THEY CAHRGED ME APROX $113.00 FOR THAT SERVICE AND THE ISSUE IS UNRESOLVED...THE BRAKE PEDAL STILL EASILY GOES TO THE FLOOR WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. WILDE TOYOTA STATES THAT THIS IS A NORMAL CONDITION FOR THIS 2008 TUNDRA AS THEY SAY THAT THEY HAVE OTHER 2008 TUNDRA'S THAT DO THE SAME. THEY STATE THEIR IS NO FIXING OF THE ISSUE AND THAT THEY ALLEGE MY BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL IS WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS GUIDELINES SET BY THE NHTS.. I'VE SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND HAVE FOUND OTHER TOYOTA OWNERS WHOM HAS THE SIMILAR ISSUE WITH THEIR BRAKES. WHEN THE TRUCK IS NOT RUNNING, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS HARD AND DOESN'T GO TO THE FLOOR AND THAT IT WHAT WILDE TOYOTA SAYS IS WITHIN SPECIFICATIONS. BUT THAT INFORMATION OR SPECIFICATION ISN'T RELEVANT WHEN IT COME TO SAFETY, AS WHAT IS IMPORTANT, IS HOW THE BRAKES WORK AND OPERATE AND FEEL WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS IMMEDIATELY TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL WHERE HE WAS TREATED FOR WHIPLASH, CUTS AND LACERATIONS TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF HIS BODY, A SLIGHT CONCUSSION, AND A BRUISED RIGHT RIB. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AT THE SCENE AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. HIS INSURANCE THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THEIR FACILITIES WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 218,000.

ON 6/09/2020 THIS OWNER'S 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA 4.7L DASHBOARD LIGHTS LIT UP INCLUDING THE VSC, TRACTION CONTROL, CHECK ENGINE AND 4 LO. THE 4 LO LIGHT WAS FLASHING. THE TRUCK WOULD NO LONGER GO PAST 3000 RPM. WRITER DROVE THE TRUCK HOME. IT WAS THEN TAKEN TO TARBOX TOYOTA FOR EVALUATION. THEY NOTIFIED WRITER THAT THE VEHICLE'S SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM REQUIRED REPAIR AND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH TOYOTA TUNDRAS. TOYOTA ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY TO COVER VEHICLES IMPACTED BY THIS DEFECT. COST TO REPAIR IS $2300. TOYOTA WILL NOT ASSIST ME WITH THIS ISSUE BUT ADVISED ME TO STOP DRIVING THE VEHICLE. SO THEY ARE AWARE THAT THIS DEFECT IS DANGEROUS YET WILL NOT REPAIR IT UNDER SAID WARRANTY. I CALLED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS AND THEY WERE OF NO HELP. I AM A NURSE WHO WORKS IN A HOSPITAL DURING THIS PANDEMIC AND I NO LONGER HAVE RELIABLE TRANSPORTATION TO GET TO AND FROM WORK. I HAD REACHED OUT TO TOYOTA REGARDING THE PREMATURE CHASSIS RUST ISSUE ON THEIR TRUCKS. I HAD INADVERTENTLY MISSED THE CUT OFF DATE FOR THE COATING WHICH WAS IN MAY OF 2018 DUE TO AN UNAVOIDABLE PERSONAL EVENT. WHAT DIDN'T MAKE SENSE WAS THAT THEY EXTENDED THE CAMPAIGN TO REPLACE THE CHASSIS IF THE PERFORATION WAS DEEMED SEVERE UNTIL JANUARY OF 2020. I HAD THE CHASSIS INSPECTED BY A TOYOTA DEALER BEFORE THIS JANUARY CUTOFF DATE. WHILE THERE ISN'T SUFFICIENT PERFORATION TO WARRANT A REPLACEMENT BUT IT IS CLEARLY EVIDENT THAT THE CHASSIS WAS NEVER PAINTED AND THE RUSTING ON THE CHASSIS IS CLEARLY PROMINENT FOR A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE. WHAT IS MOST DISCONCERTING IS THAT THEY WOULD EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO REPLACE THE FRAMES BUT THEY WOULD NOT EXTEND THE CUTOFF TO COAT THE CHASSIS. SHOULDN'T THIS COATING BE COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER WITHOUT A CUTOFF DATE? MY TRUCK HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF, NEVER ABUSED AND ALWAYS WASHED AFTER SNOW STORMS BUT DUE TO NO FAULT OF MY OWN WHEREAS THE INITIAL CHASSIS COATING WAS FAULTY I AM NOW FACED WITH A TRUCK THAT LOOKS ALMOST MINT BUT THE CHASSIS WILL BE FAILING PREMATURELY. I HAVE A 2008 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE SECONDARY AIR PUMP FAILED ON MY VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD I WOULD BE $3500 TO REPAIR. THIS IS KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE TUNDRA. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT TOYOTA HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THIS BUT IT EXPIRED AFTER 10 YEARS OR 150,000, I HAVE 121,000. WHEN THE PUMP FAILS IT CAUSES THE VEHICAL TO GO INTO LIMP MODE. I RAN A ERRAND TODAY AND THE TRUCK RAN FINE. I WENT TO THE STORE AND RETURNED TO THE TRUCK. I STARTED IT AND THE THE VSC LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AS I HEADED INTO TRAFFIC THE VEHICAL WOULD NOT ACCELERATE TO KEEP UP WITH THE TRAFFIC AND ALMOST GOT REARENDED. TOYOTA SHOULD OF HAD A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY FEATURE AND COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THIS AIR PUMP IS INSTALLED ON TUNDRAS AND OTHER MODELS. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK NEW IN 2008 AND HAVE SERVICED IT ON THE MFG SCHEDULE. SINCE THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THE PUMPS DURING REGULAR MAINTENANCE INSTEAD OF NOT DOING NOTHING AND HOPE IT DOES NOT OCCUR. EVEN IF I REPLACE THE PUMPS WHAT SAYS IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I LOST CONFIDENCE IN MY TRUCK AND AM AFRAID IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN.

I ALSO SUFFERED TWO FRACTURED RIBS ON MY RIGHT ARM PIT AREA AND ONE ON MY LEFT ARM PIT AREA, THIS WAS ACCORDING TO THE ER DOCTOR AND A FRACTURE OF MY L5 VERTEBRAE ACCORDING TO MY MRI REPORT. FOUR HERNIATED DISC AND SIX BULGING. IT IS MY SINCERE BELIEVE THAT SOME IF NOT ALL THIS PERSONAL INJURIES I SUFFERED WERE RELATED TO AN OVER PRESSURED AIR BAG SYSTEM. ALTHOUGH THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON MY TRUCK, I FEEL A NEED TO REGISTER MY COMPLAINT. USING TIS TECHSTREAM, CONFIRM THE CONDITION BY CHECKING FOR DTCS P0552 AND/OR P-553. DISCONNECT THE PRESSURE SENSOR CONNECTOR AND PROCEED WITH REMOVING THE POWER STEERING PRESSURE SWITCH, WHICH IS LOCATED AT THE POWER STEERING VANE PUMP AND IS MOUNTED TO THE HIGH PRESSURE FEED LINE.
