORMATION AND ASKED WHERE I SHOULD TAKE MY TRUCK FOR INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD THEY CAN'T HELP BECAUSE MY TRUCK WAS BUILT (OF CONFIGURED) FOR THE CANADIAN MARKET. I CONTACTED TOYOTA CANADA (1-888-869-6828) AND WAS TOLD THEY CAN'T HELP BECAUSE I DON'T RESIDE IN CANADA AND THE FRAME SETTLEMENT IS ONLY FOR RESIDENTS HTTPS://WWW.CLG.ORG/CLASS-ACTION/LIST-OF-CLASS-ACTIONS/TOYOTA-RUSTY-FRAME-CANADIAN-CLASS-ACTION . I HAVE ALREADY SPENT OVER $1500 WORTH OF BRAKE CABLES, TENSIONER AND OTHER RUSTED PARTS. I WAS TOLD, THIS TRUCK IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING AND NOBODY IS LISTENING. THIS SITUATION IS CAUSING ME A LOT OF SLEEPLESS NIGHTS AND STRESS. I'M PLANNING TO CONTACT MY LAWYER NEXT WEEK TO DISCUSS OUT OPTIONS IF THERE IS NO RESOLUTION. I CAN PROVIDE A RECORDING OF ALL MY CONVERSATIONS WITH TOYOTA AGENTS. THANKS,
